Curtis came home a tad bit early from work. Jackson, having taken an extraordinarily long time to fall asleep at naptime, was still asleep. I got to have a few minutes with my man before Mister woke up. Curtis made us some nachos to share.
We both snoozed on the couch in the early evening while Jackson played.
Curtis sacrificially let us have dinner at Pei Wei. (He doesn't like Chinese and since my parents decided to hate Pei Wei because every dish tastes the same, I have been missing it!) Jackson ate like a champ - couldn't get enough ginger chicken with broccoli. That meant we had a very pleasant, easy dinner.
There was a Cinnabon/Carvel store in the same shopping center. I convinced Curt that we should go see what it was like. He and I ended up sharing a cinnamon roll. I cut it down the middle to be sure it was fair. His half ended up being a little bigger but I got most of the center piece. I think that was fair. Jackson, who has yet to be given one of the "ice cream treats" (Dibs) I've promised him if he poops on the potty, got to have a little cup of ice cream. He loved, loved, loved it. It's a sweet thing to see your kid enjoy something so much. Makes you want to give them the world.
As soon as we got home, Jackson happily asked to go to bed.
Perfect night. Great day ahead.
Awesome!!
ReplyDeleteThere is just something about Friday nights...
They are suppose to be fun.
Awwwwww.....sounds like a perfect night to me!!! Have a good labor day weekend!
ReplyDeleteYour Friday night sounded better:)...Yeah, little things tend to make me happy too:) I wonder if God likes to watch us enjoy what He has already blessed us with, and what He blesses us with daily? Probably:) He's a kind, loving Abba, Father.:)

Next time you want to go to Pei Wei, you just let me know. I'll be there in a heartbeat, sister. (My family doesn't like it either...I don't understand!)
ReplyDeleteOh and girl, let's not EVEN talk about Cinnabon next door. I just got back from Jazzersize and that's the LAST thing I need. Oh, but the taste...
Sounds like a nice, normal, simple Friday night to me!
ReplyDeleteMmmmm...I am SO glad you had that kind of day. I hope you have many more this week.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Holly
The middle of the cinnamon roll is the best part anyway. So yes, it was absolutely fair! Did you get an extra icing cup? I have to have an extra icing cup because if I'm going to blow it, I'm going to blow it BIGTIME!!
ReplyDeleteI love the days that the kids are so cooperative. I don't know why they have to be so few and far between! I'm glad that you had a sweet time together. :)
Isn't it always amazing when they actually ASK to go to bed?
ReplyDeleteI was an intern at my church during my senior year of college and the Preschool minister I was working with was pregnant and we went to Pei Wei every Wednesday for an entire semester. I'm not joking. We didn't miss a single week from January until May! I love that place and there isn't one where I live now, so next time you go eat some for me!
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading your blog!!
I know how to use the potty. Can I get some Dibs?
ReplyDelete(Wait. Heading to freezer now. ... AH! Yes. I have my own!)
Girl~ I love Cinnabon!! My husband would suprise me with them all the time during both pregnancy's!! I would wake up and one was in the microwave waiting for me!! He knew how much I craved them while I was pregnant. I even have a funny story about them...I raced one night to get there before they closed, mind you running through the mall as fast as a 9 month pregant woman can, just so I could satisfy my craving. I have not had one in a very long time but it brings back a warm feeling in my mind.I hope yall enjoyed, oh and I can eat a whole one when pregnant, maybe not now, but maybe?
ReplyDeleteLove that! Amen to everything.
ReplyDeleteOh, I love Pei Wei! I am craving it now but I am making hot wings tonight to go along with the football game tonight. :))
ReplyDeleteHave a fun weekend!
What kind of Stepford life are you living? You're telling me that your 2 1/2 year old ASKED to go to bed? The only time that happens in this house is when 103 fever follows. A nap, nachos, chinese food, an easy dinner out with a kid, a cinnamon roll, THE CENTER OF THE CINNAMON ROLL, and a kid who asks to go to bed. Wow. You're living right, my friend.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE Pei Wei! Wish I had one where we lived! The ginger chicken with broccoli is my favorite too- Jackson! Wish I had some right now!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had an awesome day... you deserved it!
I had enchiladas tonight - been craving them since last weekend- but these did not compare to the ones I had in San Antonio. What a let down...
ReplyDeleteNice. What a lovely evening! I love Pei Wei! I cannot believe your parents don't like it!
ReplyDeleteBy the way, my friend Jana got to have dinner with your parents at their new house. She had fun visiting with her!
I would pass out if my child asked to go to sleep. she is in my face right now saying uh uh go to bed...I want a cheese burger mommy...where does she come up with this?
ReplyDeleteWHAT? Say it ain't so! Mama Beth doesn't like Pei Wei!
ReplyDeleteI'm inspired! If I had a Pillsbury cinnamon roll in my fridge I would SO be baking it right now!
Friday's like that are what I hope for all week long:)
Hope you have a good Sunday too!
Sounds like a great Friday night! And to top it off Jackson was ready for bed! And a cinnamon roll...
ReplyDeleteHope you had a great Saturday too!
Enjoy your weekend!
Pei Wei is the best...We almost ate their tonight, but opted for Joe's Crab Shack, so the kids could run off some energy. We did have IKEAn cinnamon rolls at lunch though, yum!!
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Chinese food will be perfect for lunch!
ReplyDeleteSounds like a great day was had by all of you ;-).
Hope the rest of your weekend was just as good!
ReplyDeleteYou know I adore your mom, but seriously. Who doesn't LOVE Pei Wei?! We had it Thursday, and I'd reeeeally been craving it. It doesn't all taste the same!! And even if it did, it's some yummy, scrummy same!
ReplyDeleteI'm salivating.
