8 Days In

Every time I start to blog, I feel like taking a nap or going to bed instead. This is because I'm waking up at 6 AM now. By 8 PM I could go to sleep but that feels lame. So I stay up and eat too many Julio's chips and try to find something nice and British on Netflix. Most nights I give up. Last night I watched Daniel Deronda. By 10 PM I'm toast.

God knows how much I hate waking up to the sound of an alarm clock, so He's been waking me up on His own at 5:45.

My new journal has owls on it. I hope I will write some wise things in it.

It took Jackson 7 wake-ups to ask if he had to go to kindergarten again today. That was pretty good, I think. He requested another date at Splashtown instead.

He loves school and has absolutely nothing to say that he doesn't like. He told me that thinking of something to write during writing time is hard. I understand.

My gosh-what time does Jackson's school start?? Ours doesn't start until 8:45, so 6AM wake up is not in the cards for us, thank goodness. My in-laws watched a show that seemed nice and British all the time on Netflix. I'll have to ask them what it was and email you.

Bless you, busy mama! I SO enjoyed listening to your sweet mom gush about her daughters and grandbabies at LPL in Salt Lake City last weekend. Her devotion, love, and gratefulness for all of you is so apparent and it encourages me to love my people like you all love one another. Blessings to you today!

I stay up late and shovel down Xochitl salt-less chips and Jack's Special Salsa (so glad to know I'm not the only one who indulges in late night chips and salsa). Then I have weird dreams all night and wake up at 6 to get some work done before the kids get up. I think cilantro and I must not get along, but I just can't help myself. Usually Victoria Justice sings a Jackson 5 remake over and over in one continuous loop as I fight to make her leave my head so I can get a few hours' sleep. School starts in seven days and I am already breaking out like a teenager thinking of the stress of a schedule. Ugh!

So, at negative seven days in, I'm living in an eerily parallel universe to yours, what with the chips, salsa, struggling to write, and reluctant wake-ups. Here's praying all us moms experience the peace that surpasses all understanding as the new school year gets underway -- something tells me our sanity depends on it!

We started our home school year August 1. My second, a boy, is also a kindergartener. I want to bang my head on the table at times; I forgot what it was like with a non-reader (although he is reading some now)! Anyway, I take a nap almost daily because I'm so wiped out. I recently watched Wives and Daughters on Netflix- loved it!

I understand too, Jackson and Amanda. :)

So thrilled he is loving school! That takes a weight off the Mama heart, doesn't it?

Have a wonderful day!

Downton Abbey is good too :) It's my 'go-to' show for nap times!

I hear you on the British Netflix finds. What did you think of Daniel? What else have you seen?

So amazing that it's already 8 days! What an exciting time and I'm sure the weekends with the whole family together is very sweet!

YES! I'm so tired lately (more from being at home all summer with 4 kids, which is insanely wonderful but also unspeakably exhausting) that my blogging has gone phthpt. (Real word. Look it up.)

It's just what happens, Jackson. It will all come back once we all get used to the new routine. (Right Amanda?)

It gets easier as you move forward. Keep your chin up! Once Jackson gets his driver's license you will look back on these days as a "cake walk". Honestly, I miss what you are embarking on. My youngest is in Grad School at SMU.

Your mother announced your pregnancy with Jackson at the Knoxville Living Proof event in 2005 ... and I was in the audience, with my pg belly. My daughter started K this year, too!

Our school starts at 7:30 am - so early wake ups are the norm. Thankfully, my boys are morning people, but my poor sweet daughter really struggles! She's sound asleep by 7:35 pm most nights.

I was curious as to your televisions situation - I know you got rid of cable some time back...and see you have supplemented with Netflix. How is that going? Have you reinstated cable or even just basic networks? I'm just curious and like to see what is working for others.

I have to wake three of my boys up at 6:15 for school. I love how the whole first week, they would roll over and look at me like I had totally lost my mind, and then reality would set in, that school was back in session!

Oh my... do I get the feeling of 5:45am... that's when i get up to stumble around and get my kids going. My son, in 2nd grade this year, I still have to carry to the livingroom to wake up on the couch. However, my daughter bounds out of bed as soon as she is awake enough to hear the word "school." She is in Kindergarten too.

I have GOT to get this waking up thing under control, I have so much to do during the day, and really don't know where to start! :)

And I also relate to the mommy anxiety of the sending off the baby to school. We moved just outside the town limits, so they are taking the bus for the first time. My heart was anxious the whole week before!
God bless,
Heather

I am not a morning person, so I get it. We get up at 6:30, cause my kids ride the bus, usually. Not so much this year, as my daughter will be having early morning tutoring before school starts, so I'll be taking them 3 days a week. It helps save on gas to have them ride the bus. I have RLS and it's been keeping me awake, which is making me depressed, so that's hard, too. Praying for you girl.

I've been waking up at 6:15, which is HUGE for this non morning person. The new routine for a school going mommy. It took Ella 4 wake ups before she asked does she have to go to school. Ha! 7 is really good. :-)

Yes! Yes! Yes! to the too much eating of Julio's chips and always the search for something nice and British on Netflix. That's always what's going on here. Recommend: oldie but goodie- Chariots of Fire.
