Chocolate Party

Earlier today I wrote a down-in-the-dumps post that I thought best to abandon. Instead of hitting publish, I walked into my kitchen and found some chocolate and things started looking up. This is probably TMI, but we're all girls, right? My hormones have been whacked since Annabeth was born, such that I cannot predict when my melancholy, irritability, ravenous appetite, and poor body image is going to take over. But let's go back to the topic of chocolate.

Yesterday I accidentally mentioned getting frozen yogurt to my kids before I knew if I was serious about it or not. I'd been out all day, it was freezing cold, and the kids were tired from school, so I changed my mind and pointed the car home. Jackson was not shy in sharing his devastation at my change of plans. And, truly, I felt bad that I'd made such a rookie mistake.

So I did two things. First, I spent about five minutes making a chorus of fake flatulence for my kids. They quickly forgot all about the fro-yo and Jackson was laughing so hard he couldn't breathe. Those of you who do not have sons may not understand my actions. Let me tell you that having a little boy will cause you to do and experience many things you could have never imagined.

The second thing I did to console my children was promise to have a chocolate party at home. This was a huge hit, especially with my hormones. I made hot chocolate and each one of us had a bowl with a brownie (thanks, Nancy!), a few M&M's, and two chocolate wafer cookies. It was a chocolate extravaganza. Call me Wilhemina Wonka. Annabeth was really into the M&M's but she didn't know what to think about eating the brownie. Instead, she held it up to her ear like a phone and started talking to Bibby. I ended up having to dig some brownie remnants out of there.

By nighttime I had descended into such a bad mood that I felt it best to end the day early. Maybe it was a chocolate hangover. At any rate, I was asleep by 8:30. My body clock was very confused and woke me up at midnight, which is when my mind decided spend an hour analyzing a recent conflict and panic about something stupid I said on Twitter. I think I'll go to bed later tonight.

It just wouldn't be right if I didn't continue this week's theme of copying others. Kristen and Jamie say it's national de-lurking day. So if you're not a regular commenter, I'd love to hear from you! Are we connected by a mutual friend? Or by a second cousin? Or by the Spanish National Honor Society of Cypress Falls High School? Or by our love of red and white polka dot blog backgrounds? Or by an unreasonable fear of wind and tornados? Whatever it is, don't feel weird. You couldn't possibly be weirder than me. Just say hi!

Not de-lurking (you know I'm here :)), but seriously, the fake flatulence thing was hilarious. Jakson passed some gas yesterday and so I asked if he needed to go potty-he looked at me and said, "my butt said no". Nice.

Amanda said...

I just laughed out loud. I can't even count how many times Jackson's gotten in trouble for saying butt this week.

Love these delurking callouts...haha.

My name's Ashley, I've been reading your blog for...um...a long time. :-) What do you and I have in common? A love for Compassion International, among other things. Just stopping by, saying hi, and ending my lurking days. :-)

I don't think I have ever commented on here but I have been reading your blog for a few years. I don't know you personally but we have a mutual friend, Jenn H. from LPM. I also feel where you are coming from on the whole "wake up at midnight and rehash something you said or wrote earlier that day" Welcome to my world! Love reading your REAL LIFE blog. Makes me feel more normal-if that is possible.

Called Out! I found your blog through Kelly Stamps. Also, I attend Tuesday night Bible Study with you and a few others. =)
And now I feel like a total creeper for reading your blog and never saying hi!!!
Thanks for your honest approach to everything. It is such a blessing to hear real thoughts from a Christian woman trying to deal with everything thrown at us in this crazy world. Thanks for sharing!

Amanda, I've never commented, but just wanted to say hi and I think you're a fantastic Mom. I really appreciate how candid you are in your posts. Kudos to you for sharing your life with the world wide web. Have a great weekend and God Bless!

Hi! I think I have commented once or twice, but not regularly. I have 2 kids that are almost identical in age to yours. I have a 5 year old who is a Jackson too, and an almost 2 year old little boy named Ace. I love your blog!

I kind of lurk and I'm deathly afraid of tornados, wind and severe thunderstorms. And I could really use a chocolate party.

I forget to comment (it's my cardinal blogging sin, besides getting so busy with life that I miraculously read other people's blogs and forget to post on my own), but I am de-lurking because you asked so nicely!
I forget how long ago it was that I found your blog, but I sure enjoy reading!

::waving:: I think I'm a lurker! Can't remember if I've ever commented before. Found my way here by way of Compassion International. I've got a burnin' yearnin' to some day be chosen to be one of the Compassion Bloggers. Well, I already am a CI blogger, but I'd love to travel to Ghana and write about it!

De-lurking. I love your heart and hope you always keep blogging. XO

Jen Bowers, you're not a creeper. I don't comment on every blog I read either. Come say hi at Bible study next week!

Hi Amanda! I think I surfed on over from LPM? Not really sure actually. At first I was intrigued by your blog title, Baby Bangs. I don't have any kiddos of my own, but I have sisters that have 5 between the two of them (almost exactly your kids ages!) I just really love your transparency, honestly, humor and I always "walk away" blessed. Have a fun weekend.
(and I think I share your love of Mexican & Chinese food :)

Hi! I love reading your blog! Your kids are too cute. I was trying to think of commonalities and I came up with Houston. My brother-in-law lives in Houston, and he's getting married in June, so we'll be back down (I'm worried about the weather-it's going to be HOT!) I also came up with Compassion. We love our little Rwandan girl!
Many Blessings,

I'm a lurker...not sure what delurker is, and we have little in common save our love of Jesus. I just came here to see how the choco-fest went...and laughed my head off...I don't have kids, but I'm usually getting in trouble for doing that with other peoples children. :) Normally I would move on, but you said to say hi...

As a lady I shouldn't say this but I will... I have the ability to burp anytime I want, 100 times in a row, doesn't matter, just something I can do. I think God gave me that gift so that I could get all the laughter I could ever want from my guys. They think I am the coolest mom ever! ha

I've been reading your blog for a few years. I'm from NW Missouri, but I have family and friends in Springfield. I have a Jackson, too! I met Amber this summer in St. Louis at a LPL event. I started reading her blog because of your blog, and I found out she is the cousin of one of my friends from high school. Did that make any sense?

i'm not a lurker. sort of. ok, i might be. i've commented before, but not very often. anyway, i'm rhonda in dallas!

i have two girls (5 & 3) and a 20 month-old boy, and the flatulence would work for any of them. which might be bad as far as my score in raising proper southern belles. i don't know... :0) i do blame it on my husby, however!

I have commented about 3x's on your blog, I don't know is this is regular or not. I do love reading blogs because I am such a people person although I must admit it can get overwhelming once you get started on one blog it can lead you to so many more. I get sucked in to the black hole of the blogging world and I don't even blog myself!! I have tried a couple of times and have failed at the discipline of it!!

My kids would love that you put on a flatulence show for your children! My two are 15(Anna) and 12(Bryan) and request frequently to rewind(several times) a flatulence scene in any given movie we are watching. Why is it so funny? Is it sacrilegious to wonder if Jesus and His disciples would have a good laugh if one such noise would come from one of them?

I bet you are glad you asked us to comment?!?!. You can block me if you want to ;-). You see, like your own twitter comment, we all analyze and obsess over what we post.

I will be thinking of you when I open my next bag of plain M&Ms.

We're sort of connected by a mutual friend... Are you ready for this?

Your husband had a friend named John Arbuckle. One of John's best friends growing up was my friend and sister-in-law, Jeri Ann.

How in the world do I know this? I don't know, especially in light of the aforementioned recent birth. I somehow remember something about John going to Isreal or somewhere with Curtis (and you and your mom) when Jeri Ann and I were working at church camp.

Anyway, we're practically best friends, huh?

Sorry your hormones are going crazy. I can totally relate.

Hey Amanda! I was one who asked what exactly a chocolate party was yesterday on Twitter!! Let's see - I have a daughter about two weeks older than AB and I love reading your posts to see how much our little ones are alike. I also have a nephew named Jackson. As far as any other degrees of separation, I attended DBU from 02-06 and know quite a few of the people you know from FBC Irving. Then one day on Twitter you said something about a former college girl - and I believe you were speaking about B.S. who I knew in college as well.
So that is our "6 degrees of separation"

Have a good weekend!!

Hi Amanda

I came to your blog via the Compassion blog. I have two little boys who both love all things potty related. They are 6 and 4 respectively and think the funniest thing in the world is to say the word "butt". Where does this even come from??

My sister just sent me a recipe for home made Peppermint Patties. I really got me thinking about those sundaes I used to get a Friendly's. Like Reece's Peanut Butter Cup. So good!

Becky said...

De-lurking it is! I would say we are connected since we both "have been making a chorus of fake flatulence for my kids." but truth is that my kids are 23 and 18. So that won't work! I came across your blog from BooMama or Big Mama about a year ago and have been reading since. I have a son who is Jackson's age and a 2 year old daughter so we have some things in common.

While everyone else in the world is on a diet in January my body decides this is the month that I will crave all things sweet even though I'm still stuffed from dinner, so a chocolate fest is sounding really good to me. And I feel like I should take my kids to get some frozen yogurt except that it's so cold here lately!

I really enjoy reading your blog. Your honesty and vulnerability encourages me, so thanks!

De-lurking. I've followed your blog for a long time - I have a 5 year old (almost 6) boy and a 2 year old (almost 3) girl, so it's been fun to see what's happening with your boy and girl. I probably found you via bigmama or boomama. Hard to remember! I moved to Texas (the Rio Grande Valley) almost a year and a half ago, and it's been nice to have a Texan blog or two to read.

Hey Amanda,
I think I've commented once before, but I'll comment again just to be safe. I either found your blog through LPM or Shaun Groves' blog, I can't remember which. I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts and really appreciate your refreshing honesty. Some posts are so funny, I laugh out loud! Thank you for that! :0) Many blessings to you and yours.

I just started reading your blog and enjoy it very much! I appreciate your heart for Jesus and relate to much of what you experience as a mommy trying to seek Him. I'm also a Siesta!

Hi Amanda! In honor of "de-lurking" month, week, day...whatever, here's a shout-out from the Seattle, Washington area. I can't remember how I came across your blog, but since I'm sporting a serious set of baby bangs after the birth of my son (6 mo.), your blog title makes me feel like I'm in good company. I love hearing about your funny interactions with Jackson, and all his antics, because until our little Carter arrived on the scene, it was all Barbies and baby dolls around here (two older sisters - 9 & 7). So you're saying I should brush up on my boy noises ? :)

Tiff said...

I just de-lurked Debra Parker, too(or I was de-lurked... do I do it or does someone do it to me by calling me on it?? Who knows.) So anyway, perhaps I found you two somehow through the same source? No idea anymore, it's been so long. But I love how you share the things you discover in your honest introspection, your irrational fears, your random thoughts, and the fact that you make me feel good about me by being you. I know I would love hanging out with you if not for the many miles between our homes. :)

Jenn said...

Amanda, I read your blog all the time, although I haven't commented in a long while. You left a comment on mine, I think after you found me through Amy Beth Bullard.

I love your blog and I feel like I've done nearly every bible study your sweet Mama has put out!

The snow here in north georgia has turned my attitude from sweet to supersour in a matter of 8 inches. I'm so ready for this snow and ice to be gone.

Again, I love your blog! Thank you for always being honest and encouraging!!

Hi! I'm coming clean....I've been lurking! I love your honesty and sincerity. I haven't commented before because I, honestly, have had a difficult time figuring out how to do it. HA! Have a great, chocolate weekend!

I've been reading your blog off and on since before your daughter was born, but I don't think I've ever commented. I not a big commenter, but I do enjoy reading your blog! You crack me up....
Now that I've come out of the "blog closet" maybe I'll comment now and then! :)

Shelby said...

Hey I have been a lurker seen finding you off of "kellys korner". I started reading your blog when you were pregnant with Annabeth I was also pregnant so that is what we had in commom!! ha Love your blog and your "realness" that you write about.

Having three boys this just made my boy momma heart so very happy!!!! Enjoy that guy to the bones Amanda!

You are a fabulous momma!

Sandy said...

The only time I commented was another time when you specifically asked....and I'll say we are connected through answered prayer...when God sent my daughter to Houston and I prayed for friends for her....God gave her you and all those other beautiful Bible believing Texas belles!

That makes me one thankful Mama who laughs and cries with you, prays often and is amazed that I have that privilege. Thank you for all your heartfelt honesty!

Hi, so, I think you and I have a few friends in common...and...my sister in law Stephanie Gahm and I think you know my mom Cheryl Gahm... I love your honesty on being a wife and mom. It's just good. I have a 19 month old boy and am expecting twins boys in the next few weeks. We are all about boys around here!

Hi Amanda! Long time reader, first time commenter. I am a stay at home mom of 5 boys and just found out #6 is a little girl! I feel like I've had baby bangs forever!!! I love reading your blog for it's honesty and also for the good places to eat. :) If I ever make it to Texas, I have a list of places to try!

Have a great weekend,

De-lurking. :) I found you through the LPM blog, and I stalk you on twitter, too. :) My kids are 11, 10 and 8 now, but your Jackson and Annabeth stories remind me so much of my son and first daughter when they were younger. You're a great mom!

Anonymous said...

Oh Amanda! I'm officially un-lurking. I have been reading your blog for quite awhile and the only "connection" we have is that I can't stay away from your mom's bible studies. Ok, you probably hear that a lot, but I just LOVE reading your blog! I feel like you are my friend, you are honest and transparent and its so refreshing to see another mom, the same stage I'm at in life - be honest and encourage and inspire all at the same time. You crack me up and I adore Jackson and Annabeth's antics as well. Keep up the honesty because your chocolate party was a relief to read about after my ice cream party today. Hormones Schmorenones, I can relate with those for sure! Much love, Sherri

Amanda,

I am a siesta (Terri from Alabama), but do not post very often.

You may want to have your thyroid checked. It gets out of whack when you are pregnant, and usually goes back to normal after you have the baby. But, everything you are describing suggests that it may not have.

About the fake flatulence thing... my son (6) and a friend discovered that they could get bendy straws and put the bendy part in their mouth... and put the other end at their arm pit, keeping their arms close to their bodies... and blow through the bendy straw and it makes some pretty good noises if you are into that kind. ha!

Kelsey said...

De-lurking here...I found your blog from Kelly's Korner but I continue to read because I think you are hilarious and really down to earth. Plus I'm a fellow Texan so I love that too!

Sara said...

Love reading your blog! I hopped over from Kelly's blog a while back and have enjoyed keeping up since then:)

Kiki said...

I'm thinking my hormones are laughing at me! I might have just put that together. I'm kind of a wreck.

I just put a pan of brownies in the oven because I've been craving some chocolatey Daley something for days!

Noises of flatulence. How have I never thought of that? I kind of think they're funny too. Maybe I shouldn't admit that!

Hi Amanda,
I have read your blog for a while and have commented only a couple of times. I have 2 girls (9 &10) and just love reading other mom's struggles, their highs and lows, the laughter, the tears, the insight and wisdom learned. It is so nice to be reminded that we are not doing this alone, that other sisters in Christ are right along with us. I wish I were a better blogger!!

Maryellen said...

Hi Amanda - I've been reading your blog for awhile. I think what we have in common is our love for your Mom. I've done so many of her wonderful bible studies and am always so blessed. I also took her blog advice and when visiting Texas ate at Gaido's (hope I'm spelling it correctly) The seafood restaurant. WOW was your Mom ever right. Best darn baked potato I ever, ever ate. It was loaded ! hah I enjoy your blog you are so funny and very clever how you write. Blessings

De-lurking. Found Baby Bangs through LPM blog.... I have 10 and 7 year old sons and your stories of Jackson remind me of their sweet "little boy" days. Enjoy them! Boys are always wonderful but these days are precious and far too few! I also have an 18 month old girl so your stories of Annabeth are right up my alley too!
Blessings to you. Your heart and spirit are often an encouragement to me!

I don't comment often, but I read all your posts! This one I can totally relate to! I am pregnant, though, so my hormones are a little more consistently crazy. Today I started crying listening to a girl singing the national anthem on the radio. REALLY?!?

Jana said...

Lurk a lot from me... I read every post though! I feel like I know you and your family, and I also can completely relate to about everything you do with the kids. Have a good evening!

kittyhox said...

I'm not a lurker, but I used to comment a lot more frequently than I do these days... so I thought I'd say, "Hi! I still read your blog!"

I'm learning that being silly is a good way for me to diffuse certain situations with my son (4.5) - especially in the car. I try to distract him, cheer him up, act crazy to make him smile and laugh even if he's determined not to - and it usually makes the bad mood or whining go away. And I don't have to feel like bad cop all the livelong day. I haven't tried the fake tooting thing, though! I'll have to save that for an emergency. :)

Meg said...

I have only commented one or two times but I L!O!V!E! this blog! You are so witty and I can completely relate with most of what you write about! (I also have two small children a boy who is 4 and a daughter who is 2) Anywho, you are one of my all time faves!

Heather said...

Okay, deep breath . . . delurking here! I have followed your blog for quite a long time now; I found it via Kelly's Korner.

I am the mommy of 3 boys (ages 4, 3 and 4 months). I really love your authenticity and the way that you share the good, the bad, and the ugly (esp. as it pertains to mothering spirited boys)!

I have never commented before. I always feel a little silly commenting on a big blog. I have a little family blog that serves as our scrapbook; it's just read by our friends and family. But, thanks for calling me out today! ;-)

Amanda said...

If anyone sees this, I've always wanted to ask. Lots of people have said along the way that they found me through the LPM blog, except I've been very careful never to link to this blog from there. So did I make a mistake somewhere?

SassyAtty said...

Called out here in Kansas City! I think I found your blog through LPM and I just love how honest you are about marriage, motherhood and managing the mania!!!

Amanda said...

Let me add that the only reason I've never linked is because I didn't want to get work questions over here and I wanted to keep the casual voice of a personal family blog rather than my "work voice." I hope that makes sense.

Lisa said...

Guilty as charged, Amanda! Major lurker. Not proud of it, but now that you've given me that push over the hill, I'm admitting it. I think I really felt a connection with you from the moment I found your blog because so many things you have said and done, and so many things you say that you enjoy and make you happy, are things I have always enjoyed, like tea in pretty cups, Pottery Barn furniture, and Biolage shampoo. Maybe it's best to say I find a kindred spirit in you as a Christian, a wife, a mother, and mostly, a girl!!! I live way north of you, don't know anyone you know, and have only been to Houston twice. Still, I keep coming back, because I need to drool over your house pictures and find out what your kiddos have been up to. I have a daughter and two sons, and so much of what you talk about rings true in my daily life here, especially the boy stuff. My husband taught my son to say "Geronimo!!!" every time he passes gas, and has also taught him to wipe his hand over his mouth and say, "Aaaah, whiskey!" every time he takes a drink. Yes, I'm raising three boys, apparently!
Anyway, I've commented before, but not for a while, because I've been a rotten old lurker pants. I'm sorry!

Lisa

Amanda, I think if you click on the profile for the LPM blog, there is a link for you, your mom and Melissa. It then shows what other blogs there are linked to you. (at least it did when the LPM blog was hosted by blogger) I think that's how I found you...or maybe I found you on another blog I stalk. I've been reading your blog for about 2 years. I love how real you are with us. You are a wonderful Christian woman who is as real as the rest of us. And I love that. I pretend I know you in real life! :)

I "think" I found your blog through Alana Bethea and Becky Kiser. My husband and I were in the Newlyweds class with Chris and Becky 2 years ago. I like your down to earth blogs and can relate on so many levels...starting with baby bangs! They are SO annoying!:)

Hello Amanda :) I comment here and there - but I haven't in a while :)

I know what you are talking about with the irritability/need of chocolate thing. I'm right there with you, girl :) I have a stash of mini candy bars in my laundry room. Yum. What's weird - is that I was never really a chocolate lover until after I had my second baby. After she came - chocolate has been my thang.

I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Be encouraged knowing that I often times pray for you and your family after I drop by your blog!

Sweet Blessings,

Well, I have commented before but I suppose I'm mostly a lurker:). Let's see I'm from Spring, although I live in Fort Campbell, KY now. I'm an Aggie. And you're friends with some girls I grew up with in church youth group. Ok, I think that's it.

Also, totally with you on the mother of boys thing. I don't consider myself particularly delicate or dainty BUT I did not anticipate hearing myself suggest to my husband that he take our 2 year old son to a monster truck rally because he's obsessed with big rig trucks...yep. In my defense, my husband is finishing up a year long deployment and our son is starved for testosterone but nonetheless:).

On a more serious note, have you had your thyroid checked lately? Since you said your ups and downs have been post Annabelle your thyroid might be out of wack...just a thought.

Coming out of the lurk here...Been reading you for a while. Love your blog, but mostly your honesty! I laugh frequently at your stories simply because I completely RELATE!! We have kids at the same (or similar?) ages -- my son Connor is 4 1/2 and my daughter Kaitlynn is 18 months. Oh and I also live in Houston (NW side). And speaking of things alike...I have the craziest "baby bangs" since my daughter was born, I too have hormones out of whack since then, and ditto ditto ditto on the chocolate. So yes, MUCH in common! Have a great weekend!

i comment once and awhile. I found you somehow while I was bored and pregnant, clicking on other peoples blog links. Who knows how I got to you. But I'm glad I did. I had baby bangs and I finally knew what to call them. I used that phrase a lot since I've had three kids. I'm currently sporting 2 inch baby bangs, 9 months after my daughters birth. I've grown out my first child's baby bangs and my second child's baby bangs are now fabulous layers.

Holy Cow! Wish I had known about de-lurking day...I decided to do the confession thing and that would have the been the most fun time to call people out! I don't think my lurkers would have commented, anyway. They're stubborn ;) I have the opposite problem - I'm an over-commenter. I'm glad to know I'm not the only one with the mood issues...I've felt like crying for two days. Maybe it's because I'm fasting chocolate...hmmm.

Hi Amanda...I'm a empty nester. Miss having little ones around, get a kick reading about your adventures with your childer. Squeeze them tight everyday. They grow to fast. Jeannie said...

Hi Amanda. I've also been reading a couple of years and truly cannot remember exactly how I ended up here. Must have been through another blog. I am a huge fan of your mom's! But, the reason I keep coming back is that I love reading about your life with your preschoolers. My 2 boys are 13 and 16 now so it reminds me of their younger days. I could so relate to your changing your mind after throwing out the idea before the kids, retracting it, and having them fall apart. I did that a few times too as a "rookie" before I learned not to think out loud with my kids. I have to say, you were ingenious in your recovery between the chorous of flatulence and the chocolate party. They will be remembering that for a long time! You are an encouragement to moms by just the way you candidly share your life here!

I have recently renewed my commitment to Christ, and a single mom... so while we don't have those exactly in common, motherhood and Christ bring us together.

And, I am a proud mom of 3 wonderful boys. Your AB and my last one were born a few days apart. I can so relate to the whole hormone thing & "Boys' Noise". Delurking...I've been a long time reader. Our commonality--mommyhood! Our kids are near the same ages, and it's always fun to read about how others handle the tedious walk called parenthood!

Thanks for sharing your days with us!

Ok - ok - I have been reading your blog for a while and have never commented that I can remember. I found you through Melinda Garman at Traveling The Road Home. We have lots in common. I have sponsored a child through Compassion International for years. Your trip and posts this year inspired me to sponsor another. I love your honesty in raising your kids and trying to be a good Christian. We've got lots of blog friends in common, too. And we both love your mom! Look forward to maybe meeting you one day. xo

Hi! Love your blog! I started reading around when you got pregnant with AnnaBeth. We were trying to get pregnant and did a few months later. I have a little girl who is 20 months old and love reading what you have to say about AnnaBeth and Jackson as well! You're a great Mom and I get lots of inspiration from you!

Hey Amanda! My name is Heather Ingram (Lux now) and I have been reading your blog for about a year, sorry for the lurking!! I was on the Servant Team for the Houston Project in 2000, you and Curtis actually picked me and another girl up at the airport (you probably don't remember). And then I was an intern for a summer in the Houston/St. Louis project. Anyways, I love reading your blog and it usually makes me laugh. But most of all it reminds me that I'm not the only mom going through certain things with my 2 year old daughter. Thank you for being so open and honest with your posts.

I'm not sure how I found your blog, probably boo mama or kelly's korner? I'm the Mama to a baby boy in heaven and a sweet 2 month old miracle. I was raised in Georgia, but lived in Texas for five years while my husband was in grad school. I read your blog because I love your honesty about parenting, enjoy hearing about Texas (we are now in NY), and can totally relate to the repeating thing. I struggle with the need to be liked and think about what I've said and others responses. Maybe it just one of the joys of being female?

My youngest sister has been Kiki's (as in Kiki's crowd) best friend since 3rd grade. I have a 6 1/2 year old boy and a just turned 4 year old daughter so I feel like we're walking the same road a few steps apart. And I have blog envy - wish I updated mine 1/2 as often as you do.

I have followed the ministry blog forever and could count the times I comment on 1 hand, but LOVE it. I have followed you for a long time as well as Big Mama, Boo Mama, Travis and the list would go on some more. It is fun to feel so connected with people through this "blogging thing".
Just joined the Siesta scripture memory verse "gals". Could be a challenge for this middle aged mind.

Hi! De-lurking here...I stop by often...come from Kelly's Korner. I don't know if I've ever commented before, but I have 9 month old twins who JUST started sleeping through the night, so Lord only knows What I've said Where recently! =)

Love your humor, faith, and honesty about how difficult motherhood can be sometimes...it's refreshing and encouraging! Nice to hear from other women who love, love, LOVE their kids, but are still willing to admit they don't love everything about motherHOOD.

Hi Amanda---de-lurking here. Not sure how I found your blog...but I am a big fan of your mom so perhaps that is how. You are an excellent writer---love your combination of humor, honesty, transparency, and of course your faith in our Heavenly Father. Many blessings on you--thanks for writing!

P.S. My husband and I have four kids--22, 19, 17, and 12. It doesn't seem that long ago I was in your shoes...I love where our kids are now, but I do miss a lot about the days you are in right now. Enjoy every moment--even when you are stretched to your limits!

I have commented before but not often.
I have missionary friends in UAE and S.Sudan.
I have two kidcats. Sam and Kate. Just like real brother and sisters, when I get on the telephone, long distance. I have to place them in seperate rooms.
I love children and love reading about your kids. And other bloggers kids.
I also get simple recipes from several bloggers. Like Mels Mississippi Sin Dip. She makes it in the fall for Aggies FB games.

My name is Michelle, and we have a mutual friend I believe! I hope you don't mind me stalking your blog. :) But, I have a daughter that is around Annabeth's age...and I have read your blog for probably 6 months. I've loved the LPM blog much longer!! I LOVE your posts...and find lots of encouragement as a mom and a Christian. Not that you have time to read everyone else's blogs, but mine is www.thepurtlepage.blogspot.com. I feel like I should give you an equal opportunity to stalk. haha!

Have a nice weekend!!

Hi! I've been reading your blog for a couple years now since I got into the whole blog reading thing. My best friend is the one who got my started on it and introduced me to your blog and others...I'm pretty sure you first met her in Katy through Marla when she stayed at her house during her zoo trip. I have enjoyed reading about your family. You are a great encouragement as a mother!!!

De-lurking. Followed your blog for awhile, and we got to meet at the Siesta Scripture Memory deal in Houston last year. I was a last minute tag along due to a failed adoption and but thankfully now I'm about to celebrate my little man's first birthday so I'm sure we will someday be doing all things boy so I loved this post.

In the spirit of delurking...

I laughed out loud about your comment about Annabeth holding the brownie up to her ear and having a phone conversation. My son, 22 months, does that lately at least 3 times a week. Yesterday, it was his sandwich. "Hewoooo?". Love it!

I'm not sure how I came across your blog, but I love reading it!

i clicked on your blog from another friends blog roll:) i am always up for chocolate:)

Total lurker. As a mom with small children of my own (8,6,4), I always appreciate a tellin' of the day that brings laughter. Sometimes my day doesn't seem funny until I see it echoed in someone else's. Thank you.

We must have the same thing, because there will be moments where my body has this little "freak out" and I have to find something to eat. More times than not, it is chocolate. (like the nutella mistake I made yesterday. Ugh.)

Hello there! I think we are connected by approximately 1,000 things-sometimes I think we are living the same life! And I swear, I don't mean that in like a creepy, blog-stalker turned real-life stalker kind of way. :) I just love how I can relate to you as a mom, wife, woman and believer. Oh, and for the record, my hormones have been out of whack like that since my daughter was born too. I'm holding out hope that things settle down in my thirties! :)
