Heading West

Whoopee ti yi yo
Get along, little Jonesies
You know that Wyoming will be your new home.

Did y'all like that? It made me think of third grade.

Tomorrow we're handing our house keys and our dog over to a sitter. We're leaving the blazing hot, humid flatlands and heading to the not-as-hot, crisp, mountainous glory that is Jackson Hole. Praise be to God. And we're flying.

Our date with George was amazing. I had recently gone to the NKOTB concert and been sorely disappointed in how gross their new songs are and how offensive they were when they spoke at the microphone. That's why I never wrote about it. I was so sad that it wasn't the same innocent concert from my childhood. After that, I swore that if George Strait disappointed me I would renounce Texas and leave forever. No worries, y'all, because George was a gentleman. My favorite moments were when he sang "Heartland," "The Chair," and "Troubador." I had given these tickets to Curt for Father's Day and even though we sat so high I had to close my eyes at first, he loved it as much as I hoped he would. Maybe those seats will have prepared us to dwell at an elevation higher than sea level for the next 2 weeks.

I'm officially awake at 1:00 AM for the fourth night in a row. Why am I such an idiot? My left eyelid has been twitching like crazy for lack of sleep. If you happen to see me in the airport tomorrow, please don't think I'm winking at you.

You go girl! Have fun flying! :) Our road trip is almost over! We get home on Wednesday. I think the girls will be happy to not ever get in the car again :)

I can't believe you went to NKOTB and didn't talk about it! I went to their concert in 7th grade...I'm sad it was so disappointing for you. Glad I didn't go- they came to Cardiff when I was 37 weeks pregnant. I was afraid I would go into labor!

Have fun in the mountains!!!

I'm looking at reservations for Hubs and I to Jackson Hole this VERY DAY! We've never been and decided just last night that this was the location of choice for a late summer getaway...glad to know that "glory awaits"!

Interestingly, we, too, went to the George Strait concert that was the first event in the new Cowboys Stadium. It was wonderful and George was, indeed, quite a gentleman. So good to know that chivalry isn't dead everywhere!

Have a wonderful trip with your sweet family!

George Strait!!! I remember seeing him in concert years ago, and he is such a classy guy and a great performer. So glad he didn't disappoint.
Have fun in Wyoming...should be a welcome respite from the Texas heat.

I have been HIGHLY disappointed with NKOTB lately. If they don't watch themselves, I'm afraid a bunch of angry girls in their 20s are going to kick them off the block and straight to the curb.

I grew up in Pearsall, TX, which is where George lived until he graduated from High School (many years ahead of me). I never knew him personally but his dad was a deacon at our small-town Baptist church. He was the nicest man you could ever know - Godly, humble and kind. He was always there, and always serving in some capacity. I am glad to hear George is not dishonoring his dad's legacy.

So glad to hear George didn't disappoint y'all!! But I knew he wouldn't, he's such a great entertainer, an absolute gentleman!!

Have a fabulous time in Jackson Hole-I love that little town! Travel safe!

I have to say that I am so jealous! My husband and I honeymooned in Jackson Hole and have vacationed there since. We love the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone! We named our son Cody (and debated Jackson) because of the state of Wyoming. We were going to go back while he is on his Sabbatical this fall but my c-section expenses got in the way. :) We are going to try and go for our 5th anniversary in the spring. Anyway, have so much fun and enjoy relaxing!!

We pray you will have a very relaxing vacation. Can't wait to see the pics.

BTW, we are headed to Orlando in early September with our 5 year old grandson. I know you probably won't have time to answer this, but if any of your blog followers could answer, that would be great. We only have 2 days at Disney, so if we could only do a couple of things, which would you recommend? Thanks!

Enjoy your trip!! It's hard to imagine that places actually exist where it's not so hot that you feel like you're living in a convection oven.

I feel so much better knowing the NKTOB concert was a flop! I really wanted to go catch up with my Joey Joe and the gang, but never got the opportunity. Thanks for letting me know I didn't miss anything!!
ENJOY your vacation, I love getting away with just my family!!

Say hi to my Wyoming peeps. I'm from Casper, Wyo (now live in Michigan) but I go back to Wyo a few times a year to see family and friends. No place like it on earth. Wish I would have appreciated it growing up (I thought it was lame and for hicks)

WRONG.

Have fun!

Enjoy your time away! So glad it worked out to fly. Did Curtis see the light and decide to rent a dog and truck instead?

Hello Amanda, I am really just getting to know you while trying to stop by yur blog a lil more. I know you probably get a lot of comments in relation to your mother and I have tried not to go there in embracing who you are. But, I just want to say how refreshing it is to see your true heart of conviction through every day life, while you live what she so faithfully teaches. Thank you for being real without making it seem unreachable and for recognizing those places that set us apart without compromise. Sometimes saying little says a lot, like your simple reference to a concert.

May He return much favor for blessing go you.
