She's still a girl! Yeah! I would have been so great with having another son, but I'm not sure how I would have done after thinking I was having a girl for two or more months. That might have been a little rough! However, I have been really sentimental about Baby Jackson and lately I've just longed to spend a few minutes with him as a tiny little baby again. Last week I was looking at pictures of a friend's newborn twin boys and got a little emotional about it.
Anyway, the 3D ultrasound was great. The first thing the technician did was verify that she was indeed a girl. There was no doubt whatsoever. PTL. After that, the first clear view we got of Baby Girl's face looked exactly like Jackson did when we had his 3D ultrasound. That was my favorite moment. What a sweet thing to already know that they will at least resemble one another! When Jackson was a baby, people told me all the time that he was too pretty to be a boy. So Baby Girl shouldn't mind looking like her big bro!
Baby's hands were in front of her face (in her mouth, actually) most of the time, so we didn't get too many clear shots of her. Most of them are pretty bizarre looking. (If you've ever seen a 3D ultrasound pic before, you know they can look pretty distorted.) Of course, a mom and grandma can overlook the sonogram distortion, but I will refrain from posting those pictures online. I promise you will get so many pictures of this baby after she's born that you will be begging for mercy!
It was so thrilling to see her little face though. I hope the next 12 weeks pass quickly! I don't know if I can stand it! I should probably call Kay and let her tell me how tired she is with her 6-day-old. That might inspire some patience.
Here are some additional thoughts I'm having that do not fit in this post:
-It was 75 degrees today and I had to turn the AC back on. Pregnant Girl needs some crisp air, y'all! Curt tells me to open the windows but I do not want to let in all the allergens that live in my backyard. It's not so bad when you have to turn on the AC in November, but next month I will not be smiling! (Just found out we're getting a cool front tomorrow. Back to the 50's!)
-I finally got to have a slice of cake at that restaurant I was telling y'all about recently. Holy cow. It was better than it looked.
-Jackson is no longer calling himself Tachi. In fact, he says his full name sometimes! Of course, now I miss Tachi.
-Curtis and I both have next Monday through Friday off work. And we aren't going anywhere. I'm not sure we'll even know what to do with ourselves. We need to buy Jackson some new furniture, that's for sure!
-I got out my Snoogle pillow a month ago but at that point it didn't really help me sleep any better. This week I tried again and it has been bliss.
Finally, here are some pics from today.
The belly (and the B's of Doom) at 28 weeks. I think I've gained most of my weight in my FACE! Bleh! I'm trying to take my thoughts captive about this, y'all. It's not forever. It's not forever. It's not forever.
This special moment was brought to you by Bibby and her Visa.
After the ultrasound, we went to Starbucks and enjoyed looking at our pictures and talking about the baby over hot drinks. So fun! Then we joined the LPM girls (and Curtis) for lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. What a great day! Thank you so much, Mom! We've made so many fun memories over these babies, haven't we?
I hear you on being emotional about Jackson. I just had my third child ... a girl after two boys. I honestly didn't think I would bond with her. I was soooooo nervous even going into labor. I just couldn't see how in the world I would bond with her like I had my boys. I was soooo emotional about my youngest boy and held on to him the night before we went to the hospital. It was as if he was dying to me ... not literally but my emotions were all over the place. All I knew was BOY and I loved it. Most of my friends all had boys and I didn't know what I would do with a girl ... enter thrid child ... a precious little girl that I couldnt be more in love with. Still don't know what to do with her sometimes :) but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Anyway, I say all this to say I've been there and am now on the other side.
ReplyDeleteBy the way ... baby girl is having some medical issues and has been for the past month and a half. We would appreciate your prayers if you don't mind. We are taking her to another specalist for a third opinion and hoping that we can finally get some answers.
yay! glad all things pink were confirmed!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great day and that is so awesome that both you and Curtis have next week off! It will be a mini STAYcation!
ReplyDeleteYay! I was thinking about you all day. I'm so glad that you had such a great time and you're still thinking pink!
ReplyDeleteAnd those B's of doom, girl. I've got my own set of problems.
Bibby and her Visa...that just about cracked me up!!! My mommy would always spring for special things that we could never spend money on!!! Grandparents Rock. :)
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful Thanksgiving week!
Blessings,
stephanie
So exciting Amanda - and I'm so glad it's still a girl! I wanted you to have some pink! And you are right - if she is half as pretty as Jackson is - she is going to be Miss Texas!
ReplyDeleteYou look AMAZING! Seriously - you are tiny. How are you so little? And your face looks beautiful - not big!
Such a special day!!!
Yay, now you can have her name pasted or sewn on whatever you'd like!
ReplyDeleteI cannot wait to welcome little baby girl Jones into the world!
Praying for your week off--enjoy nesting and thankful Thanksgiving day!
PTL for Bibbies and their Visas, right?! :0)
ReplyDeleteSweet Tomatoes! we just got one here near us, but we've never been. i keep getting coupons in the mail, so i need to try it!
My son, Caleb, called himself "Caybub" when he was about Jackson's age. He's now 21 and that is my nickname for him. Sometimes I even call him "Caybubby." He doesn't mind at all. :) So save Tachi for 20 years from now! :)
ReplyDeleteOk...I somehow managed to get teary and weepy and cry baby over this post Amanda!!!! Why?? I don't know.
ReplyDeleteI'm so happy for you all. And, I think you look fabulous and what a sweet time for you and your momma.
Hugs and Blessings~
Fran
Congrats on still having a girl!!
ReplyDeleteA few comments...
ReplyDeletePeek-a-Baby looks like a fun place to get an ultrasound!
You are radiant!!!
I can relate to your need to be with newborn Jackson...I would LOVE just 10 minutes with my little guy when he was a newborn and he's only 9 1/2 months old! I try so hard to savor every moment with him because there are no guarantees of more babies in our future.
amanda~ you look so great! what a fun time for you! i will be praying for some very sweet memories for you and jackson over the next couple of months!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting! So glad that baby girl is still a baby girl!
ReplyDeleteAnd that place just looks too cute! I think that it is so awesome that you and your mom are getting to share these special times together...what a beautiful pair you are!
*Never put your purse on the ground....yucky stuff there will end up on the bottom of your bag and then on you girl!
Thankfully I was pregnant with my daughter when my son decided he no longer wanted to be rocked to sleep. Man was I glad I had another one on the way. When baby girl decided she didn't want to be rocked to sleep, I was so tired that I was thankful I didn't have another one on the way. Man it's amazing how God works the details out!!
ReplyDeleteBless your babies this night :-)
It's so much fun following your pregnancy on your blog....it's almost like being part of the family. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteYou look so stinkin' cute pregnant! I can't believe you are 28 weeks--you are so super tiny! (I'm 9 weeks with baby #2 and I seriously think I'm already showing... Doesn't bode well for this pregnancy.)
ReplyDeleteBaby girls are the greatest! You are going to have the best time with her--congratulations! :)
Savor these last few weeks alone with your firstborn. Once Baby Girl comes there's no going back! If you need a reminder of sleepless nights I was up last night at 10 pm, 12 midnight, 3:30 AM, 6:00 AM, 8:00 AM. Baby Boy is a month old and with 3 older siblings to care for naps aren't allowed for me throughout the day like they were when Boy #1 was a baby!
ReplyDeleteI totally understand those emotions. I have a son and then a daughter as well and when I was pregnant with our daughter, i was so emotional at times about our son growing and never being a baby boy again. I was so excited to have a girl, but I so loved by boy, too and just went through weird sentimental moments of missing him as a baby.
ReplyDeleteAbout you're looks, you're gorgeous!
Is it strange and annoying sometimes to get so many comments from so many people you don't really know? You don't actually have to answer that. :)
Looking at your pictures confirms two things: 1) y'all are just darlin' and 2) good hair is Baby Girl's heritage. Oh yes ma'am it is.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy that you are having a girl! I look forward to seeing as many pictures of her as you share with us!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures of you and Bibby. Both of you are beauitful! Bibby's hair is so pretty. I love the color. :)
Have a wonderful week off and Happy Thanksgiving.
Love,
Patty
What a fun day! I am beyond excited for you, and can't believe you only have 12 weeks left. Crazy!!!
ReplyDeleteYou look fabulous! You look tiny if you ask me. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and feel like I look bigger than that. So glad to hear you guys had a fun day. I understand about getting emotional over Jackson. Today, I went and picked up my 16 month old from his crib and held him why he napped. Yes, I realize he could have very well woken up, but it's not very often that he sleeps in my arms anymore and I miss that. Enjoy your week off and enjoying doing nothing and all the yummy food that comes with Thanksgiving!
ReplyDeleteThe whole thing is so sweet!! I love you girls! Tiff
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the confirmation it's a girl. I was so nervous that I packed a little boy outfit to go to the hospital - just incase. We didn't do the 3D ultrasound - I had heard horror stories but now kind of wished I had done it. Maybe next time!
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures... The place looks very elegant inside :) So sweet that you and your mom got to make some memories that will last forever :)
ReplyDeleteI must say, when you did your Aggie ring post last week and it was title "The Precious" I thought you'd come up with this gal's nickname. You know, Jackson is "The Mister" and she's "The Precious". But then I read the post and could hear that creepy thing from Lord of the Rings whispering "My precious..." and I'm not sure it's such a cute nickname anymore. :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, you don't look pregnant. You just look like you've had a big lunch. And your hair is doing some truly magnificent things, so be encouraged.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy for you Amanda! What a special Mother/Daughter day you had! I'm so glad that you all got to see your baby girl, and especially her face! And I can't wait to see some pictures of her once she's here! (I promise that there is no such thing as too many baby pictures!)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations again!
You are looking great! You and Bibby's day sounds just wonderful. I love those times with my mom more women need to experience that special bond. She is my mom, my Sister, my best friend, My mentor, and the best babysitter EVER!!
ReplyDeleteHave a great time relaxing this next weekend!
Sweet blessings over you all! Oh the wonder of modern day technology. Thank you, Lord! May you all have a blessed Thanksgiving.
ReplyDeleteSo fun! Congrats on baby girl once again! I had a boy first then a girl and it couldn't be a better combination--I still wrestle with my little man and my girl just sits and laughs at us--and she adores her brother, which makes him feel proud. They're still little but you can tell they think the other one is pretty cool!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you had a fun time. I got to have 3D and 4D with my first here in Wales b/c my doctor was trying out the machines to see which ones he liked, so I got to have them for free. That was a blessing. And you look great for being 28 weeks. I'm 4 days ahead of you and look massive, so I'm trying to take my thoughts captive too. Maybe it's because this is my 3rd and my stomach just popped out the minute I took a home test? Ya, I 'll just go with that.
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week!
Charity
You look great! We have been debating whether to do a 3-D.
ReplyDeletei think you look great! i'd love to know where you found that cute top - i really want some cute basics that are warm like that. i'm only 14 weeks, but it won't be long, i'm sure! i think Gap online might be my saving grace, because shopping for maternity clothes last weekend about did me in.
ReplyDeletecongratulations! :)
If it means anything coming from a complete stranger...you look absolutely beautiful. I know you're anxious for this "season" to pass, but know that most of us don't look that good at our best!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your special day with us.
Kelli
What a fun day to share with your momma! You look amazing by the way...super tiny! Glad you helped yourself to some of that cake; you've had me wanting a piece for awhile now...I'm not envious in the least, not at all. Have a wonderful week next week with your precious family; that time together sounds delightful!
ReplyDeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteI've been following your blog for a few weeks now. I love it! Congrats on your baby-girl-to-be. I just had one 12 weeks ago. They are so different than boys, so sweet and so cute, even as newborns! And they have cuter baby clothes :) Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and I'll stay tuned for more of your posts!
Lynn

What a DARLING post! My favorite part is "brought to you by Bibby and her Visa." Ha!
ReplyDeleteOh, and the B's of doom. I used to long for some of those... I think I'm over it.
Sweet Tomatoes is such a cute name for a restaurant.
Have a great weekend, Amanda!!
We'll be missin Tachi as well! Congrats on the confirmation!! Cant wait to see Baby Girl
ReplyDeleteYEAH SO FUN!!
ReplyDeleteI told my hubby - I have got to get me a girl - he looked at me like I had 2 heads - LOL
SO I am enjoying living this through you
BTW when I was pregnant I gained weight in my nose - no lie - it was the size of the grand canyon
And when I tell people they do not believe me then they see pics and say "ohh..."
Yeah it was bad
But you are right - it is not forever :)
and I think you look GREAT!!!
Blessings
Kim
You look great! I can't even believe you are only 28 weeks in that pic!
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing and your mom always makes me smile. I am so happy that you have such a wonderful relationship with her, it is a treasure and truly priceless. Enjoy your week with hubs, Jackson and baby girl.
ReplyDeleteGod bless your holiday.
Celeste
Honey, I love those two babies of yours like I love you and Melissa. It's almost too much for my heart to bear. This is one happy Bibby.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to so enjoy your baby girl! And Jackson will too!
ReplyDeleteShe'll be lucky to look like any of you! I just can't wait to see her sweet face!
Is that like a ultrasound boutique??? We don't have those is CS...I might have to travel in to Houston next time to try that out. Pretty cute!
ReplyDeleteYou are right... precious memories... treasure these times! Such a joy! Just thrilled for you all!
ReplyDeleteShe is going to be beautiful inside and out!
Cute sonogram place! : )
Mom and Bibby are looking mighty fine! Both of you look beautiful! I'm glad the ultrasound went well!
ReplyDeleteLooking forward to pictures of Baby Girl with those big blue eyes and long eyelashes.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun day! I love Sweet Tomatoes...most people don't, but my family frequents it often.
ReplyDeleteGirlfriend, just for the record, you are glowing. It truly doesn't look like you've gained any weight! Seriously!
Y'all enjoy your week off!
Lindsee
P.S. Yes, I think we got a major second wind after dinner! However, after the pictures...we CRASHED.
Girl, you look AMAZING! I'm serious, AMAZING. Don't let the enemy do a number on you.
ReplyDeleteGod loves you so much. He says to you,"...show me your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely." Song 2:14
Yeah, she is still a girl! :) What an exciting day. I love to check over on your blog and see what's going on.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, you are tiny!! My goodness you look great for being this far along! And your face doesn't look big at all. But I know how you feel, I look back at pictures of myself when I was pregnant and whew my face looked swollen!! :)
Little Momma, she's still a girl!!...Yes!! Pic of the face!:)... Aww, I wouldn't have minded a 3d pic to tell ya the truth:)..It was 39 degrees today in K-town, I think our cold front came before yours:)...Hey, do you keep a journal or book of Jackson's sayings and stuff? Couple of my friend's do that with their kiddles:)...yes, take those thoughts captive, cause if the face is all you have to think about, you got it good:)...Yay, Bibby and her visa:), lovin' the hair, Spiritual Mom Beth:)...sounds like a good time, lunch with your man and your girls:)
ReplyDeleteHave a blessed night Little Momma:)
katiegfromtennessee
What a fun day! I'm jealous you got to spend so much fun quality time with your mom. We live in Okinawa and my mom is in Virginia and I'm missing her a lot right now. Can't wait to see pictures of your sweet baby girl.
ReplyDeleteBibby and her Visa - you are so witty and I know you are grateful too! Us "Bibby's" have pure joy in blessing y'all. Actually, I am
ReplyDeleteGran Jan, a.k.a. Georgia Jan!
Baby girl is going to be beautiful.
I went with my son and his wife to the 3-D or 4-D sonogram - and we had the best time, and my grandboy is 3 months old - and he really does look like the little precious face we saw...
God is so awesome to let us enjoy this technology. I had NO clue that I was having boys...
You are a beautiful pregnant-girl!
Georgia Gran Jan
What a fun day! I saw a friends 3D picture today and was amazed at the detail. I didn't have it done with my two.
ReplyDeleteYou post all the pics of baby girl you want!
You look amazing! There isn't anything like, life growing inside you. You will miss it someday!!
ReplyDeletewonderful!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou are still so tiny! I looked like someone you could put a sign on that said "Wide Load"! Love ya!
ReplyDeleteAmanda, what a fun day for you! That's a good idea doing the 3D ultrasound before purchasing big things, like bedding.
ReplyDeleteI hope you guys have a wonderful Thankgiving!
Amanda, you are so tiny!
ReplyDeleteNow have you seen the picture of Kate Gosselin (Jon & Kate plus 8) when she was pregnant with 6?!?! I hurt all over every time I see that picture on their tv show! You should see my husband cover his FACE to keep from seeing that. It is so funny.
Did you pick out nursery stuff? You and your mom have the best taste. I can just picture the crib! But I don't think I'm seeing a vision of pink. Let us know when you can what's up in the nursery.
And that is so sweet that she looks like Jackson in the 3D shot. She will be a beauty with those blue eyes and eyelashes like Bambi!
Enjoy these days...
This time last year, when I was about 30 weeks pregnant, I commented to my best friend that I didn't like wearing so many maternity turtlenecks.
ReplyDelete"It makes my face look pudgy," I complained, looking in a mirror. "I think it's because I can't see my collar bones in a sweater, and those are the only bones I have left that show through my skin."
"You've lost your skinny place," she said confidently.
YES! That's it EXACTLY!
All that to say, I understand feeling like you've gained a baby in your facial cheeks. If it's any comfort, you look just adorable. And that sweet little girl will be here (and covered in pink) before you know it.
I just wanted to send a little encouragement your way. You look adorable! Praise Jesus for the precious life growing in your womb! I can't wait to see pictures!
ReplyDeleteYou my friend, are gorgeous! You and Bibi are going to have so much fun with this little girl! Love you! P.s. - I'm right here with you with the toddler tantrums girlfriend!
ReplyDeleteYou look positively wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI wish they would have had those 3D ultrasounds when I had my babies. It was so much fun just seeing the regular ultrasounds, but these 3D's are like looking right inside. How fun!
You are going to enjoy having a little girl so much. After my son, I wondered how I would ever love another child as much as I already loved him, but found out that there was plenty of room in my heart for more. I adore my daughters, who were born 15 months apart - and now I'm looking forward to the day when they have little ones of their own!
Amanda, you look so sweet pregnant! I surely didn't look that good @ 28 weeks with any of my babies.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see that little pumpkin!
Amanda,
ReplyDeleteI am so glad that you got to see your baby girl.
Isn't it just the coolest thing to see Psalm 139 in living color!
Blessings,
pat
You look amazing! How many more weeks do you have to go? I can tell you from experience that girls are so amazing. If they stayed teeny tiny, I would have a ton of them!
ReplyDeleteI hadn't visited your blog in awhile, or should I say "stalked your blog" in awhile but had to comment on the Mister calling himself a different name. My youngest son, Justin, use to call himself Derrick, reading your post brought back memories. Enjoy every single moment of toddlerhood and pregnancy- one day they'll be somewhat grown up and driving- oh wait that's me come Monday morning, sniff, sniff.
ReplyDelete
