The last few days have been so much fun.
-We had a spontaneous visit from a loved one.
-We took her to the Dallas Arboretum, Snuffer's for lunch, and JD's Chippery for dessert.
-We had pizza at Scalini's. Jackson liked his meatball and he never made a peep.
-We went to White Rock Lake Dog Park and watched our dog swim. Jackson laughed his head off.
-We went back to JD's Chippery. So much for the diet.
-Curt lost his wallet. We had been all over town and had no clue where it was.
-We stopped and prayed, asking God to let someone find it and call us.
-Three minutes later someone called us.
-We went to Irving's Pooch Fest where Beckham enjoyed being ogled by all the ladies.
-We went to church on Saturday night, Sunday morning, and Sunday night. That is a lot of church, folks. But it's all good when you have one as sweet as ours. Tonight was the children's choir progam. Let me first say it was adorable. But I imagine it will be more fun when we have a kid in the choir. It really won't be long. They start when they're three! I can't wait!
-I really missed my family when we went home from church by ourselves to grill burgers. I wished we were all at mom's having a fish fry or something.
Here are some pictures from the last week...
Grandma Dixon, I love my new outfit. And Mommy's lens cap.
My first time to play with the water hose. I wasn't real sure about it.
At the church playground.
Waiting at the airport for our mystery guest.
Jackson's expression when he realized who the mystery guest was.
It's Biggies!
I can't be bothered to take a posed picture.
I'm so cool I need two pairs of shades.
Cooling off.
It took me a few minutes, but now I LOVE the fountain.
Mommy is overwhelmed by my handsomeness.
Peekaboo with Biggies
See ya! I have a squirrel to chase.
Okay. first things first. J. is gorgeous and how it must thrill your mom to have that face light up when he sees her...
ReplyDeleteBut what I really have to give a shout out to is your mom's sleeves. I'm having a Napoleon/Deb moment and if you haven't watched it, you totally don't understand what I am saying right now. But that shirt? Darlin'. That's all I can say. Just absolutely darlin'.
So happy you had such a blessed weekend...
Okay seriously. I don't know how his smile wouldn't make anyone's heart melt!!! Loved the peekaboo and water fountain picture. And by the way, you've got some mad photo taking skills!
ReplyDeleteYes, kudos (sp?) on the picture taking :) We had a children's musical at our church tonight too! My dad is the minister of music/youth so it's always fun to watch him show off how his God-given patience with those adorable kids has paid off!
ReplyDeleteAfter my college graduation last weekend, and my brother getting married yesterday, it was time to give dad a pat on the back too! :) (And it gave mom a bit of comic relief after the cryfest of milestones that hit her all at once!)
PS...I LOVE that you went to JD's twice..no shame ;)
..I figure, God gave me a sweet tooth for a reason, I might as well enjoy it!!! :D
Oh so sweet! I love the pictures!
ReplyDeleteCherish this fun, I'm sending my first baby off to boot camp one week from today! It really does go by so fast.
I can't believe how much Jackson has grown! Time goes by so fast. I remember when mine (now 16 and 14!) were his age. I do believe he has your mother's eyes.
ReplyDeleteJackson is soooooo adorable. He smile could light up any room. It was fun seeing pictures of him playing hide and seek. Oh, I loved the picture of the water hose. These years are priceless and I agree with Shelly, you do have mad photo taking skills! I am glad you had a fun weekend!
ReplyDeleteAll right. Here's the deal. You're going to have to warn me before you post pictures of your child smiling from ear to ear at first sight of your mama. Because I promise you that the look on his face made my stomach flip, and I'm fairly certain that my estrogen levels shot up into the stratosphere. OH MY WORD at the cuteness and the sweetness. You give that boy some sugar from me!
ReplyDeleteThat picture of Jackson seeing your mama tells me that she doesn't spoil him one bit. He couldn't be cuter. I'm so glad y'all had a great weekend.
ReplyDeleteChildren's choir programs do get sweeter when your own children are actually IN the program. For me though, they've also become more stressful with my 5 and 3 year olds in them. They had a "solo" together at ours this spring and I sweated it out the whole time until they sang there song and made it through. NO one ran out and I was so thankful that I wasn't having to comfort a humiliated child.....definately a bit more stressful but so sweet it is worth the stress. =)
ReplyDeleteand it is always sweet to see grand mother's with grandchildren.....
What a fun, fun, fun weekend! That little boy is just sweetness incarnate. Loved the photo of him by the fountain and playing with the hose. He sure does like his water, doesn't he?
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to ask: Why Biggies? A few years back when my daughter was born, we agonized over the grandparents' nicknames. We settled on Gigi and Poppa and Grammie and Papa. I never heard Biggies as an option.
Adorable, I too like the picture when Jackson sees your mom as she is getting in the car.
ReplyDeleteI to live away from all of my family... I am about to go to Florida to visit them, and I know when I leave I will miss them so much. I forget what I am missing, until I am there.. (I still miss my Mom, and Daddy, and I am in my 30's-you just don't age when it comes to your parents). But, I will say, that I know God has purposed that I live where I do, and that is what keeps me from getting overly depressed when I miss my family.
Can I ask how the "Biggies" came about? I love to hear the stories behind the names...
Blessings...
Thanks for sharing the fotos. So cute!
ReplyDeletethe water hose picture is Precious...i found myself captivated by it.....It is SO MUCH..a boy and a mystery....a young boy and a profound mystery...his face, shoulders, arms, and hands are so totally engaged!!!! it never changes does it....you are now a mom and a mystery when you behold your son and of course your mom is a woman and a mystery when she beholds her God in everything...see you've unknowingly brought me a morning meditation while we both were unaware!!!ty
ReplyDeleteBiggies is the name my sister and I call our mom. She has a new nickname every couple of years. There really isn't a reasonable explanation for it other than it stems from my sister's incorrect pronuniation of the word beignet. Her other name is Youmie, which originated from the word woman. Aren't you glad you asked? We are a bizarre family. Jackson will call her whatever he decides to name her.
ReplyDeleteWhat sweet photos! And I love the name "biggies" that's too cute! Our boys named my dad "poppy" or "poppies" and he wears it proudly. :) Our childrens choir program was this weekend as well. It is much sweeter when your kids are in it! This year I directed it and my boy was on the front row.... Boy did he make his momma's heart swell!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures! That Jackson is such a cutie!
ReplyDeleteGlad you had such a great weekend!
OK~favorite pic is J eating his shoe while waiting and next is the mystery guest! I totally wasn't thinking of her while reading so I had to giggle at how HUGE she is to all of us "out here" and to you and J she is just her. Mom and Granny. Sweet. Thanks for letting us in!
ReplyDeleteJackson is precious, his smile lights up my world and I can only imagine how much fun you all had with your surprise guest! Mom's are the best! Thanks for the pictures! The one of Jackson and your mom playing hide and seek around the tree is priceless, well actually all the pictures are, I just love that one!
ReplyDeleteSweet, sweet, sweet! The look on his face when he saw your Momma is priceless. I'm sure her heart just swelled. We all know how she loves that boy. What a fun weekend y'all must have had. Family visits (especially unexpected one) are such fun.
ReplyDeleteMy eyes teared up at the picture of Jackson seeing "Biggies." Precious, precious! My kids are crazy in love with my Mom (they call her "Mimi"), and I LOVE to see their faces light up when they see her.
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to say, I think "Biggies" is a great name for your Mom, since, you know, she is anything BUT a "Biggies."
And it's just all so discouraging, considering all of the restaurants you ate at all weekend!
Between you, your Mom, and that precious little Jackson, there are some awesome genes running in your family!
The picture of Jackson with the water hose might be my favorite picture of him ever!
ReplyDeleteI remember always feeling like the house was so empty when my mom would fly back to her home after visiting me. It usually took a couple days before I'd feel cheery again!
ReplyDeleteAnd I have to chime in on the "naming"--I have a friend whose parents are "Pop" and "Lolly" to her son--Get it? Lolly Pop! I think that's adorable and wish I'd thought of it five years ago!
I couldn't agree with sunni more...
ReplyDeleteHe is just adorable.
Oh, he is so precious, Amanda.
ReplyDeleteOh Amanda I loved the blog and photos. I also think my two favorite photos are the "shoe snack" and the look on Jackson's face when he saw his "biggies" - absolutely precious!!
ReplyDeleteI am currently visiting my parents with my two boys. We lived near them for the first 4 years and we now live about 2 hours away. I am very close to my parents and it is so much fun when we get to spend time with them. I love watching my parents in "grandparent mode" (what they won't do for those grandbabies!!)
Oh, I know it was such a fun time to spend with your mom. JOY!!
Oh and I thought "biggies" was because of how big Beth likes her hair - hehe :)
Much love!!!
My favorite picture, Amanda, is of your Mom and Jackson looking down...almost as if she's praying over the dear little one, she very well might be!
ReplyDeleteMy second is the hide and seek...I love a playful picture like that one.
And YOU! You really had me wondering who was coming to visit. You build up good suspense in your story...thanks for letting me off the hook and telling who it was :)
Bless you Sister! Chris is home safely (with only 2 hours of sleep last night).
Love in Him,
Holly
I love the waterhose pic. He is too cute for words.
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna have a heartbreaker on your hands for sure. :)
Love the Biggies story.
Love, Michelle
can you just not stand it?? it makes my heart hurt the good kind of hurt to experience moments like that with my girl. i know you feel the same way about your boy.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun weekend!! Makes me want some JD's!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have the Britax that's matchy-matchy with the auto interior. Love it!
ReplyDeleteCan you PLEASE share with us where the name "Biggies" came from? That is definitely one of a kind! Good thing your mom's not "big"...otherwise she might not like the name! Please tell us how it came to be!
ReplyDeleteOkay...nevermind with the explanation of the name Biggies. I see you already explained it! :-)
ReplyDeleteI just showed my son Daniel the pictures of Jackson and he said, "I need to play 'wit' him!". :) So cute I had to share!
