My baby is five months old. *Tear* How did this happen? Every time I see a baby who's younger than Annabeth, it freaks me out. She should still be the smallest baby, not the baby who stretches all the way across the whole Bobby pillow! Even so, I wouldn't trade this stage for the newborn stage. Annabeth is so much fun and so sweet at five months. She's such a happy, laid back girl. All you need to do to make her smile is look her in the eye and say something.
I just got done with a little photo shoot of her and Big Pink Bear and as I was looking through the pictures, my heart started to ache. Seriously ache. I love her so much.
While we were in Galveston for the 4th of July, my dad told my mom that he thought Annabeth and I were soul mates. I don't know what made him say that, but it was precious to me. My mom and I are such kindred spirits and we've always been very close. Nothing would thrill me more than to have that kind of relationship with my own daughter. I see a special bond between Jackson and Curtis, too, and I wouldn't have understood it without Annabeth.
Annabeth, at five months old:
-You still sleep through the night.
-You go to bed at random times and you wake up by 8. You lay there so quietly and happily that I don't know exactly when your sweet eyes open for the day.
-You nap 2 or 3 times a day. The times and lengths are different every day. Sometimes I can get you and Jackson to sleep at the same time and that is a bonus.
-You think your brother is hilarious and you love any attention from him.
-You love your baths.
-In a house full of cars, trucks, and balls, you have a few toys of your own. You have a couple of rattles, a plush fish bowl, two sets of keys, and some lovies. You like to hold your lovies and suck your thumb.
-The swing no longer puts you to sleep. It invigorates you! You think it's fun.
-You are so big in your bouncy seat. I wonder how much longer you will be able to sit in it.
-You like your jumperoo, but your feet don't really touch the bottom yet.
-You will sit happily in mommy's lap, which is something I prayed for.
-I think you know your name.
-I wouldn't be shocked if you turned out to be left-handed. I'm sure it's too early to tell though.
-You still favor mommy, but you've stopped crying when you're being held by someone else and you see me.
-Which means you've really warmed up to all your LPM Aunties.
-You know your grandparents and are very peaceful and happy with them.
-You loved girl time in Galveston with Bibby and Aunt Lissa. You did NOT want to go to sleep and miss anything. You sat alert and looked at everyone like, "Okay, let's talk!" You were so much fun.
-You've started to fuss in restaurants. I had to take you out for the first time a couple of weeks ago when we were at a Japanese Steakhouse. You usually make it until right before the food comes and then you start to cry. If I get up and walk you around for a minute, or hold you just so, you will fall asleep and I can put you back in the carrier. No problem!
-You don't have any teeth yet.
-We're working on the tripod every day.
-You're a little more okay with tummy time, but you're still not a big fan. Sometimes you roll over right away. If you don't roll within 30 seconds, you never will. You have not rolled from back to front yet.
-We will start you on cereal soon.
-You have a bald spot on the back of your head. So we need more tummy time! It will go away when you start to sit up.
-You are absolutely beautiful. You look so much like your brother (which means you look a lot like your daddy).
-You smile all the time and do little bitty laughs, but you don't belly laugh very often. When you do it just makes my day.
-You like to crinkle your nose and make a little flirty face.
-We call you Princess Peach, Annabeth Girl, Sweet Sister and Sissy.
-You are loved by everyone who knows you!

You look just like a baby doll in this picture.

In the last few days you've started to suck on your bottom lip. You look so funny when you do that - like an old lady without her dentures.

You weren't really feeling the rocking chair today.

Special thanks to Nana/Cozy for Annabeth's new bow. She had mercy on me when I struck out two times trying to get the one that was the right color for that shirt. The bow is from
Jelly Beans in Springfield, MO, and the bloomers are from
Ruffle Butts. Most of the bows I've bought are from
Doodles here in Houston. That's probably the number one question I get asked, other than
What is it like to be BM's daughter?
