And She's Off

On Tuesday, October 20, 2009, my baby girl crawled for the first time. I was sitting in front of a mirror in my bedroom, drying my hair when she crawled to the cell phone I had slid across the floor to bait her. I was watching her like a hawk because she'd been getting close for days. She did four little crawling steps toward my bedroom door. The sound of her little knees pounding the carpet is fresh in my mind.

I didn't have the camera ready when she was making her first strides, but here we were trying to repeat it.

It amazes me that at only 8 months she already seeks out the things that aren't brightly colored plastic, i.e. the things she's not supposed to have.

I lost several cell phones to Jackson's drool and don't plan on repeating that. But I had to give her a moment of victory.

If I'm remembering correctly, Jackson first crawled to a remote control. Girl to the phone, boy to the remote. Sounds about right.

Jackson crawled at 8 months and 14 days.

Annabeth crawled at 8 months and 17 days. Pretty close, I'd say!

I'm so proud of you, Annabeth!

Hooray for Annabeth!! Totally random, but she looks good in brown! Why do babies like the cell phones and remotes? I have never understood that. They started crawling really close in age! I SO miss the crawling stage.

I could just eat that picture of Jackson.

Congratulations to Annabeth! So very long ago I remember when mine crawled. Just remember what my aunt who taught children would say "The longer they crawl the smarter they will be"... let that baby crawl and crawl and crawl!

Go Annabeth! I'm so proud that the cell phone gave her the motivation she needed. A girl after my own heart.

Way to go Annabeth!!

And, yes, off-limits things make the best toys. I have no idea why.

I think the pictures of Jackson and Annabeth look so similar, except that it is easy to see Jackson has distinctly boy features, while Annabeth is such a little lady. Too cute!

What is it with baby girls and phones? Mine loves the phone, too, and absolutely knows the difference when I remove the battery so she can play with it!

It's amazing to me how similar Annabeth and Jackson's baby pictures look! Like twins!! Both so adorable! Yes, the crawling dates are incredible, too; I have always thought there is definitely a genetic component+a motivational component to the timing of their mobility, since mine all did it at around the same time, too. Sweet to share it with you! ;-)
