Hurricane Gustav

I'm addicted to this blog for CNN and this blog for the Houston Chronicle. I will have a hard time peeling myself away from the computer and the TV tomorrow.

I'm looking at the word "Houston" on the weather map on TV that's showing the movement of the hurricane. It's freaky how close we are to Gustav but it doesn't look like we are going to get hit.

I am praying for God's mercy on everyone who will come into contact with the storm. Be with them, Jesus.

First of all, Amanda...I cannot believe how grown-up Jackson looks in the new picture on your blog!!!

I'm praying, too. I just changed my facebook status earlier to something about those I was praying about and how 3 years is not enough time to recover from one storm before another hits.

Then I thought that there must be a spiritual blog post about that -- because sometimes that is just the way the storms come, huh?

I'm praying, too. Praying that you all will be safe as it looks like you will be.

I remember leading Breaking Free during the time of Katrina and how we just stopped one day in the middle of Bible study to pray for the women on the video. Still think of them often.

Okay, so I'm rambling!

Have sweet sleep friend and don't worry about the storm...we know the One who walks on them!!

Blessings,
Dori

I am telling you...

I need more blogs to stalk.[insert slight sarcasm]

Is blog stalking bad? Hmm.

Amen! A lady in our sunday school class this morning said she had just dropped off her son at school in New Orleans last week and he had to turn around and come home due to the evacuations! We are in NC! My prayers are with all those in the storm's path. we prayed for them this morning in class and when i checked the weather when I got home, i was praising Jesus that the storm had broekn down a bit...keep praying! He is in control!

Amen. Praying with you, Sister. I've got family in LA and TX right in the line of the storm. Praying for safety for all.

Hey Amanda...
Our church has taken some New Orleans evacuees and I worked with them all day...it has been all over my heart and more than I can take in...but I wouldn't trade it for all the money in the world.

My heart is so full of love and compassion for everyone in its path. I'm praying with you.

I've put the post up on my blog if you care to get just a small glimpse into what has happened all over the South today.

Much love,
Fran

I'm like you Amanda keeping an eye on the Hurricane and being prepared. Looks like it is going to Louisiana.
Was looking scary at one point. All will be well...God's mercy and prayer. Must keep praying.

I looked at this link just cause I wanted to see a different visual of the tracking:

I have never been anywhere near a hurricane, since I live in California, so I can only try to imagine how terrifying the prospect would be. I am praying safety for everyone.

ME TOO!! i am totally addicted to the weather updates. Allison Richmond decided to stay...well only go to Baton Rouge so she could be there to help. Her church (most of them decided to stay as well) has been organize everything so they can be prepared immediately after the storm...its so awesome, but we are texting like crazy. I begged her to leave but I trust her that she is doing what the Lord is telling her.

Praying with you for all those in the path of this storm.
I like what Dori said about not worrying when storms come because we know the One who walks on them...SO TRUE!

No coincidence these verses showed up in morning devotions....
"The seas have lifted up, O Lord,
the seas have lifted up their voice; the seas have lifted up their pounding waves.
Mightier than the thunder of the great waters, mightier than the breakers of the sea--
the Lord on high is mighty.
Psalm 93:3-4

Hey Amanda,

Yeah, I saw that Gustav was coming towards New Orleans, and I hope and pray that those in the path will evacuate in time. There's always time to come back later when the storm passes. I was also praying for you all that you would not be hit with the storm:)
My older sis and you all live in TX-I like TX a lot because of these facts:)

Love in Christ,

Every time I see Houston on the map, a prayer goes up for all of you. I'm with you - my heart has been heavy for LA all night and morning.

Lord, draw near.

I've been watching the newscasts on CNN and am just hurting for those people that have already been through this and may go through it again.
I remember when Katrina happened, my brother was sent to Miss. to help with clean up (he's a firefighter here in CA). He brought back hundreds of pictures and stories of what he saw. It was so sad.
I am praying for all those in the path of this hurricane that God would pour out his mercy....

I'm glued, too. Can't take my eyes off of FoxNews. I think prayers have already been answered by its strength decreasing to a category 2. Praise Him for that! Now if only those dern levees would hold!!!

I love it if you and your readers would please remember to lift up Cuba. They took a big hit when Gustav passed over, and I'm still not sure all my friends there are safe, and they are still reeling from the last one that caused lots of flooding. We travel there with HFBC. Thank you!
