Fever

My little sweetie had a fever tonight. He has been under a doctor's care and what he has is not serious, but it was 103.5. That's higher than he's ever had. He hardly ever has a fever, so I didn't exactly know what to do with this. Of course I called my mom in Nashville and she gave me the run down from her hotel room. Thank You, Lord, for phones. And moms. Especially moms. Since my boy was not feeling well, he was very snugly and let me rock him for a long time before I laid him down. It was the sweetest thing. I just love him so much. What a gift God has given us as women to be able to feel such a powerful, wonderful emotion. That same powerful emotion of love can be like a piercing sword, can't it? As I rocked him and prayed for his fever to come down, I was mindful of so many moms whose children are suffering from terrible illnesses. If that is you, I am so sorry. I would like to pray for you right now.

Lord Jesus, thank You for giving us hearts of compassion and love for our children. You see how our hearts break when our babies are in pain. I pray right now that You would touch each suffering child and relieve their pain. Please bring complete healing and relief. Give their mothers courage, faith, peace, and hope. Bring people around them with words of encouragement and life. Appoint friends and family to help where they can. Carry them with your grace and mercy. Deliver them from the fire, Lord Jesus. In Your holy, healing name, Amen.

It is so so hard when our babies are sick. My 2nd baby had a fever like that a few months ago. Out of 3 kids, it was the highest fever any of them had ever had, and it scared me a lot! Thankfully we have a friend that's a doctor, he told me not to worry, that even if it goes as high as 105, it can't do any damage unless it stays there for hours. Motrin works best for my kids, but Tylenol works the fastest. Our doctor recomends alternating them every 3 hours. I hope he sleeps well (and you too!) and wakes up feeling much better. I'm adding you both to my prayers...and I loved your prayer.

I'm praying for you and Jackson. I know how difficult it is when your child is hurting. I'm sure your mom gave you the standard ibuprofen then tylenol remedy. It's still tough to watch them with a fever.

Even when they're older, it still cuts to the bone. My daugher has been in Children's hospital twice so far this year and missed more school than she's attended. I so appreciate your prayer.

Know that I'm covering you and Jackson in prayer tonight.

May you both feel His healing (cooling) touch.

I hate when my boys get high fevers--it is just so sad. I hope your little guy is better today.

I too, am thankful for the compassion and love that God gave us (moms). I am also thankful that my mom is still here. No matter how old I get, I still pick up the phone to get her advice and encouragement.

Prayed that prayer with you for these women with sick babies...it breaks my heart.

I pray for Jackson as well. Lord, may your face shine upon this sweet one, whom You love so fiercely. Heal him of this fever and may Jackson perk up even now.
We love you Jesus and thank you for Moms, like Beth and Amanda, who love so much, it has to overflow somewhere. Thank you for the Jesus' splashes of this family of Jones' and Moore's.
We love you much in Him!

Manda, my boys, even Sara, specialized in high high fevers! Mark especially could go to 104, even 105 on occasion. The only good part was that they, too, cuddled during the high temps! I couldn't put them down. Praying for sweet Jackson, and for you. love you so.....

Why is it that even as a 24 year old currently not feeling well, I want a mama's love?

Hope your little one is feeling better...

And I agree in the spirit realm with your prayer. In Jesus' Name

I totally understand waht you're goign through. Sara has a fever a few weeks ago that landed us in the ER- it got up to 105 and I was so scared. They had to put her in an ice bath to get it down. She was so scared and crying and I wanted to cry with her. I thought of all of the mommies who do this regularly with their sick kids and was sad for them.

Since I taught special ed, I had alot of medically fragile kids in my class and had one or 2 of them in the hospital on a reg. basis. I would go and visit them and always admired the strength of the parents who deal with that regularly. God gives them an extra dose of strength I think, b/c they are some super-mommies.

Hope sweet Jackson starts to feel better- sending up prayers for him. Take care.

Thanks so much for praying like that. I just got back from Deeper Still. We had a GREAT time, but just before I left yesterday my 3 year old came down with a bad case of croupe and had a 102 fever. The past 3 times I've gone out of town this has happened with one of my girls. I'm going out of town next weekend with a LifeWay event, so please pray my girls stay well! Praying for little Jackson tonight! Alternate the Tylenol and Ibuprofen every 3 hours...it always works for mine!

Before I had kids when someone would tell me their child was sick, I felt badly for them, but now as a mother, I totally understand how it breaks your heart when one of your babies is not feeling well.
When my 2nd child was about three months old, I was in the bathroom getting ready for church. My husband screamed at the top of his lungs that the baby had stopped breathing - he was turning blue! He was completely fine at his feeding 2 hours earlier. We called EMS and instead of being on my way to Sunday School I found myself in the back of an ambulance praying for my little precious man. My whole Sunday School class was praying as well and when the doctor came in and examined him he said "I cannot find anything wrong, but would it be okay if I pray for your son and your family?"
God is soooo good - Can you believe He loves us more than we love our own children? How can that be? Amazing.

Hope Jax is feeling better...Fevers always freaked me out, but I think the baths in ice water freaked my kids out worse.

Just got home from Nashville...Your mom KILLED IT! Priscilla was anointed..And Kay? Is that what freedom looks like when you are 70+? Lord that woman can get away with saying any crazy thang...I'm sure mom will tell you how she had to peel herself off the floor..:))

My heart is full...what a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for your prayers for Emma. They mean everything to my friends.

Thank you for praying for moms with sick kids. I have one just a little bit older than Jackson and he has had some pretty major health issues (ie. surgeries...) when he was little. He's pretty great now, thank God but man was it scary.
It is kind of you to think of others when your child is sick. Having our little Scott has given me much more compassion for others.
PS
You never said of you saw any celebrites at the IVY?!?!

Hey girl...
I truly pray your sweet baby is better now and his fever is gone and you are resting better....but there is just something about the love of momma and child during those sick times.....

Just back from Deeper Still! Holy cow! Amanda....I don't think I can articulate yet how AMAZING this weekend was....there were so many emotions for me in one place and GOD WAS THERE!! He was so present and dealing with us all in our own unique way. I laughed, I cried, I was convicted, I danced, I praised, I dealt with "stuff" and God spoke very clearly to me about some very specific things....most of all....those women...your mom, Kay Arthur, and Priscilla Shrire, just knocked our socks off. Truly...the WORD came!

I had no idea how your momma was a Beyonce' wanting to come out. Make her tell you about her dancin at the end!! And....how the question/answer session got her face down on the floor!!

I can't wait to comment once the LPM blog is updated and I can revisit the event.....Our Jesus is just awesome and I'm more in love than ever.

Bless you friend....Bless your family!
Fran

Oooh! I just hate fevers now (ever since Woggie's seizure). His fever shot up last weekend and he had another (very small) episode. He ran one off and on for 2 days and then on day 3, an enormous molar popped right through his little gums. Poor guy!

I'm glad Jackson is feeling better now!

Amanda,
To hear the way you talk about being a mommy and the love you have for your precious son just makes my heart long even more to experience that incredible blessing from the Lord. Thankfully, the Lord sees how my heart breaks and feels my pain too. Any prayers on behalf of all of us with aching arms are greatly appreciated. That the Lord would grant peace as we wait on, and learn to accept, His perfect plan for our lives.

Praying for your sweetheart, and all the other children suffering right now.

Love in Jesus,
Longing to be a mom
