Back in Town

*UPDATE* Thanks to my husband's diligent, quick action, I already have a new phone. PTL!

Hello, all. I have been in Houston all week for work. I got to attend Bible study on Tuesday night. Whew! I finally met Debra in person (we have been reading each other's blogs for about a year) and she is just as delightful and beautiful as I knew she would be! On Wednesday there was an LPM birthday party and on Thursday we took our staff Christmas picture. Last year I couldn't make it and had to be photoshopped in. In fact, the picture was taken from the year before when I was pregnant. You couldn't tell, but still. I did not want to be pregnant in my picture 3 years in a row!

I will keep this short because I have lots to do, but I must tell you that my stupid cell phone broke again last night. This is the second Razor phone to break since this summer. They are wimpy little phones that can withstand nothing. Give me the biggest, fattest, ugliest phone out there. I bet it can handle the condensation from the water bottle in my purse. Seriously. So don't call me if you need me.

I bet you could get a brick phone on eBay. Those things could survive a nuclear attack -- or, conversely, you could attack someone with it.

You need my phone. Did you read about how mine flew off the top of my car... and is still fine?
and yes, that picture of you and Curt is one that we took. I found it in our photo album.

As i write, I'm on hold with AT&T because my phone broke. I got this phone 2 months ago when my other one broke. I leave for a mission trip on Saturday and they will not work with me-not even a loner phone. I need to walk in the fullness of the spirit-Please More Spirit. I did file a complaint with the FCC. I found this site-fyi

'Sounds like you had a fun week with your family and co-workers!

So sad about your phone...I have a 7 year old verizon one. It is very sturdy!

Enjoy your weekend, Amanda! Tell Melissa, I'd love to hear a post from her again on LPM...such a wise sister you have!

I have been pregnant during 3 of the last five Christmas seasons. 3 babies in 3 years, 3 months. I'm ready to take any picture that doesn't leave me looking pregnant!

Yeah...a momma needs a big fat phone you can get your hands around while you do 10 things at once!! I like my Verizon phone that is thick enough to hold and she's been good to me. :)

Welcome home. I'm so glad Houston was a blast!

Happy phone hunting....

Amanda...It was so good to talk with you in person. And it is true, I have followed your blog for a year. I believe you were the first person I ever commented. You commented me back and that made you my first blogger friend comment.

Am I a complete dork or what?

I will post our blog worthy picture sometime in the near future. I am having issues with myself and pictures that I need to get over.

I promise those old bag phones were the sturdiest things known to man. They didn't fit in a purse very well, but a sledgehammer couldn't take them out.

And isn't it great to have a proactive hubby?

And did you get another Razor?

Profbaugh said...

Yep, I've heard the same thing about Razors. . . I'm in the market for a new cell phone. So thanks. That just confirms what I've already heard. I'm going for something that can handle some more abuse. Erin's right. You need to get a phone like hers (the ditch ate hers and it's still workin'). She had me laughing my rear end off when she blogged about it.

So glad you got some time in Houston at LPM and the Tuesday night Bible study. It's nice to be among your fellow working sisters. But, I bet it will be even nicer to get home again too.

Safe travel.

phones...ugh.

I think we should just be made into human phones, cause none of them seem to withstand...AIR:)

Well, one of mine broke because my lovely sister got mad at me for trying to take her picture when she was REAL angry, and off it flew across the room like a bottle rocket lol.

Got a new one.

Then somehow to antennae stopped working right, and I could hardly hear people...

so got a razr, so then its all fine and all, but my cousin just broke hers before getting her sidekick...

She sat on it while it was in her back pocket cheerleading(don't ask, I don't know), but so yea she upgraded.

The side kick as far as I know has been dropped and walked around the house with her dog.

So that is probably the best one:)

Be Blessed girlie:)

Hi Amanda, two broken phones since summer, you need the phone insurance!! My verizon cell isn't pretty but it's sturdy. Seems like the newer phones are flimsier. I don't need text message or picture/video capabilities either.

I still own my first phone "the brick." I would use it but my husband said I would embarrass him. Ahhh, now that was a reliable phone!!!

I find Razors are too hard to text with - do you agree?

And yay Curtis on the phone...new gadgets are so much fun!

Good to have back. Talking about ugly phones. Mine broke in half so my husband had an old, old, anciently old phone that we had around the house hooked up. I'm talking it looks 80's old. Then to top it off my dog chewed the antenna on the thing. Nobody, I mean NOBODY, wants to borrow my phone. I am sure most people think it is I who have done the chewing. The thing is I actually have another phone to hook up but months have gone by and I still haven't made the switch. Sometimes I think I just like ugly. And I am a wee bit proud that I have the ugliest phone in most America.

The first cell phones we had were the size of a shoe box but could be turned into a weapon if needed! Maybe we need to go back to those. I hope you can find a good mommy-friendly, big purse carrying, waterproof, cute, sturdy phone!

How fun you got to meet a bloggy friend in person. The internet has changed the way we communicate, connect and live. God bless you.

Hey Amanda...

I got this back in July, my first update since January of 2001! I love it...waterproof, shock proof, sand/dust proof, you can even take pictures underwater, not that I have yet. :) I didn't get it because I have to have the lastest & greatest (see first sentence!) :) but because to be Deborah means that "things" will happen to myself and to obejects attached to me. I can't even get gold softer than 10K! :) Ha! Anyways...I'm glad to see from your edit that you're up & running, but if you're looking for a new phone in the next year or two, the army designed this one...it even comes with a flashlight! Hahaha! :)

Anyways...have a great weekend...and I'm glad you had a good time in Houston. My sister in law is pregnant for the third Christmas in the last four this year... :) But there are actually that many babies. :)

Sounds like you had a great week!
I agree with you about the Razor. I have one as well and my phone does not let me push the number 1 or 4 most of the time.
Ugh - so frustrating!
It was good to hear from you :)
Blessings,
Kim
