Summer Preview

Coming to a pool near you! The latest desecration of our favorite bug and our favorite girls in size 12M through 6. Ironic that a ladybug would be used in this way.

Oh my. That is just wrong. At least there's a matching cover-up? While showing off my daughter's swimsuit for the summer someone actually told me it was "quite modest." To which I replied "Of course it is! It will be for a 1 year old!"

Jen said...

Oh my goodness! I can't believe that! I have a 19 month old daughter and boy oh boy have my eyes been opened since having her regarding this cultures fascination with growing up our girls WAY TOO FAST!!! Ick!!!

Kiki said...

So Annabeth won't be sporting that?!

And $39!

Megan said...

OH my. I dread when my baby girl is a teenager and we have to go shopping!

Wade's World said...

That's just wrong! Why not just use pasties with tassles?

Oh, that is soooooo sad. Little girls' swimsuits get me riled up every year! It's so hard to find anything cute and decent.

Building Dave said...

I had seen that in the catalog earlier. I was quite disappointed b/c usually I can find "good" stuff at CWD kids...

Mocha with Linda said...

Wow.

The cover-up is cute. I think I'd just keep it for a little dress or top.

That is absolutely pathetic.

Traci said...

And CWD has always had such cute clothes. Ick!!

Melanie said...

Beyond ridiculous. Why?????!!!!!

Michele said...

I saw this swimsuit in the catalog awhile back and remember showing it to my hubby in outrage! Why on earth would anyone EVER put their darling innocent daughter in a "string" bikini. And we will ask ourselves why teen pregnancy is on the rise?! No idea ;) Just sad really. Mothers of daughters really need to pray for other mothers of daughters...it is such an uphill battle of teaching modesty.

Amanda Ledford said...

That is wrong on so many levels!

Traci said...

Yeah- that one probably won't show up on Big Mama's Fashion Friday. Yikes.

Debbie said...

Nooooo!

bethany said...

Wow. Awful. It's horrible how hard it is to find modest baby suits-come on people!!

Culture is trying to get our children even at a younger age than 5. Thank the Lord that all of you young mom's are seeing for what it is. My heart would break to pieces if I if I heard anyone say, "how cute." Cute isn't the word that came to my mind the first time I saw the pictures. I thought sick! Who who came up with that design? That person is ill too!

Zoe said...

um, disturbing! The coverup is cute, but I can't imagine putting the bikini on my daughter. Who comes up with stuff like this??

His Jules said...

That is just wrong on so many levels!!!!

LynnAnn said...

Booby Bugs!

Sorry . . . couldn't help myself.
No need to actually post this; I don't want to offend anyone. I just couldn't keep it in :) And I agree - tacky to the max.

Alicia said...

Ha. Love it.

Oh, my word! What on earth is going on? Just shows how even more diligent we have to be in protecting our children's innocence and be godly role models for them.

Angela said...

Ha! Too bad, I was hoping for something good! We are doing Ava's first b-day in lady bugs and I have been getting lady bug stuff! Won't be getting that! ;-)

Kristen said...

Yikes!

bethany said...

That is just wrong! My reaction when I opened the page was a loud gasp....I hope that my sister in law never thinks that something like that is cute for my little niece (1 1/2 yr. old). What is it with our culture and taking away the innocence of girls?!

Lori said...

Wow! There are no words for that. I can NOT IMAGINE putting my sweet 3 year old in that!

Rachel said...

no. way.

seriously?!?

this isn't an early April fools' joke?

hm. There just aren't words for this reality. Please, Lord, come quickly.

Anonymous said...

Well, the cover up is cute but that bikini is out of control.

Lauren said...

Yuck! That is awful!

Amber said...

That is just disturbing!

The Wootens said...

uh--ga-ross!

Sarah said...

Wow. That's all I can even think to say about that one! We're pretty big fans of the one piece around here :)

Danana Banana said...

Even Pamela Anderson wouldn't wear that!!

Kristen Love said...

Ugh, how sad :-(

Mandy said...

Speechless. And a little nauseated.

Erica said...

All I can say is, "Wow!"

Melissa said...

Oh my word. Not only will be 10 yr old daughter be in one pieces, so will my 1 yr old!

Good grief, and it's $39..what for?? There's nothing to it!

Roxanne said...

Not to mention the price tag...is $40 really the average price for a child's swimsuit?

annalee said...

for a much more tasteful selection, i can direct everyone to the land's end kids swimwear this summer! the palm beach ruffle tank, seersucker tank, and classic skirted swimsuits are oh-so-cute.

The B Family said...

I know...I get that catalog and about fell off my seat when I saw that in it!
Further proof that homeschooling my children is shielding their innocent eyes, ears and hearts from the corruption of this world...impossible for me to believe that someone with children actually thought this was okay to design for little girls.

Paige said...

That is terrible. I cannot even believe someone thought that was a good idea. What is even scarier is what kind of people actually buy this AND THEN put it on their child?

I struggle right now finding underwear for my four year old little girl that covers everything it is supposed to that isn't covered in werewolves, skull and crossbones and trashy sayings!

I may have to learn to sew...

Rachel said...

I will never look at a ladybug the same again. How funny!

Tonya said...

I have 2 boys and am expecting my first girl in July. I am THRILLED to be having a baby girl, but I'm not sure I know what I'm in for when it comes to clothing choices! Wow...I love ladybugs, but that's just disturbing!

Sunni said...

Wow! 5 minutes ago I was showing my mother the exact same thing. I was appalled to that it went up through a size 6.

Sunni said...

Even scarier... my three year old just saw it and said "I want that bay-bin suit." Time to break out the modesty speech. :)

Tiffany said...

Wow. That is definitely wrong! Target & Old Navy both came up with some modest swim suits - rash guard tops for baby girls. I was super excited & ordered my modest, sun protecting suit for my baby girl :)

Allison said...

I'm going to be the odd man out, but I think its cute, as far as baby bikinis go!

MississippiMom said...

That is horrible. That's all I can say.

Deedra said...

...*wonders why there even is such a thing a bikinis for little girls*

Tonya said...

wowza! sad really how society just wants our baby girls to grow up WAY to quickly!

Sarah said...

That's just wrong! I love little lady bug onsies and hats and little outfits, but that CWD Kids "bikini" thing is just distasteful! I have had my eyes opened as well as my friends and family have been having babies and I've been buying clothes--how, if you wanted, you can dress little girls (even babies!) up like "women of the night" so to speak...it's a sad commentary on our sick culture.

I say, dress them as cute-sie, match-ie, baby girls for as long as you can, because soon enough they will have an opinion about what they want to wear! Let them look like little girls/babies for as long as you can!

I have looked at CWD things in the past and generally like them (even though most of them are out of my price range) - but that item you linked to is just wrong.

Sorry...guess you hit on a nerve. :) Needless to say, AB won't be sporting THAT this summer! EESH.

Hope you have a good weekend. :)

RitzFamily said...

So sad! My heart breaks for the parents who lack the better judgement to cover up their sweet little girl, but instead parade her around in this ridiculous so called swimsuit! May the Lord open their eyes to how wrong it is to not teach our little girls modesty at a young age.

Dionna said...

Sigh. I. Just. Can't. Find. The. Words.

Carley said...

Oh. My. Word. That is just wrong!

AKat said...

That's just WRONG!!! You know some poor little baby girl will be sporting it this summer, too.

Gayle @ thewestiecrew said...

This makes me sick to my stomach. My daughter is only 9 years old and you would not believe the struggle it is to find her a modest bathing suit. The garbage retailers try to sell us for these precious girls absolutely makes me furious!

Katy said...

GULP!!! I have 2 boys and I'm thankful Speedo's aren't in style for them.

baseballmama said...

I am appalled!

Leyla said...

I know! I saw that in a catalog at my mom's house yesterday and I thought...NO WAY!!! That's crazy! Who would want their baby wearing that? What are we teaching our daughters?

Bonnie said...

The best part? The ad says the bikini & cover up run small - you might want to order larger...

Seriously?

FitzandMolly said...

awful. just awful.

Carrie said...

Gross! That's all I'm going to say.

Laura said...

I totally agree with all the ladies who have already commented. This suit is such a 'mess up' of what could have been a really cute swim suit for our little girls!! I have already purchased ONE PIECE swimsuits for my 4 and 5 year old beauties!!

gillian said...

Oh my gosh, i got that catalog in the mail the other day and was so shocked to see that!!!

Gayle @ thewestiecrew said...

I just HAD to come back over here and tell you that I found an adorable yet modest swimsuit for my girl at Target last night! I wasn't even really looking at that time, but there it was!
Plus there were several for the little girls there that were very modest and c-u-t-e.
Go Target!!

Wonder Woman said...

Thank the good Lord it stops at size 6! I've seen a few older ladies at my neighborhood pool that would love it!

MITZI said...

I thought they were ear muffs.

Keely said...

Seriously. That is so wrong. I don't even know what to say.

Allison said...

seriously, I just threw up.

Makaela said...

Okay, two things: 1...that is SOOOO wrong! What in the world were they thinking? Sheesh!!!

2...this has nothing to do with the ladybugs, but Baby Bangs...just read that side note and HELLO!!!! I have been staring at my "spikes" for the past week wondering where they came from! UNCONTROLLABLE and not good when I'm going for the prettyfied look...can baby bangs last 3 years...maybe mine are "holy cow, this 3 year old is making my hair stand straight up!" bangs. lol.

Melody said...

That is appalling. I cannot believe someone would actually buy that for their daughter!!

katiegfromtennessee said...

Oh, not good. That is not good at all...oh my. This is 6 mo old clothing we are talking about! That's not right. Lord help us, our culture is going in the way wrong direction! This has got to turn around...

Deirdre said...

at first I seriously did not even "get" that this was a bikini. I mean come on! WHY? would someone put a baby in a bikini???? I seriously thought those were bows or a head band or something...till I looked closer.

ugh.
