Election Day '08

I would like to take a moment and thank the 3,000 people in my precinct who voted early so that I could walk right up and do my thang today without any line. Woo hoo! Give Him some glory! I even got to enjoy an early lunch with a friend. After feeling so much dread about the coming of this day, I am now filled with joy. I felt very empowered as a mother to get to vote on behalf of my son and my daughter. (Thanks for that reminder, Bee!) I even got to speak to a reporter afterward and share why I voted as I did. I didn't recognize the name of the media outlet she worked for, but it was nice to walk away from that polling place knowing that I had a chance to speak. Another great thing is that I got to vote for a wonderful, godly man and dear friend of our family who is running in a local election. What a joy to get to support such a man of integrity who glorifies God every day in the work he does.

We are so blessed to live in a country where our elected president will be held accountable by voters again in 4 years. We are not at the mercy of a dictator who gets to control everything under the sun and squash his opponents until he dies or gets overthrown. (Thinking of you, Jungle Mom.) Ultimately, our new leader will "reign" for 4-8 years, but our King Jesus will reign forevermore. I am fixing my eyes on Him today, knowing that whether the person I voted for wins or loses, my only True Hope is in Christ. There is no other Rock; I know not one!

Isaiah 44:6-8

"This is what the LORD says—
Israel's King and Redeemer, the LORD Almighty:
I am the first and I am the last;
apart from me there is no God.

Who then is like me? Let him proclaim it.
Let him declare and lay out before me
what has happened since I established my ancient people,
and what is yet to come—
yes, let him foretell what will come.

Do not tremble, do not be afraid.
Did I not proclaim this and foretell it long ago?
You are my witnesses. Is there any God besides me?
No, there is no other Rock; I know not one."

Amen. Well said, Amanda.

I prayed for you this morning and asked the Lord for favor for you, as you stood in line.

I well remember the precious-ness of MDO, while pregnant with my second. It is certainly treasured time--with friends or however you need it!

Amanda,

I couldn't have said it any better myself. No matter what the outcome of this election Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow!

It thrilled me to no end to be able to walk right up to the polls and vote...especially since I had little man with me. (: We were prepared for the worst though with sippy cups, snacks, and toys!!!

I just blogged about this as well, Amanda. That whomever takes office, God is in charge of that person and their authority. There is great peace in knowing that.

I couldn't agree more! I was prepared to stand in line for sevreal hours today - even made a plan with a friend to meet there so we could chat the time away... and walked in, voted, and was back in my car within 5 minutes!

What is now done is done. From this point on, we rest in the Soverignty of God, continue to pray for our nation and its leaders, and continue to faithfully serve our Living King.

So glad you got to vote quickly.

I stood in line for you! :) (Voted on Thurs. and waited in line for an hour and a half. No joke! Awful! However, I am not with child!)

Mrs. Amanda,

Thankyou for the word of encouragement that no matter who is elected our President, there is One who is ultimately in charge over all the nations. There is no other Rock, we know not any...I feel as if things are about to change in America, and I am still praying that revival will come. The Lord works in ways we could never have imagined beforehand. We have to examine ourselves and repent as individuals and as a nation. I've watched Kay Arthur's series on America at a Crossroads, and I agree, revival is necessary. It is what our country needs. It will be interesting to see how God works in our country and the world over the next 4-8 years. We are living in an exciting time, I think.

Blessings to you,

Micah 6:8 (AMP)
"He has showed you, O man, what is good. And what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, and to love kindness and mercy, and to humble yourself and walk humbly with your God?"

I remember after 911 happened. I was really, really pregnant with my daughter. I work at a federal facility, and security was very very tight. It would take upwards of two hours to get in the gates of the facility because of all of the extra precautions. That was not good news for this pregnant girl! I mean... they could have at least had port-a-potties along the way! haha. It is funny now... but, it sure wasn't then.
