A lot has happened over the last few days. Here's the rundown:
Friday:
We finally got to see the David Crowder Band concert at the House of Blues. I looked forward to it for so long! If they are coming to your city and it hasn't sold out yet, you should definitely go. (You can look here to find out.) No one does a concert like DCB and they were awesome. I know nothing about music, but their sound is so creative and so fun. I regret that we got general admission tickets because we stood for three hours (30 minutes before plus 2.5 hours during). Also, I neglected to consider that in a standing room only crowd, you have no control over exactly how close people are to you. If I could do it all over again, I would definitely pay more for the seats. The House of Blues is a really cool place and I would love to go there again, like if NKOTB ever does a reunion tour or something. Phil Wickham was one of the opening acts. I'd never heard of him before, but Curt and I thought he was great. We already bought his songs on iTunes. "True Love" is my favorite so far.
Immediately after the concert, Curt drove me out to Waxahachie (say that word - it will make you happy) and dropped me off at our church's ladies retreat. I am going to write more about the retreat later. But it was great!
Sunday:
Hubs got a new iPhone this weekend (after Jackson slobbered so much on his other phone that it died). He always uses his phone alarm to wake himself up in the mornings. So on Sunday at 6:30 a.m., I awoke to the horrible sound of an emergency broadcast system alarm. Take a second to imagine it. Got it? Good. I jumped out of bed - heart racing - and ran to the window. I expected to see everything in flames, or military tanks rolling down the street. Nothing. It was the dumb iPhone alarm. Curtis was in big trouble. Oh, yes ma'am.
Monday:
I met with one of the trainers at the gym to do a fitness evaluation. I hadn't had one in three years and I was very curious to know how my stats compared to pre-baby me. Well, they didn't have a record of my old measurements and all that. I was pretty bummed, but maybe the Lord didn't want me to know. My gym no longer has any women trainers and I had to be evaluated by a guy. Yuck. I was so dreading having my fat pinched by a man. That's just wrong. But, thank You Jesus for the miracles of technology, I just had to hold this weird device out in front of my body and it calculated my body fat right away. So bizarre! I weigh a few pounds more than I want to, but my percentage was in the "good" range. Hopefully I can adjust my workout schedule like I wanted to and mentally let go of all this.
Tuesday:
I realized I'd had a toothache off and on for three days, so I went to the dentist. It is so embarrassing to admit how long it's been since I've seen a dentist. Suffice it to say, the last time was in Houston. Yikes. (Today is Curt's three year anniversary at our church.) They couldn't find any cavities or any reason why I should be having any pain, so I'm thinking the Lord healed a cavity. The Joneses, who do not have dental insurance, are giving Him some praise! I escaped without being drilled on, but I did not escape the horrible periodontal prodding. Oh my word. This woman poked a sharp instrument into my gums, over every tooth - puncturing them like a big fat needle - for ten minutes. It was extremely unpleasant. My gums hurt so bad right now and my teeth feel like they're going to fall out. I'm sure I will dream about that tonight. I have recurring dreams about two things - tornadoes and my teeth falling out. Maybe tonight I will manage to combine them! Perhaps I will dream that my teeth fall out simultaneously and form a dental cyclone that wipes out the neighborhood. Now that would certainly be worthy of the Emergency Broadcast System/iPhone alarm.

i guess it doesn't really help to love pilates if you are MORE in love with bread and lattes. needless to say i will not be having my body fat measured for a while :)
and i'm about as good as you with going to the dentist..
I can not stand going to the dentist. Weeping and gnashing of teeth for sure. I don't even want to think about it! :) I am like give me the happy gas or just knock me out. I hear that they will put you under now for work...I may have to go that route. not sure if that is true but I think so.
DCB really? I'm so jealous (is that okay). They aren't coming to St. Louis, but will be in Chicago at The House of Blues there. I really wanted to go, but it just doesn't work with my schedule/kids schedules. I absolutely LOVE "Remedy" their new CD. . . talking good stuff here and I even caught my teen-age daughter listening to it in the car when she thought I wasn't paying any attention!! Maybe I should tell her I don't like it so she CAN LIKE it and enjoy it. Oh my . . . to be 16 again!!
I LOVE reading all about your "super long post about nothing important!" Isn't it so nice to get away with women for the weekend! I went to Colorado this past weekend for a "Captivating" (John and Stasi Eldredge) conference! AMAZING! INCREDIBLE! Girls if you ever have a chance to go I am telling you...GO! Please click on my blog to read THE COOLEST thing God did! HE IS SO AWESOME!!!! I PRASIE HIM that He provides weekends for us as women to get away to JUST WORSHIP HIM and soak in His PRESENCE with other women ...to laugh, cry, hug... We need it! The world can pull on us so much! I am still on such a moutaintop...and of course don't want to come down! I can't wait to get to worship with you all in San Antonio! YEAH : )
I am so glad you didn't have to have your tooth drilled...OH just the noise sends me over the edge! Happy Anniversary Curt! God Bless you Sweet Jones Family! Emmy : )
I enjoy your blogs so much and have always felt a bond with you, even though we're strangers! Now I know what that bond is...recurring nightmares of teeth falling out!!! I've had such dreams for YEARS now! Very unpleasant dreams but at least I know there's someone out there who understands!
Blessings,
Longmeadow Mama (aka Kelli in Ohio)
Doesn't the gum prodding feel like they are trying to sew your teeth in? Yikes!
And the scraping?!? Did they do any scraping?!?
Of course, after a night of dental tornado dreams, maybe you'd like to change the topic.
I know what you mean about recurring dreams.
We used to live on the river and I had regular dreams about a big flood coming and our house falling down. The funny thing was that it usually fell over all in one piece.
Strange what gets caught in our brain.
And yes, I need to do the dentist thing too. :(
AMANDA!!!...I have the Teeth Falling Out dream too! I HATE it! Seriously it is SO disturbing, usually in the dream I am standing and talking to someone and all of a sudden I am just spitting out my teeth and catching them in my hands...sometimes it is enough to wake up in a cold sweat. Sometimes I wonder if there is a deeper meaning to recurring dreams...although, I don't really think I WANT to know!
Anyway, your post made me smile!
Amanda, I have the same dream about my teeth falling out or just crumbling. Someone told me a long time ago when you dream about teeth falling out, you feel like you have no control over situations. Think that is from one of those what do your dreams mean book. I also still dream I have forgotten my lock combination in high school, not attending a class or can't ever find a class, as of late not being able to set the clock on my computer correctly has been right up there on recurring dreams. And more often than not, I dream about being shot, but just as soon as the bullet is supposed to hit me, I become a person in the crowd watching the whole thing happen.
When I was in high school and played volleyball, when my alarm went off I always thought it was the buzzer sounded in games. After I was married but still played softball for different teams, Roy said if I yelled slide in my sleep, he jumped out of bed. He knew he was just about to be kicked.
Thanks for the long post about nothing important. It was all good!
I have a recurring nightmare that I am grinding my teeth and they all fall out... I am so glad to know I'm not the only one. Or were you just kidding? "Cause if you are I feel silly for sharing that nightmare!
Two things:
1. The Chandlers LOVE Phil Wickham...so good.
2. I have the same recurring dreams...tornadoes and my teeth falling out. There are only a few people that I know who have the dream about their teeth falling out. Crazy!
Glad to get an update :)
I have seen DCB and they are AWESOME!! Love thier music.
Glad that the dentist thing worked out- I need to go get an achy tooth looked at too, I avoid dentists at ALL COSTS!! Not a fan of poking and gnashing my teeth!
Can't wait to hear about the ladies retreat!!
and I am still laughing everytime I go to the gym and think about your previous post- now I am on the lookout for "on-the-loose-Bettys" gee thanks- not really something I wanted to be more AWARE of! :)
have a great Wednesday- love ya!
It could possibly be TMJ...which sometimes feel like a toothache or an earache. And yes, I'm speaking from experience. :) I love to chew gum & that's a major upset for TMJ.
I'm feeling ya on the falling-out- teeth dream. Do yours miraculously grow back? Somehow I always end up with more teeth coming in.
Freaky, but I also have the tornado dreams.
Where's Freud when you need him?
I think you're the only other person I've ever met who liked NKOTB's music! That made me smile.
Also - if your dental pain keeps up, try sensitive toothpaste. It could just be a tooth sensitivity or something. Let's hope - right?
Well... count me as the WEIRD one who enjoys going to the dentist. Poke me, prod me, do whatever, but I get to lay there for an hour without wiping a bottom, cleaning up spilled juice or breaking up a fight? Sign me up! Strangely, it's relaxing to me.
I'm looking forward to hearing more about the women's retreat!
It is so strange to know that I am not the only one that has recurring dreams about tornados AND my teeth falling out. Both of those are frightening!!! I hate that sensation I get while dreaming about my teeth coming out. Glad to know there are you out there that know what I'm talking about. Blah! :(
Loved hearing about it all - Congrats to Curt for 3 years at your church! :)
Love ya! Yoli
hahaha! The tooth cyclone! That's greatness.
Yesterday, in the office, we were talking about Curtis' 3 year anniversary. I was so shocked. I can't believe it's been 3 years. But I guess when you think about all the things that have happened it the 3 years it doesn't seem as short of a time. My life has been so blessed these last 3 years!
Yippee!! A post! I've missed you :). I love David Crowder Band (and it's your Mom who said something about them that got me interested in hearing them)! My kids got to see them at a Student Life retreat this past summer. They said DCB was just great!
I'm glad all went well at the dentist for you. I'd be dreading the whole body fat thing more than I'd dread the dentist, but that's just me (and I'm just not into finding out my body fat is higher than my age).
I look forward to hearing about your retreat and hearing about how the boys did without you for you a couple of days.
I sure hope Mr. Jones changed his alarm ringer - how AWFUL!!!!!!!
Yay for a clean checkup!!
Did you hear about the dream I had about your Mom a few months ago? Well, I dreamt that Chris and I were going over to your parents home after she got off work. She answered the door with a big smile and welcome and um she had no front teeth. It didn't change anything about the visit, though. Then your Mom said she liked to take her teeth out when she got home from work to be more comfortable. So we had a wonderful visit and didn't think about her teeth again. Isn't that a hoot?
I know, I'm crazy...
So very proud of your weight evaluation!! Way to be! or is that weigh to be?
Love,
holly
like if NKOTB ever does a reunion tour or something...
if they come back we are going together...~! Did you get my e-mail a couple of weeks ago? I have been watching for you at bible study. I so wish you were there.
I too have a recurring dream about my teeth falling out! That's so weird!
Oh, another teeth-falling-out dreamer here!
I enjoy your blog- not sure if I have ever left a comment before or not!
From a fellow collegiate minister's wife: I went 7 years w/o going to the dentist (yikes) and God & dental floss protected me--cavity free! And I dream about my teeth falling out too. Weird.
I'll be going to my first DCB concert soon and I can't wait! I think he's a little bit of a genius. Equally excited about Phil Wickham, whose music knocks me out. Good to know I've got a lot to look forward to :) Thanks!
Hi! I found your blog randomly through another, but not the LPM blog (which I also love!) - just wanted to say hello to another Texan :)
Waxahachie is SUCH a fun word. It always makes me think of driving from Dallas (my parents' home, and my hometown!) to Waco for school, and the nice, long trip. Also, I can't believe I never saw DCB when they were the home band at University Baptist in Waco while I was at Baylor! Now I LOVE them and would love to get to see them every Sunday!
One last thing - there have been so many mornings where I've almost thrown my man's iPhone across the room, precisely for this reason! Normally, four alarms can't wake me up, but that one?! Makes me jump outta my skin!
Well, since I am a dental hygienist, I had to write! FLOSS, FLOSS, and FLOSS some more...atleast once a day. It is the BEST thing to keep your gums and teeth healthy. Flossing is always uncomfortable at first but they get stronger and the discomfort goes away shortly. I promise! :) It's just like the gym. When you first go workout you get sore and then with each regular workout your muscles get stonger and the discomfort goes away. OK enough preaching! I don't know what it is but my patients would often tell me about the bad dreams of their teeth falling out....that sounds horrible. I hope you don't have that dream!
My sister used to have dreams about losing her teeth. Someone told her it meant that she stressed about money too much. Interesting, I know, and I still don't get the correlation.
Hey Amanda...
I have never dreamed about tornadoes and teeth falling out but I might tonight since I've read that everyone else has! :)
This was a good post and it was important stuff....happy anniversary to your man and his church. Very cool indeed.
Also, week 5 of the new "A Woman's Heart" was today at Bible study.
This was taped 4 days after that sweet Jackson was born. Your momma laid out on that stage and wanted to cry. The picture of him as that newborn was BEAUTIFUL! Some things never change.
We do pray for all you Moore's/Jones' and love you all to pieces. You encourage us along the way and have blessed us beyond words.
Have a great day!
Blessings~
I do not like the dentist either. I nearly have and anxiety attack just thinking about going. Oh and when the cleaning drill starts - yikes!!
Ok so obviously we are not alone on the teeth falling out dream b/c it seems that we all have it. Now I dream that my kids teeth are falling out too - what does all of that mean?!!
I would love to see DCB!! They are so good :)
Oh and the iphone that sounds so funny! Of course not really funny in the morning when you think it is the EBS - LOL!!
I look forward to hearing about your women's retreat.
Much love,
Kim
No more women trainers? I don't even know what to say...
How was the retreat? Glad to hear that things are good in mouth land. I really need to go to the dentist as well....it has been pre preggo for me!
Praise God for retreats! I was able to go to Nancy Leigh DeMoss in Denton a couple of weekends ago with my hubby's mom, grandmother and aunt, and it was fabulous!
Can't relate to you on the dentist, though...it's a huge treat for me to go! Doesn't hurt that mine looks like Sean Connery and wears Safari for Men cologne, which is my absolute favorite!
we saw david crowder in denver last year and loved it! what a great concert! We're trying to figure out if we can swing going to his show here in two weeks.
Phil Wickham is just simply divine. If you don't have "Diving Romance" you should get it. That's my favorite!
So sad I missed the concert in Housotn last Saturday. But, whats a girl to do when she already had plans!!
And the dentist?! Oh bless. Last time I was there they made me throw up. Literally. I too am embarrased at the length of time it's been! :)
I don't think I have been to the dentist since before Tobey was born. I need to do that. I told Rodney about Curt's iPhone alarm and he had a good laugh. I am sure it was not so funny at 6:30am. I didn't realize this week was your 3 year anniversary at the church. It has gone by so fast. Our church has been so blessed by the Joneses!!!!
Ugh, don't talk to me about going to the dentist. I keep putting it off....
Also, that must have been the most annoying and alarming (pardon the bad pun) cell phone alarm! I hope he has changed it!
When you think about it, the dentist is wonderful compared to the gynocolgist. The dentist doesn't make you sit in a cold room in a paper dress that really doesnt cover everything that should be covered - there are no stirrups. You get to lay down and listen to soft music without having to take care of anyone for a short while, heck, come to think of it, the dentist is kind of like going for a massage (only you don't get the massage). See, it's all a matter of perspective.
Hey girl-- when did you get into working out. Am I crazy or did the Amanda I used to know avoid the student rec center all 4 years of college? Also, on a dental note one of my molars has hurting on and off for like a week here and there for the past year or two and I finally realized that it only hurts when I have an ulcer in this other place in my mouth--they must share a nerve. Maybe you could have the same problem!
Yay for Waxahachie! One of my good friends is from there and talks about it all the time! She will be thrilled to know you mentioned it in your post (and went there!) :)
BTW - love the blog! I came over through BooMama a couple of months ago and have really enjoyed your posts! Haven't commented before but I was super excited about the Waxahachie shout out and couldn't resist!
Sounds like a fun week except for the toothache!
I dream about tornados too!
Have a great weekend,
Sue
I have been lurking for awhile but need to comment on the tooth pain. I went to my dentist convinced I needed a root canal my tooth hurt so bad. Come to find out I had a severe sinus infection. You might check that out. I love your blog especially the pic's of your adorable baby!
Heather

HAPPY EARLY BIRTHDAY! I saw it on my facebook! Your life is such a blessing to so many!! love jenny
Hey Amanda,
I tagged you to do a meme (what does that mean exactly anyway?). I don't know how you feel about "memes" but I don't have a ton of blogging friends yet so you're the lucky girl who got tagged! :)
