Happy Mother's Day

Because you're my mom, I grew up knowing Jesus.
Because you're my mom, I always felt loved.
Because you're my mom, way before you name appeared on a book or on an arena marquis, I was proud to be your daughter.
Because you're my mom, I have big hair. Big blond hair.
Because you're my mom, the mall is my natural habitat.
Because you're my mom, I love words.
Because you're my mom, I love mercy.
Because you're my mom, I believe God.
Because you're my mom, I know that no pit is so deep that we can't be pulled out and set free. I know that no life is in such disarray that He can't fix it and use it.
Because you're my mom, I like carbs.
Because you're my mom, I root for the underdog.
Because you're my mom, my favorite vacation is to your house.
Because you're my mom, I am blessed beyond measure.

  1. A beautiful tribute to a woman who is truly beautiful inside and out! I echo many of your sentiments except with the entry being, "Because you have allowed God to work through you writing Bible studies. . ."

I recently found your blog, and I love it! You are truly blessed! Happy Mother's Day to you, Amanda!

  2. The big hair and the carbs?

That's a precious heritage right there.

And seriously - I can't imagine that reading these words wouldn't be any mama's dream come true.

  3. HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY Amanda!! What a special thing for you to share your life with us. You are a treasure and a blessing!! :)

..thanks for the congrats...it has been a good day! :) (And as it turned out I actually DID wear the old gown...I saw several others on my walk over to the stadium so I didn't feel so bad. Lots of people trying to save money I guess!)

Because I'm your mom, I finally had the courage to let God start healing my handicapped heart. You were the first thing that made anything and everything it took worth it to me.

Because I'm your mom, something I dreamed of doing from the time I was a little girl turned out to be even better than I imagined.

Because I'm your mom, I'm a grandmom of a grandson...and it doesn't get better than that.

Thank you for being the best firstborn ever.

  10. That's beautiful, Amanda.

I looked up the definition of the word "heritage" today. (Because I like words too.) One definition said: the characteristics, traits and monetary gains of a family passed from one generation to the next.

Godly parents are a true heritage!

And the love of carbs? I believe that's called a legacy.
