None of This Goes Together

Okay, this is so me.

Sunni is doing the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk in honor of her mom.

Sabrina, one of my oldest friends in the world, has just opened up a new etsy store called Noodles and Milk. She's celebrating with a giveaway on her blog.

Hubby is home and doesn't have to work today. Jacks is at MDO, so I have him to myself almost all day. Joy!

Also, we've had a tiny little cool front, so I took our big, fat, white dog on a walk today and he was so happy. (Most people/animals get fat in the winter from inactivity, but I think in Houston we get fat(ter) in the summer because it is too hot to leave the house.) He was more tired at the end than Pregnant Girl, which is not a good sign for him. Bless his heart.

I bought some cocoa butter lotion from The Body Shop and it is taking me back to junior high, which is when I was a wannabe activist and was completely devoted to that store and lotion. So why was I using pregnant lady lotion in junior high? I had no idea, and my friends sure did miss an opportunity to make fun of me. Other smells that take me back are freesia, flowering herbs, and rose lotion from Bath and Body Works. (Not sure they even make them anymore. I know they don't make rose. It was VERY strong.) One whiff of those and I want to wear a sports bra every day, only allow my hair to be seen in a pony tail, and coordinate matching outfits with my BFF's. Y'all, I had it goin' on in junior high.

Sonic is very, very close to being dead to me. I visited two different Sonics in 48 hours that were closed. On the second attempt, I was given some (really great) coupons by the owner who had pity on me. On the day I tried to use the free ice cream cone coupon at a third Sonic location, they were out of ice cream. If you could have seen the fit my son proceeded to throw over their lack of ice cream, you would understand why I could make such a radical statement.

Y'all have a good day.

I know what you mean about Sonic. What happened to them? Ever since the storm, half seem to be closed and those that are open have something out of order (I know which one you are talking about with no ice cream - made me upset too...)

Junior high... let's not go back there.

So, you'll love this: for YEARS in high school, I worked at The Body Shop. I. Loved. That. Job. Still love their products...

I wore Freesia from B&BW all during high school! Wow, that takes me back!

Good luck on the Sonic quest!

Oh PLEASE don't give up on Sonic. It's my second home. But our sonics up here are pretty good. I can't live without my sonic drinks.
Your friend's stuff is cute! I need to go get Harper a little onesie!

That's okay...I would have had a hissy fit if my Sonic had been out of Diet Coke...I hope Jackson got his ice cream somewhere else:)

Oh my WORD! I am a secret singer TOO! Haha it's so sad:) I wanted to be Mariah Carey in 7-8th grade! I would make tape recordings of myself! Until my mom found the tapes and had a good laugh...lol!

I read Sunni's blog and I'm a tomato face now...very touching! What an amazing family!

Also, my friend Krista and I went on a walk this morning (lovin' the cooler air too) and were talking about opening a etsy store to sell our cute little creations! We each have a baby girl after our boy's. Lovin'the pink!

Your friends store was adorable by the way!

Glad your hubby is home and that you get him all to yourself!

I woke up this morning, listening to Sydney sing (she's sort of a secret singer, too--we just have a monitor!) in her room and thought, "She's my baby...my very last baby...and I'm a little sad about that." Then I went by your friend's "Noodles and Milk" website and saw the sizes...all too small for my baby. Now my lip is pooching out. :(

You really need to come to Sonic here in Colorado Springs--the food is tremendous and the view is invigorating!

Enjoy your Curtis this day, friend. They are precious and way too few.

I am totally laughing at the secret singer thing
I am more of a "move my mouth but do not actually sing for fear of getting bad looks" kind of singer -hehe
I totally sing in the car with my kids though and they always tell me to stop :)
I look forward to belting it out when we get to Heaven :)
I Love the randomness of this post - I feel like I do that random kind of thinking all day long :)
We leave for Disney in 1 DAY - can you tell I am excited - hehe
Have a great one

Girlfriend,
I have been craving a cherry limeaid from Sonic for days. I go today and it didn't taste very good. I was so disappointed. They are on the list. :)

Glad that hubby is home and that you had him to yourself most of the day.

Have a great weekend.

yup...back in '92...Freesia was the stuff! :) Enjoy your day with hubs! My mom has my kids for the day, so I've gotten "one of those days", too! It's more of a vacation than the "real vacation" I just took (since I took my day job--my kids--with me on "real vacation"). I do love those kiddos! They are such a blessing, but every once-in-a-while, a brief sanity break is most helpful!

I'm glad your hubby made it home safe and sound and glad you got to enjoy the day together.

Bummer about the sonics being closed! We have four in our town. In fact....I've heard that our town had the very first Sonic ever. (fyi) ;)

I found a little baby gift today and wondered if I should just send it to LPM? If so, is their new address on their website?

You can leave me a comment or my email is valeriechris60@live.com to let me know the best way to get it to you.

There are tons of adorable little girl things out there. This is just a little something I found today and thought of you.

I totally rocked some "flowering herbs" back in the day!
It hurts my heart to hear you giving up on Sonic! But I know they are frustrating sometimes!

I love random posts!

Stuff Christians Like is always so funny! The secret singer...hysterical! I love to sing and I have the worst voice!

Sunni-what an honor to read about your precious mother! Thank you for sharing Amanda!

OK... Sonic Diet Cokes with fresh lime crushed ice... my all time favorite! mmm...

Enjoy Curtis being home! : )

In high school the scents from B&BW that were the most popular and ones that I wore were cucumber melon and pearberry....don't think pearberry is still being made but cucumber melon still is and I can't take too much of the smell anymore!

Sarah said...

Aaaaah, Fresia! That takes me back too!

I've noticed that my Sonic is starting to skimp on the crushed ice. Isn't that the whole point of Sonic?

I remember the pretend activist days...remember when Rose Tran would make us Earth Day posters for the inside of our lockers? And me and you and someone else, was it Jenny? No...I don't remember who, but we all went to the zoo and wore those t-shirts with sea turtles on them...they were like the early 90s equiv of organic cotton or something because they were kind of an off yellow color. We ROCKED!

And furthermore...Montana doesn't have Sonic, I'm going to tell myself that I'm not missing too much if the quality has gone downhill. But who are we kidding sister? I'd drive hours for a Sonic Diet Coke...oh, the ice....sigh...

speaking of Bath and Body...
I love their vanilla chamomile lotion SO MUCH.
and they discontinued it.

You can still find it though.
On ebay.
For forty dollars a bottle.
(sigh)

So now I like their lavender chamomile lotion. It's very similar. like a sister to mine.
and they're both the 'sleep' brand. The ladies there (who I've had check the back recesses of their storage room for possible leftover overlooked vailla cham. bottles. at every store in a 30 mile radius of my home. can you say OCD?) tell me that they'll have a new one coming out before the holidays very similar to the one I long for.
Just hoping and praying it's close.

Your friend's boutique is cute.
Wish mine were still little enough for any of it!

I've loved Stuff Christians Like for a long time. We have some not-so-secret singers in our congregation. It's hilarious!
Sonic is going downhill fast for me also. I'll always love their drinks, but the food-I'm over it. More crushed ice, please!!

The Allens said...

Ooh! The sonic experience sounds very, very bad.

Ummm, when I was pregnant (in the summer) I used to go to Sonic and order a huge drink just for the ice. I dont know why (lack of iron), but I love ice when I am pregnant. Zaxby's and Sonic have the best ICE EVER!!! I mean if you are pregnant and craving something cold and crunchy......

Flowering Herbs??? You're speaking my language. I found 2 bottles of that lotion at their last semi-annual sale. One of the clerks told me they bring back some of the oldies only for those sales. Blessings, Whitney

Little Momma, you and Hubs had a date:) Those are hard to come by, I'm told, once you have kids:)...Oh, you make me laugh! I'm sure you were cool stuff! My older sis was cool stuff too-I wanted to be like her (I was the kid with the frizzy wavy hair and bangs (b/c of my mom, love her heart, liked bangs) because I didn't realize that my hair was as curly as it is. Praise the Lord for my friend's momma who became my hairstylist-she taught me what a diffuser and mousse was:) I'm forever grateful...Aww, you and Jackson have a thing for Sonic?? Maybe you'll find one open and with icecream next time:)

You have a good day too, Little Momma!:)

I miss Sonic, there are none in close distance to us anymore now that we have moved. Although I do remember when we lived near one they ALWAYS ran out of ice cream.
And I am tagging you....

Isn't it funny how a certain smell can take you back to a certain time or memory in life?

Sonic had better watch out because I know from experience that when a pregnant girl gets mad at a store regarding food they are in T-R-O-U-B-L-E. When I was pregnant with my last child I had terrible, terrible morning sickness. With my first 3 pregnancies I had never been sick, so getting used to this was quite a chore. However, I figured out one day that if I just gave into my cravings then I would feel better. One day after a long, hard day with my other 2 kids I was craving sweet tea. I was almost home and remembered I did not have sugar and I did not want to have to drive back into town just for sugar, so I decided to stop at a gas station. I never, ever, never carry cash. I went to pay for my bag of sugar that was really double the price than at the grocery store, but who cared?, and the guy told me I had to buy at least $5 worth of stuff to use my debit card. W-H-A-T? Are you kidding me? I was so angry. I stormed out of the store and never went back. My children still remember that incident and my youngest child loves hearing the story!

Hope Sonic does pull through for you the next time you go!

Flowering Herbs makes me think if Erin Wright....EVERY TIME. I remember being in her bathroom (that was decorated with the pink and yellow Waverly fabric which I had the blue....as did Mrs. Kholkerst.) and brushing out hair and pretending to be older. Or some nonsense like that.
