The night before Thanksgiving, we were super bored and had nothing to do. It had been very hot (like 84 degrees) and I was grumpier than the Grinch. I now know that my hormones had a role in my bad mood, but at the time I blamed it on the weather. So Curtis suggested we drive to College Station (home of the fightin' Texas Aggies) and go to Santa's Wonderland. Melanie/Big Mama had told me Jackson would love it and I was willing. The only drawback was my foul, horrible mood. We got in the car and I swear to you I didn't say a word for 20 minutes because I was pouting about it being summer on Thanksgiving Eve. Somehow Curtis made me laugh and jolted me out of my funk - or maybe it was the Chickfila sandwich - and I was able to enjoy the drive through the countryside. We arrived at Santa's Wonderland just after dark and got in the hayride that would take us through the light display. We made some great memories.
The wonder of Santa's Wonderland!
My babes sitting on top of hay bales and watching the lights.
This is for my Longhorn readers.
We remembered the Alamo.
An Aggie's favorite word.
God bless Texas.
The grand finale of the lights display was the resurrection of Christ.
We could not pass up the mechanical bull, y'all.
He wasn't dressed for this but the heart of a cowboy is underneath those Gap clothes.
A horrible picture but dear to me nonetheless.
Annabeth would not give me the satisfaction of looking at the camera.
Nope. Not even!
The petting zoo was my favorite thing. Normally we are too cheap to buy the food to feed the animals, but Curtis ponied up the cash it definitely enhanced the experience. This baby cow made my day. It reminded us of our dog, Beckham.
If you look closely you'll see that I am that mother who forgets to wipe her kid's mouth after he eats. The food was great, by the way. We ate next to a big screen where they were showing Christmas movies.
Dear Daddy, all I want for Christmas is an alpaca. Or is this a llama? All I know is that we were meant to be together.
On the way out I told Jackson I wanted to take a picture of him and he did this. So funny.
We took a picture with Cowboy Santa but of course it wasn't with my camera and you better believe we paid an arm and a leg for it. Once I got it home and into a frame, I declared it worth it. Big points for Mom.

Why don't we live in Texas??? Hmph.
Looks like a fantastic time was had by all... including you :-) Glad your funk lifted so you didn't miss the fun :-)
We live in Navasota and enjoyed Santa's Wonderland last year. It always draws a large crowd!
That is so fun! Glad you guys had a great time. See you soon!
I understand you being grumpy. It happens to me in Michigan when the weather does not cooperate except I get upset in the Summer when it gets cold and it is suppose to be warm. I will give you example. When I married on June 20, 1992 it was 40 degrees out. My friend Jennifer was grumpy too. She said "Stacie, I bought such a cute dress for your wedding but instead I had to wear a winter suit!" I'm just glad my marriage hasn't ended up being cold!! ;)
How fun!
Those are too cute! We went there that same weekend and had a great time. That's funny, cause the petting zoo was my favorite.. perhaps it was because that was the only thing that kept my kids busy and they were fenced in. lol.
Looks like fun! I hope we make it up there this year. We had the same experience with the mechanical bull, we let the boys ride one recently and they were in cargo shorts and surfer shirts if I remember correctly. We got a kick out of our preppy boys who would have rather been in their cowboy clothes any day. That's what happens when mom picks out their clothes.
Oh the 80's sound dreamy right now! It's in the teens here in Ohio brrrrr...
I love the tutu! Adorable!
Courtney
oh we saw this on the way to the wedding saturday night. we might just have to make the drive for e.
Oh, my kids would love it! I couldn't help but notice how grown up Jackson looks in that first photo! Kind of scary.
I think I've read your posts out of order, but it doesn't really matter. I am rejoicing with you over the family time, the memories you're treasuring up in your heart, and the fun!
Annabeth's outfit is so cute. The tutu and reindeer t-shirt are precious.
How fun! On Tuesday afternoon, I called my husband and declared that I thought we needed to do something fun that evening. (He has been consumed with our church's Bethlehem City - in Conroe, see bethlehemcityconroe.com if anyone's interested). So, since he didn't have any church activities on Tuesday, the boys got home from school and we piled into the van and headed to Santa's Wonderland. Larry says that I perk up when I get close to Aggieland. Actually, he refers to College Station as 'the mother-ship'. You might think that marrying me would mean that he understood. Alas, in terms of Aggie spirit, this gal is unequally yoked. Thank God that we both love Him!
We also had lots of fun while we were there. But, it was actually cold...we indulged in the hot chocolate!
May more cool fronts make their way down here!
1. You are beautiful.
2. Annabeth's outfit- adorable!
3. The picture of your kids looking at lights on the hay ride was perfect.
So glad you had a good time (and some cooler weather was sent our way! )
I enjoyed the Longhorn shout out.
We can't wait to take C next year! Not sure I want to be that far away from home right now! It looks like a ton of fun!
So glad to see some posts from you! I have been wondering where you were. :)
