VICTORY!

It happened this evening in the backyard while Jackson was playing t-ball. The Diego and Baby Jaguar potty made it to the rescue.

Jackson finally got to have a handful of "ice cream treats," AKA Dibs. They're chocolate covered bites of vanilla ice cream. He LOVED them.

Daddy was proud. Mommy was proud. Jackson was proud. Yeah, Mister! Praise the Lord!

*Other facts about our day:
-Our breakfast toast was on super fresh bread. Yum.
-I got my license updated with my new address...five months later.
-I had blood drawn by the strangest man I've ever met. I may be writing a letter.
-Jackson got to talk to Ella on the phone. Ava, you're next!
-I got to visit with the LPM girls during their lunch hour.
-Jacks and I narrowly escaped being run over in the MDO parking lot.
-This may be TMI, but I was having trouble breathing this morning and I finally realized that I may have outgrown a certain piece of clothing that was compressing my rib cage. Dang, Gina.
-Curt got to feel the baby kick.
-Have I mentioned how much I hate politics? I'd rather wallpaper my house with pictures of Nicholas Cage, Clay Aiken, and Donald Trump with their terribly bizarre hair than listen to all the bull flying around about both parties for the next two months. Gross. Yes, I'm going to vote but this whole process is like fingernails screeching on a chalkboard to me.

I'll leave you with this silly picture of Beckham that we took last week. Jackson was cracking up about something and I looked over and saw this goober.

  1. Many congrats!

I'm sure glad you explained those were Dibs on the plate...just sayin'!

  2. He looks so proud and so adorable!

We're also working on potty training and I had no idea how much diligence and consistency it would require on my part. Two qualities which I lack.

Yes, I'm so sick of politics. I care, I vote, it's important. Of course. But I'm married to a news-hound who tapes and watches both conventions, in their entirety, on C-Span, and then wants to discuss with me. I'm so over it!

Congrats on your big potty milestone!

  3. Girl, I am so glad you elaborated on what that was on Jackson's platter.

  5. Woo Hoo for Jackson!!! And big yea for his Mommy too. What a wonderful day. One I'm sure you'll record in his baby (big boy?) book for years to come.

Oh and I love the picture of Beckham--just too cute for words.

    Much love,

I know how exciting those victories are! Yay!
Jackson is looking SO big now! It seems like just over the summer!
I don't like this election stuff either. I had to laugh at your comment about you'd rather wallpaper your walls with pictures of people with bizarre hair!

  8. Yeah Jackson! What a huge milestone!

Ok, so I'm trying not to worry but we are about the same in our pregnancies and your husband already felt the baby kick?!? I think I've only felt it a few times and this is my 3rd?!?

  9. Whoop! Whoop! Way to go Jackson!

    Congratulations to everyone!

  10. 1. I didn't not need to hear about blood being drawn from a crazy man - does NOT help my situation!

    2. I am with you on the politics - let's vote and be done with it already!

    3. YEAH for Jackson. Did you get some Dibs too?

  11. Woo-Hoo! That was a quick potty training.... It took forever to get our son to have success with #2. The doggy picture is too cute!!!

My son TImmy (3 yrs) and I were just looking at your blog for the first time. He loved the picture of Jackson's potty and t-ball stand. He totally wants to come over to your house and play (We live in Pensacola, FL). This whole pottying thing is a big deal at our house too. Timmy has the pooping down, but getting him to the potty in time to pee before he has an accident is major work. He just loves to keep doing whatever fun thing he is doing and he won't say a word until he is running to the potty screaming, "I have to go potty." By then it's just too late. Yesterday we went through about 5 pairs of shorts and underwear. Funny thing is he hardly ever has an accident at school. Well, good luck on the continuing success.

  18. Dogs...aren't they wonderful! And I loved your little notes of all the things you did and your great dislike of politics. Yep know the feeling. And the strange man who took blood? Did he look like a vampire? I've seen some strange one's my self when I had to do this and wondered...:)

  22. Yippee!! Awesome job Jacks!!! Such a big boy! Miss you :(

    ReplyDelete
  23. WAHOOOOOOO!!

You have turned the corner, girlfriend. Hope you grabbed a handful of those Dibs, too.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Congratulations Jackson! One small step for the boy, one giant leap... well you get the idea.

I just have to say, considering the topic of your post, the contents of his plate looks a little questionable.

    ReplyDelete
  25. I saw the title and then saw the picture of Jackson holding a plate of some little dark things and I was a little concerned...........ha!!!!!!
I laughed at what you said because my parents when they were potty training me ALWAYS said "mommy happy, daddy happy, Kelly happy" and then we would all clap our hands. And it became a joke that they said on into my adult life!:-)
    YeaY for Jackson!
    P.S. I hate politics too!

  26. CONGRATS!!!!! those pictures of Jacks are absolutely precious!!!!

  29. That picture of your dog is funny. We have a golden retriever puppy (14 wks) and she loves to lay under the curtains on the AC vent. Such a rough life-ha!

  30. A red letter day, indeed! My grand daughter was recently potty trained..well, mostly, anyway!

  31. I hear ya on the political front. I Facebook messaged a girlfriend with a love for C-SPAN, etc. and whose brother works in DC for her "take" and she said she boils it still down to her values and not her emotions.
Other than that, success "smells" sweet!

    ReplyDelete
  32. Way to go Jackson!!! What a beautiful smile and he looks very proud of himself and he should be!!

Politics, I have been over this whole campaign for months. How refreshing it would be if the bashing would stop.

I love the picture of Beckham. What a cutie!!

    ReplyDelete
  33. Oh Amanda, too funny, when I saw the picture of Jackson's treats I thought he was showing off his proud achievements!!

    ReplyDelete
  34. That is the cutest smile ever... success is so sweet!

I also love the strategically placed bowl.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Rejoicing!!!

And that Beckham's a funny fellow.

And, I love politics--it's in my blood. My Chris and I watch the whole thing like a good sport (where your team wins! Come on now, Aggies!) I hope you still love me.

Amanda, you made me think of Paul with all this politicking goin' on...he had to keep travelling and revisiting places, sending letters, sending representatives,arguing..etc....to keep the True facts of the matter before the people who were so easily mis-led by false prophets or backslid to their old ways/beliefs...but enough about that....Beckham seemed to be saying:"Hey, LOOK AT ME!!! I am not getting any respect around here what with all the chocolate dibs and fig talk!!!! LOOK AT ME!!! Thanks for sharing the pictures and stories of your day/life and i'm especially tickled to hear how fresh your breadtoast was...i remember as if it was yesterday your stale toast day at the beginning of this blog!!! Give Beckham a treat for me! p.s i also got my license "updated" with the right address....but 11 years later and had to change the State's address...does that make us twins?

  39. Way to go Jackson. I saw the pic of Jackson proudly displaying something in a bowl--so glad I read the rest of the text :) I was beginning to wonder if the Hormone Monster had taken over...

  40. I am so glad - for a sec there I thought you had pulled a "Jon & Kate Plus 8" ... so very relieved that that was icecream in the green dish.

Potty training is a CHORE - keep up the good work!! You too Jackson!

    And, yes, politics - BLAH!!!

We are all about the B.M.'s!!! Just ask my room in San Antonio!! LOL

  43. Yay! Dibs are a great motivator, way better than the skittles we offered:-)

I'm with you on the election process- yuck! Love to vote, hate the process up to it. (Although I could listen to Laura Bush and her sweet Texas accent all day- love it!)

The picture of Beckham is just too funny. That would be posted on the fridge for sure... guarantees a laugh no matter how wild the hours between 4 and 6 are with a toddler and mommy trying to make dinner!

    ReplyDelete
  44. YAY!!! Go Jackson!

Did we ever think we were going to be so proud of some poop? I know I didn't, but I sure was VERY proud when it happened for us!

    ReplyDelete
  45. YAY!!!!!!! That is the best time. All your doubts are put away and you see he really can and will do it! So glad for this victory..I know those dibs were the BEST!

  50. HOORAY Jackson!! :)

I am NOT a big fan of all the mean politics that are being thrown around... why can't we all just get along!

    ReplyDelete
  51. Congrats... Hope the trend continues :) The dog picture is adorable...

    Blessings Amanda!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Yay for mom, dad, AND Jackson! That picture of him with his little bowl of ice cream treats is the most precious thing. :)

    ReplyDelete
  53. How great! YAY Jackson!!! That potty-training business is tough! Good for you for sticking it out. My Caleb, who's almost 3, was basically potty-trained because of MDO. He saw all the other kids going and wanted to, also. It was easy-peasy with him, so I suspect I'll have a harder time with my next one, who's only one now!

    ReplyDelete
  54. Love that huge smile! Congrats to all of you on the BIG team effort!

    Love that photo of Beckham!

(Glad I am not the only one that thought the Dibs were not Dibs upon first glance. Hee, hee!)

    ReplyDelete
  55. Way to go Jackson. Yippee!!

Girl, I will definately need to get the tips on potty training here from you soon. My 19month old is right around the corner from potty training! Ugh! I can't believe how close it already is. It goes by WAY too fast!

    ReplyDelete
  56. Maybe that's the key to getting my little one to go on the potty. Offer her DibTurds. :)

  57. Re: politics - I couldn't agree more. My sweet hubby loves it, though, and he would be terrified by the hair weirdness x3!

Good for Jackson! And even better for you!

    ReplyDelete
  58. Yay for Jackson!! I love that big smile. He's mighty proud as well, huh?

    ReplyDelete
  59. Yay!!! Lol, and I gotta agree... thanks for s'plainin the dibs. :)

  63. Okay, I was kind of reading fast and skimming ahead to the pictures and for a short short second I was pretty sure you were showing us a picture of Jackson and his poops on the plate:)

Congrats! I remember having about a 6 month break from diapers between kids. It was heavenly!

    ReplyDelete
  64. After seeing that picture of Beckham, I really miss him! He's adorable.

And way to go, Jackson!!! Ava wants some of your dibs!

  65. Now THAT should have made the front page of the newspaper! Some GOOD news!
    Yay, Buddy!

    ReplyDelete
  66. Way to go Jackson!!! He looks so proud of himself in that picture and I also had to do a double take of what he was displaying in his bowl!

    ReplyDelete
  67. HA HA HA @ everyone being glad at the platter explanation, because I had the exact same thought!

CONGRATULATIONS JACKSON!!! It's a proud day for us bloggy aunties tooo!

I'm loving all the picturs and I'm cracking up at Beckham. (I say goob alot too!)

(Did you tell your sister about the snug undergarment? I'm thinking of her comment about you and the other preggers woman...I'm just saying...)

What a great day for you, even considering you had the strange man draw the blood and the near miss in the MDO parking lot.

    ReplyDelete
  68. whoa - i was not sure what was on that plate.......hee hee

i am with you on the politics... I too will vote, but fully aware that my God is sovereign and will have His way...

  70. seriously? that second picture? should be displayed somewhere prominently for him to see.

    way to go, mama!

and how fun that 50+ people are celebrating with your little man's pooping victory.

    ReplyDelete
  71. There's nothing like the feeling of VICTORY! Especially in the sense that you're talking about! Maybe Jackson could teach my middle daughter that it's NOT SCARY!!! We can't get that through her head. Oh, sweet mercy, if I can ever get my kids out of diapers.....
I was a little glad to find out that Jackson had ice cream on his plate. I mean, the victory was so sweet that I wouldn't blame you for taking a picture of it. Because I never did that with my oldest daughter so I wouldn't have any idea what that would be like.....

    ReplyDelete
  72. Yes, your analogy for the current politics is quite appropriate. Amen, sista!

    ReplyDelete
  73. Glory, glory, hallelujah!!! I know you're proud and wow, does Jackson look like one proud boy!!!

This election is really making me nervous...I just don't like it when our country changes hands..I keep telling myself there's really only ONE Man in charge...THE Man! And I am so thankful to know Him b/c otherwise, I'd seriously be really stressed about all of this "stuff"!

That precious "pup"! I love it!

Thanks for keeping us "posted"!! :)

  74. Yay! Good job Jackson. You haven given us mommies some hope for potty training. Amanda, he really does have a great smile!

  75. Way to go, Jackson!!!!

(And I love the picture of Beckham too- What a life!)

    ReplyDelete
  76. Jackson is the MAN!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  77. So I take it you did not see Sarah Palin's speech last night? I admit, it was the first presidential speech I have ever watched/listened to in my life, but it was FABULOUS! She is making me excited about this election; and I'm normally feeling the same way as you!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Great Job. Jackson!

I hate when that whole can't breath realization happens. MY TMI is that I went into a store that does "fittings" and when she told me the size I should "start" with I almost dropped my teeth.

Shall we say it was triple but not quite an E!

I do not have a burgeoning baby to excuse my busty girth.

Okay. So I am oversharing - so sorry!

    Blessings.

  80. Yea Jackson!!!! That's awesome. I see the light at the end of this tunnel!!!

I hear you on the politics. Was I the only one who didn't watch last night?! Possibly...I heard all I needed to on the radio this morning and on Inside Edition this afternoon!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Don't you love the Internet? Jackson got 81 comments congratulating him (and you) on successful poo-poo.

Bet he didn't get that many Dibs.

    ReplyDelete
  82. Congratulations to you and Jackson! Okay, and Beckham is seriously witty.

    ReplyDelete
  83. Yay Jackson! You have to tell me where you got the Diego potty. Logan is having issues with sitting on the potty. He is a clean freak and it's dirty. (It was a hand me down from big brother.) He needs a new clean Diego potty.

  84. Hello, I was blog surfing and came upon your awesome posts. I am loving the picture of your dog! I just had to leave a comment, because I have a golden retriever who does the wildest things! I always have to keep my camera ready just in case he decides to "pull a funny."
