What a Bod!

This morning I neglected to turn off the TV when SpongeBob Squarepants came on after Go Diego Go. Diego takes Jackson on "una aventura" while he eats his breakfast and I have my quiet time. If anyone is the slightest bit tempted to remind me that the AAP recommends that no child under 2 watch any amount of TV, please talk to the Lord about it. This is the only routine that has worked for me. Anyway, I was talking to my mom on the phone and making big plans for her to come stay the night with us tomorrow. Yay! I suddenly looked up at the TV and saw good ole SpongeBob...in his tighty-whities. I could have gone my whole life without seeing Spongebob Squarepants in his Spongebob Underpants. They were really low-cut, which made me think that perhaps SB might have been wearing a th*ng. Spongebob. In a th*ng. Are you disturbed? We were, too. But not so much that we didn't squeal and laugh. Mom suggested I write a post about this but advised me to KEEP AWAY FROM HER BLOG.

Neat, huh?

is it sad that I can sing the words of the theme song?...

He doesn't wear a th*ng, but for some straaaange reason, my 21-month-old daughter is very interested when I'm folding hubby's laundered, um, "unmentionables". She's in this possessive phase, too, so she'll grab some and run off squealing "My pants! My pants!"

You are funny Amanda! And sometimes in the thick of winter here, the television is what keeps me sane! So don't you feel bad about sweet little (active) Jackson watching Diego. Whatever works is my motto! (I mean, besides duct tape...that WOULD work, but then I would be thrown in the slammer!)

Take your quiet time when you can, Amanda--Go Diego Go is a great show.

We're not Spongebob fans either, which gets really embarrassing when my four year old tells others who like it, "that's not a nice show. They have bad attitudes." I hide in embarrassment!

I'm writing on horses this week...thought you would like to know :) since they're your favorites.
Have a great week! 'Wish you could hop a plane and visit our cool place until it cools down at home...
Love ya,
Holly

I love how you spell "th*ng."

I have talked with God and He has told me that TV is okay as long as it is appropriate (I think tighy whiteys & th*ngs are out) and you use your time wisely. Quiet time is good so your covered on that one but I think you need to turn the channel when the naked sponge comes on.

ROFL... Did you just write that word on your blog?
The humor in this post is much needed by mommies!
TV is our friend too for showers and other times.
Logan likes Telletubbies (which Dave thinks is a creepy show). However what keeps our world spinning is most important! Amen!

Oh yeah, I was all over that "no tv until 2 rule" ... UNTIL I had a child!

Now we rely on a daily dose of Sesame Street!!

my husband gave me all the preaching about morgan not watching tv until she was 2 and whenever she starts freaking out he is like where are some of her shows?? LOL! He swore she was not going to watch tv but I am sorry I had to veto that one!! Sponge bob is a little strange that is for sure! I bought a the sponge bob movie a few years ago for my niece and I about died at the subliminal message that I saw in it. I am for real! I showed it to a couple of other people to make sure I was not crazy. We all about died.

ps...I remember that you had a friend who's sister was having brain surgery I think...how is she?

Honestly, I don't know where the so called experts come up with these recommendations. I don't think they ever had a toddler in their house!!

Seriously, I would NOT have ever had a minute of quiet time, showers, etc. without the ocassional tv/video. As much as I hate to say it Barney ruled in our house.

Spongebob however is another story. Just wait until Jackson starts potty training. . . he's probably going to want some Spongebob tighty whiteys (lol). Oh sorry, but I had to go for that image!!

Hang in there Amanda and enjoy the time with your Mom,

LMBO - I personally love Sponge Bob though I do only let the kids have him in small doses....

And I thought, based on personal experience, that a soft, dimpled backside disqualified one from wearing such...Guess not! You Rock SpongeBob!

And I don't know why mom doesn't want him on her blog? Go figure?

I just opened up a fresh box of Frosted Flakes for my kids breakfast and what did i find inside?? Spongebob Square pants in the giant pencil topper. His hair will change color from the heat of your hand or from your breath!! Is that funny or creepy?!!!

There are some things the human eye is not meant to see. A sponge wearing a th*ng is one of them.

Oh I use sesemae street for the same reason! However, my hubby loves sponge bob!

Girl.

Spongebob in a th*ng?

If that image doesn't make you crave some special quiet time with Jesus, I don't know what will.

You gotta do what you gotta do. I give a huge shout out of praise for Noggin everytime time I'm cooking dinner and have a little punkin pulling at my legs wanting to "help".

SpongeBob disturbs me. So this whole post made me laugh.

But the last line about staying away from your Mom's blog with comments about a sponge in a th*ng? Priceless.

confession: my name is abby, i am 22 years old, and i'm a huge spongebob fan! my best friend's husband is actually the one that got me hooked...anyone seen the "sqeaky boots" episode? or the one where someone tries to figure out the secret ingredient to crabby-pattys?! (hush...i need to stop)

your mom advised you to KEEP AWAY FROM HER BLOG....crakin' me up!!!

I don't know anything about spongebob but I have to say, think the AAP who made those rules about no TV until your child is 2 have never had children!

If I didn't have our Blues Clues and Veggie Tales DVD's I don't know how I would ever get dinner made!

Deidre said...

I would never have quiet time if it weren't for television entertaining my children. I believe God understands!

It's truly hard to fight the "sponge" as the kids get older. He's just so "magnetic".

Laughed my head off! So relieved you kept this entry a country mile from the LPM blog BUT I must admit I have such a blast living vicariously through you, young lady. Please don't tell your bloggers that I was the one who told you that, if I were you, I could not possibly resist writing on this unseemly sight. There is something about mentioning Squarepants' unmentionables that brings out the kind of kid in me that gets side-splitting tickled in church when she thinks the pastor just used a bathroom word. On a more mature note, now that you mention it, I think we should also be relieved that Squarepants actually wears unmentionables.

I'm coming to Irving as fast as I can. Have Jackson ready.

I love you,
Mom

Yikes! Not a good mental image.

Jackson will watch a whole show?

I'm jealous. I only get the length of the Backyardigans' theme song ... but he will run back to the TV as they start singing as they go in for snack. Still, its barely enough to finish a piece of toast!

I, too, am not completely comfortable with SpongeBob in tighty whiteys. However, I don't think I'm comfortable with ANYONE in tighty whiteys! :-)

Lil Miss Firecracker and I popped on to see what y'all were up to and the first thing she said was "look mom! Sponge Bob has lost his panties!" She still doesn't understand why I don't let her watch it. Oy vey!

And if I did not have Noggin, I would NOT be able to complete my Bible study. It is the only way she can see me in the Word and at least she looks forward to "our Bible study" when LMF and I watch Wednesdays with Beth. She is too smart, she is begining to recognize when we are watching repeats. :-D

Happy Wednesday.

TTFN!

The Lord said kids can watch TV long enough for us to get our sanity back...I promise, I've asked many times.

Also, Hunter when through a phase where he refered to himself as Diego, and we have many toys to pass on to Jackson if he keeps up with the animal rescue phase

By the way Amanda, that picture you posted showing SB's tighty-whities, wouldn't that qualify as Spongebob NOpants...

I am also led to believe that SB is disturbingly shopping in the womans section for his unmentionables...because I have never seen "low waisted" briefs for men or boy's or sponges. BUT maybe it isn't a th*ng...perhaps b*y sh*rts? Things that make you go hmmmmmm!

This was one of those days where I needed to laugh and laugh hard. So THANK YOU making me laugh!

When my girls were toddlers I used Veggie Tales to distract them long enough for me to have some quiet time. Hang in there it does get easier. We homeschool now, so the girls have their quiet time while I have my quiet time. We just spread out around the house. It's really kind of cool.

Oh girl... I wouldn't get my quiet time were it not for the Wiggles so I know how you feel. As far as the "underpants".... think I'll just leave that one alone. :) ROFL!

I'm with ya sista!

My son will be 1 on Friday and we started watching tv at about 7 months old! The only way I get to go to the bathroom and eat breakfast in the mornings is because of dear old Mickey Mouse! :)

Have fun with your mom! :)

O.K., I needed a really good laugh today!! After hearing that I think I will be wise to continue keeping that show off the kiddos viewing material! :) What imagination someone must have... an amimated sponge showcasing his underwear, alrighty then!! I do agree though, a little morning tv= quiet time for MOM!

Remember back in the day. . when someone we loved was Sponge Bob at MS Camp Houston??? Glad that we didn't see any tidy whities or a th*ng on Sponge Bob!!

Hilarious!

Also, I wanted to see if you could do me a HUGE favor... even though you have NO idea who I am. My friend, Stephanie, is battling stage 4 cervical cancer and wrote on her site today how God used your mother to really encourage her last night through one of her studies. Anyways, I am posting the link here and also on LPM and was wondering if she could just hop on over and say hey. I know that it would just bless her in such an incredible way. If she can't, then I totally understand, but if it is possible, then I would really appreciate it if you could pass this on.

Also, if it weren't for Diego, I wouldn't get ANYTHING done around here... including prayer time! And, our children will be fluent in Spanish by the time they turn 3!

WHAT? You don't get up at 5 a.m. to have a two-hour long quiet time before the sun (and Jackson) rises? :-)

This will make you feel better: Caiden lets Grayson out of his room every morning to watch Curious George together--while I sleep.

It's bliss.

I think the "no tv for kids" thing was made up by someone who has no kids and hates mothers!

hahaha...that is really funny.

I never really liked spongebob. And that was before I heard he was possibly wearing a th*ng.

yikes...

Hope you're doing well by the way! :)

i was sitting on the floor with my laptop reading my blog and sara happened to come and sit by me...to which she proclaimed.."look mommy it sponge bob square pants and his panties" (which sounded more like pon-bob, per pants!!) now how she knows who he is- i have NO idea, we've never watched it here...not that i am aware unless her and her daddy watched it!! i'll have to ask him...but it was too funny!!
