My friend Courtney just did a really fun post on her Schiskablog called Please Don't Laugh At Me. Courtney confesses that, please don't laugh, she is a closet NASCAR enthusiast and has taken to spending her Saturday nights watching old episodes of Star Trek. She has kept this hidden from her friends for fear of being ridiculed. And rightfully so.
It is time, folks, to open up and share the real us. Courtney accused anyone who didn't share their own P.D.L.A.M. secrets of being sissies. Although I feel I have done my share of publicly exposing my embarrassing activities, traits and tendencies, I will not be called a sissy. So here's mine.
Please don't laugh at me, but after Jackson was born I went through a phase of watching Days of Our Lives. Maternity leave and post-partum hormones drove me to it. My favorite characters from when I watched in high school were suddenly back on the show and I couldn't help myself. When I passed the point of not being able to blame the conviction on feelings of exhaustion or baby blues, I stopped watching. But I tuned in on the day my favorite characters, Austin and Carrie, finally told Sami off for the last time, got married, and rode off into the sunset together on a motorcycle. And it was glorious.
Alright, share if you dare. I promise I won't laugh.

This is so fun! Ok. Ahem.
Please don't laugh at me but I have a secret little habit (this goes back as long as I can remember) when I brush my teeth. After I get done brushing, I suck the last little drops of water out and it makes a little "suck suck" sound. My husband has giggled at this habit of mine for years but noone else knows about it (except for my mom, of course). Which brings me to my next PDLAM....
Please don't laugh at my 5 year daughter, but she has a little (learned) habit of sucking the last little drops of water out of her toothbrush after she's done brushing. :) My husband REALLY gets a kick out of this one.
Hugs, Stephanie M.
Please don't laugh at me, but I have a secret obsession with Dr. Quinn. I publicly ridicule it when the opportunity arises (which is, never? Isn't Dr. Quinn a show of the past? Yes, yes of course it is. I have very few opportunities to vehemently oppose it). After all, it is ridiculously corny and dramatic. However, the admission must be made that I could spend an entire day watching old episodes. :)
I am also a closet Nascar fan! I also recently bought an old season of the show Mork & Mindy on DVD-yes this dates me!
This must be the day to embarrass ourselves because I posted a very embarrassing story of myself about my cat on my blog today!
Feel free to visit and laugh at me!
Please don't laugh at me because...1) When no one is home, I like to put on really loud orchestra renditions of formal hymns, pick up a pencil, tap it on the counter and play like I am the conductor. I know just where the woodwinds sit and just where to direct the strings.
2) I like chili without any meat in it and Coney Island hot dogs all the way, cut the weiner. (It's not that I don't like meat. I can eat a roast like nobody's business. I don't know what it is. PDLAM.)
3) If I've been out of town and haven't filled up the bird feeders in my back yard, I get a complex that the birds might not like me anymore. I nervously fill up the feeders then sit on the porch and watch, unsatisfied until all my friends come back and eat like they love me.
I could go on an on but you wouldn't want me to. PDLA Amanda just because this is her heritage. ---Mom
Days was my secret show quite some time... I can't believe I missed seeing Austin and Carrie finally get together!
I'm sure I have lots of things that could fit in this topic, but the first one that came to mind was the fact that I swing my hair around like a headbanging madwoman after I get out of the shower. I have super thick hair and it helps separate it so it drys faster. It's quite entertaining.
I have to think on this one (there are sooo many!!)
But I did just out myself on BigMama's blog, regarding a REALLY stupid question I once asked...
I think that being willing to admit I asked it keeps me from being called a sissy (or else really does show my ignorance!!)
blessings,
karla ~Looking Towards Heaven
Please don't laugh at me...
I pretend to try out for American Idol.

HAHAHAHAHA I am LOVING this--
Please don't laugh at me but when I drive in the car I have to blink every time I pass a place where the sidewalk meets the road. (Yes, every driveway too)....OCD much?
As a soon to be college grad, I still have a lot of stuff animals and cuddly friends that I like to sleep with. :) Before I go to bed I always choose a couple to stay with me on the bed, and put the rest on the floor with the extra pillows. I feel so bad for the others that I always make it a point to apologize to them...and OF COURSE tell them their turn will be tomorrow. ;)
Oh heavens, P.D.L.A.M.!!!!
(I also had a secret obsession with Guiding Light)
Hysterical....I did this on Courtney's blog, too - and thought about putting it on mine...but, I have such bizarre friends (lol) I am kinda scared to give them free reign! ha!
Please don't laugh at me, but I'll give you two things that I haven't even blogged about and heaven knows, that must mean they are shameful.
First, when I am alone in the car, I blast the radio and sing like I am Jenny from the block. I sing loud and proud and at times, even convince myself that I have real talent, which is a lie straight from Satan.
Secondly, I am addicted to the show Friday Night Lights and have been known to cry throughout the better part of most episodes. You know you're a Texas girl when football makes you all weepy.
Hmmm...Will my Husband read this?
I don't know if this is a secret because my neighbor's may already know. On occasion, when I am home alone, I will sing and dance to the top of my lungs. I just need to get the inside out. It feels great! There have been moments when the doorbell rings in the middle of my solo. With hot cheeks I answer the door.
I didn't know you had your own blog, Amanda... How fun is that!
I have a couple of secret confessions for you: although I appear quite outgoing...I really like to be alone. When I am, I like to listen to music and sing it out loud and dance....I like to spend time listening to one of your Mom's CD studies or one of our favorite pastor's from Texas A&M....Finally, I really like football. My husband doesn't at all. Sometimes, I have been known to stay up to watch a game while he goes to bed.
Love you much, Sista!
Holly
Please don't laugh at me, but I love B-O-L-O-G-N-A! Well, any processed meat product for that matter... Give me McNuggets and McCheeseburgers over the real thing anyday!
And, as long as everyone is confessing their TV demons, I get a nervous tick if I miss One Tree Hill. And if The Girls Next Door or a Real World - Road Rules Challenge is on, I might be inclined to be glued to the television... you know, on occasion.
Wow! That was very cleansing. I might just blog that!
I love this! So fun! Although, I had to think for a bit...
Please don't laugh at me:
1. My nightly ritual for getting dressed for bed entails pajamas and PEARLS. Yes! I do switch my earrings out for bed! Funny thing, My ear holes are stretching...I mourned to Peyton over it and she said, "it's the pearls, Momma". So, I've been wondering if I need to minus the pearls at night?? I'm not sure I can part with them though. It's become quite an addiction!
2. Keeping with pearls...The first thing I asked for when being wheeled out of surgery after my hysterectomy last April, was my pearls!
3. I HAVE to have ice in my cereal. In this order...Bowl, 2
pieces of ice, cereal, then milk poured over. Can we say OCD?
4. My best friend(Shan) and I have been known to throw some country music on, kick off our shoes, and take a whirl around my tiled living room two-stepping. Being that both of our husbands have "two left feet", this is as close to gettin' our country western fix as we're gonna get! We also take turns with the "man-leading" role...Teehee!
Big Mama told me I had to come over here and confess. I got ADDICTED to General Hospital when my Jackson was born. And I kept on for 4 years! If I had to miss I would VIDEOTAPE it, yes it was that pitiful. I finally quit a year ago when Jackson quit napping and I had to examine how truly important this was to me.
Please don't laugh at me, but, when no one is at home, I turn up my music (LOUD!) grab my hairbrush, or something like it, and sing my ever livin' heart out! Sometimes the singing turns into interpretive dancing! :) It's a sweet time.
And yes, at 21 years old,I still sleep with my stuffed bunny, who now has NO face whatsoever. And basically dosn't even look like a creature of any sort. I'm cool like that!
(Found your blog from facebook! It is so fun!)
Please don’t laugh at me, but my two biggest fears might seem slightly ridiculous to most people.
1. I’m afraid to ride in an elevator by myself. I will not do it. I mean, what am I supposed to do if I’m all by myself and the elevator gets stuck between two floors?? I think I would have a panic attack. Thank you very much, but I’ll take the stairs! By the way, I’m perfectly willing to ride in an elevator any other time. With a stranger or person I know, it doesn’t matter. As long as I’m not by myself!
2. I’m terrified that I might get eaten by a shark. You heard me. I like it about knee-deep into the ocean and that’s about it. Any farther, and the sharks might just swim right up into that three-feet-deep water and chow down on me! And while we’re on the topic, I actually don’t like to swim in anything besides a chlorinated swimming pool. I’m not a big fan of what might be lurking in all that foggy lake water either.
Ok, I have two things...
1. I googled myself the other day, just to see if anything was out there. There was a lot, but about another Sherry McClure, and she is much cooler than me.
2. I still watch Little House on the Prairie...at least once a week, and I still get emotional over it..
I'm weird...sherry
I like boy bands. I used to have a major crush on Pete Sampras. I know the words to many Britney songs.
PPPDLAM. (Please x 3)
Oh, and I have New York Minute (with Mary-Kate and Ashley) in my DVD collection. PDLAM!
We adore Star Trek and don't care if anyone laughs! LOL! We DVR all the old episodes of Star Trek: The Next Generation AND Voyager!! For twelve years we had two cats named after a couple of the characters! Yes, we're goobers! ; )
I hopped over from Big Mama's blog...
Please don't laugh at me, but on road trips I love to blast country music from the 70's and 80's--think Oak Ridge Boys or Bellamy Brothers--and, of course, sing along at the top of my lungs.
And please don't laugh at me, but as great as I am at singing, I am even BETTER at mimicking the guitar solos on various big hair band songs from the 80's, such as Van Halen or, my favorite, Whitesnake. I mean, I really REALLY get into it.
I feel all exposed now.
PDLAM, but I love to sing in the car. However, the minute I get near another vehicle, I clamp my jaws shut. Unless there's someone else in the car with me, and it could look like I'm talking to them. Of course, if someone else is in the car, I really don't want to sing...so it's a mute point.
Also, PDLAM, but I have been known to watch The Disney Channel when my 8-year old daughter isn't even home! At least it's pretty wholesome tv ;-)
This is great! I'm loving all the comments!
I could totally eat Coney Island hot dogs sans weiner, because the bun and chili, cheese & onions can certainly stand alone. I'm with you, Beth!
PDLAM but my husband and I spend our Friday nights watching and analyzing "Stargate SG1" and "Stargate Atlantis" on the Sci-Fi channel.
And after 6 years or so of freedom from "Days of our Lives," I'm starting to get sucked back in, thanks to the Soaps network replaying that day's episode at night. ARGH!
HILARIOUS b/c I too used to have a secret habit of watching Days! I watched in college and when both my boys were little I got back into it for a while and then would fade off. I haven't seen it in months, but I'm sure if I turned it on today not much will have happened since then!!!
Please don't laugh at me but I cancel my mammagram appts if it is storming or bad weather. Really, think about it if the electricity goes off and you are, how should I say this, attached or smushed in the machine...do you just stay there until power is restored? Or lightning strikes and there is a fire...do you think they are going to remember to unattach you? No So I always cancel when bad weather is approaching. I thought of this after I posted on CourtneyS blog.
Amanda...so sorry, but I couldn't help myself...I swiped this and turned it into a book giveaway at my fun blog...so all of my PDLAM moments are there...hope you don't mind...and I love you...and your blog...**leaving quietly**
PLDLAM - I love the Brady Bunch and will watch every reunion and special interviews show etc about them.
I am really picky about milk - I won't drink it if its the day before the expiration date and never ever ever after and I REFUSE to smell it to see if its gone bad. it also has to be ice cold and cannot not come out of the fridge until ten seconds before I use it. so to save money I don't buy a lot of milk. :) my whole family makes fun of my milk "issues"
PDLAM, I love to pop pimples.... it irks me to no end when someone has a big one... I seriously can't focus on anything else (no, I don't pop random peoples, only my hubbies, or a niece or nephew)
PDLAM but I cannot, and will not, sleep in a bed that is unmade before I crawl into it. Drives my kids crazy because I don't like THEM getting into their beds either if they are unmade. I tell them that I won't be able to sleep if they don't make their bed first or if their covers aren't on straight. Totally random...
I, too, am a "Days" fan. I can't stop. It's getting crazier everyday, and everyday, I say "I am not going to watch ANY.MORE!" But... there I am the next day watching! Ugh!
I so badly want to join in here but can't think of a single thing. I even asked Pace, but he's trying to sleep and just mumbled at me.
I'll come back when I have something. I'm positive I have something, I just can't remember it! Or maybe I think it's normal but it's not? Hmmm, off to think . . .
Okay, my contribution:
PDLAM - I am insanely afraid of bridges. I was born in Arkansas, so on a trip to Memphis I asked hubby to take me into Arkansas just to say I'd been back since I was 4 YO when we moved. Didn't realize we would have to cross a bridge across the Mississippi River. I was wiggin' out in the floor board. When we finally got into Arkansas, made him turn around and come right back because couldn't enjoy myself knowing we had the trip to make again.."Just get back and get it over with!" I screamed.
You see, I have this fear I'm going to go careening over the side with all 4 kids in the car and we'll be underwater and I won't know who to save cause I can't possibly hold on to everybody, right?? Any hands up this is a Legitimate Fear?? Our BFF's bought me a car safety hammer for Christmas..:)) LOVE THEM!
BB, P.S.
Hope you don't mind I'm linking you up on this post for some Friday Funnies at my place
Love ya!
ok, i have a few...
PDLAM but every time we leave for a family vacation/trip, i make sure that our home is completely cleaned and organized...just in case we don't come back and a loved one has to come into our home and take over. i don't want them to have to clean our house at a time like that! :(
PDLAM but every morning, first thing, i open up every blind in our house (14 sets) and then once the sun goes down at night, i close every single one. i do that every.single.day.
oh...one more. now this is a true confession ;)
i don't like to floss. i dread it every night, and really, skip many nights (i know, so gross!). well, my dad is a dentist. the 2 week period before my regular cleaning, i floss like a mad woman...that way when i go in, my gums won't bleed profusely and they won't ask me if i floss regularly ;)
Please Don't Laugh at Me - I love to listen to Celine Dion and have actually listened to one CD so much it doesn't work anymore. As long as we are being honest here, I don't "just listen", I belt out with heart and terrible voice that only God can love and only my man can think is beautiful.
(I am still figuring out this Blog thing... I have been inspired by you BooMama, Bigmama, and Sarah at In the Midst of it :))
That's hilarious. I love the whole idea of a P.D.L.A.M. post and may have to do it soon. So funny.
But I hear ya about the "Days" watching in the few weeks after having a baby. I did that, too, for about six weeks, probably. Funny thing is my mom watched it for years when I was younger and I could pick right back up with the storyline after missing about 20 years of shows. Kinda sad. Even sadder, since my hubby was home with me for several weeks after our daughter was born, we watched "Days" together. HA!
PDLAM, but,I love bluegrass music! The more "bluegrassier" the better!
Hello from Venezuela.
Please don't laugh at me because... I read people's blog that I don't even know! Okay... I'm starting to feel like a stalker! I just enjoy these SO much! I hope you don't mind... I am new to this blogging thing... is it weird? Do I not have enough friends??? PDLAM.
This is hilarious! As I started reading the beginning of this post, I thought, "Ooh. If I had to name something it would be that I watch DAYS!" And then I scroll down and see that's yours, too! (and apparently so many others'!) Staying home after that first baby got me hooked, and sad to say, I'm still watching it (4 years later). Yikes! PDLAM!
Hi, I saw you on The Preacher's Wife's post.
Please don't laugh at me, but I've watched General Hospital since I was 8. I love every stinkin' bit of it. Also went through a Patch and Kayla phase, as you Days fans can identify with. But, my secret, secret habit is my Little House/Waltons marathons. Now that's good TV. Pass the tissues!
Please don't laugh at me, but right after Rosa Jane was born I was obsessed with Felicity on the WB. I had never really watched it before and got to quickly catch up on all the episodes. I tell you I cried and cried when it was time for her to graduate and leave all her friends. Oh, the pain of it! Never mind I was going through the biggest transition of my life -- new country (Texas from Boston) and new baby.
Fun post!
When I was in Bible school, the only way my wife could see me was to come to work with me and clean office buildings. She started following me around while I vacuumed and she would read out loud Emily Loring books. I got hooked on romance novels and still like some.
