A Litte Bit About Me

...As if you needed to know more!

I saw this little questionnaire on Heather's blog the other day and thought it would be fun to do. I'm sort of in a blogging rut anyway.

1. What is your favorite thing to snack on while your blogging?
Right now I wish I had some sour cream and onion Pringles.

2. What is one thing you wouldn't want to live without?
My non-spiritual, unemotional answer is a razor.

3. Beach, Mountains, or Farm? Where would you live if you had a choice?
This is hard! All three would be fun. Lately I've been thinking about farm life.

4. What's your least favorite chore/household duty?
Mopping. Yuck!

5. Who do people say you remind them of?
My mom, probably because I'm such an eloquent speaker and powerful teacher. Yeah right! We're quite alike in the way we think and in what we're passionate about.

6. Prefer parties and socializing or staying home with the fam?
I like to socialize but I hate being gone too many nights in one week. I guess I like whatever I'm lacking.

7. What's your all time favorite movie?
Steel Magnolias. All the women in my mom's family (Nanny, mom, my aunts, Melissa and I) used to watch this whenever we were together. That hasn't happened in a very long time, but the Moore girls still adore this movie and Annabeth and I watched it together in Wyoming. It was a full circle moment for me.

8. Do you sleep in your make-up or remove it like a good little girl every night?
Oh no, no, no. I would NEVER sleep in my makeup. I'd wake up with more acne than a teenager. That reminds me that I failed to mention the irony of having a serious acne breakout the week of my 30th birthday. I'm one of the lucky ones.

9. Do you have a hidden talent or a deep desire to learn something that you've never had a chance to learn? What is it?
I've always wanted to learn to ride English and jump fences.

10. What's one strange thing you're really good at?
I'm pretty good at drawing horses. And making collages.

11. What first attracted you to your spouse?
He was funny and he reminded me of Val Kilmer.

12. What is something you love to smell?
Mrs. Meyers lavender countertop spray. That is the best stuff!

13. Tell something about you that you know irritates people.
I can be really bad about calling or returning calls. The only time I like talking on the phone is when I'm in the car, but I try not to when I'm riding with my kids.

14. When you have extra money, what's the first thing you think to do with it?
Go shopping.

15. Are you a silent laugher or a loud laugher? What makes you laugh the hardest?
I used to be more of a silent laugher, but at some point I realized loud laughing is more fun. Curtis Jones's laughter makes me laugh the hardest, especially when he does the silent laugh/guffaw combo.

16. Where is your favorite place to shop?
I've always been very loyal to Banana Republic. Although I have to admit that I AM NOT AT ALL PLEASED with their decision to stop selling long pants in their stores. I will forgive them because of their merino wool sweaters, lycra undershirts, and LBD's. (Heather, I am very excited about my gift card!) I probably do most of my shopping there, at Forever 21, and at The Nord.

17. What's one thing you'd do more often if you had more time?
I'd probably read more books. Of course I could do that if I would turn off my computer.

18. Are you a big spender or frugal?
I wouldn't say I'm a big spender but I struggle at bargain shopping.

19. Who is your favorite character of all time?
I love, love, love Ivy (the blind girl in love with Joaquin Phoenix) from The Village. If we had another daughter, I can't swear she wouldn't be named Ivy.

20. Would you want to be famous?
I think being truly famous would be much more of a burden than a blessing. But being a little famous would probably give you a lot of the perks without the pain of being a spectacle everywhere you go. I'd rather be a less popular actress who was well respected than a superstar who couldn't go anywhere without being mobbed. Mostly, I think there's no possible way famous people are as happy as normal people. If you had everything the world has to offer - fame, wealth, and power - and that still didn't fulfill you, wouldn't you be terribly depressed?

What are some or all of your answers?

I love your answers- Steel Magnolias always makes me think about my Grandma, razors are essential, and being normal totally outweighs fame. :)

Ooooooh! Love this! Totally stealing it for my blog!

I have never seen Steel Magnolias. All of a sudden I feel like I'm missing out on one of life's great joys.

I would love to tell you that your acne will disappear by the time you're 33, but it hasn't for me. Bah.

I don't like talking on the phone either.

And I would NOT want to be famous.

I love all of your answers! You rock!

Ooh- love those Pringles! When we were young (ok, so I admit I've shown my kids), we used to make two of them into a duck beak and stick our tongues through the middle. I know- classy.

I like Ever After. Can't say it's my favorite, but I love a good Cinderella story!

I have wanted to try being a Jazzercise instructor. But after trying out their Dancing Abs video and having my husband walk in on me, I am re-evaluating my goals and aspirations.

I love smelling fresh roses- not the florist's, but the home-grown yard ones. I used to be able to buy one for $1 on the street corner below our apartment in Kyiv and I always had one on our kitchen table.

Famous? I'm famous in my own house and can't even go to the bathroom alone, so I can summarily dismiss any desires for that to go public. Ugh.

Although I could look at sweet pictures of Annabeth all day (not in a weird stalker way....just because I have boys and she has to be the cutest thing EVER), this was a fun questionnaire.

I also could not live without my razor or tweezers, although if I had to pick one I guess I could use a razor in place of tweezers if I must!

LOVE Steel Magnolias....I am not a movie repeater. If I've seen it once, that's usually enough for me. But, there is just something about that movie that I love!!!!

Make-up comes off every single night no matter what. My husband is lucky if he even makes it home to see it before it is washed off!

I would not want to be famous. People thinking they know all about me when they don't , their expectations, no privacy.......no thank you! Now if a certain famous hand bag designer or two just HAD to have me show off their latest design, well then, maybe I'd reconsider!

Fav. snack... I don't have one but I love relaxing w/ a hot cup of coffee or tea.

Fav movie... Father of the Bride 2

Can't live w/out...nothing comes to mind.

Farm lately, too.

Don't like doing laundry but my daughters pretty much do it all - thanks to a Duggars TV episode.

People say I remind them of???

Love being at home but enjoy getting dressed up for parties.

So sleep in my make up and wake up with racoon eyes.

I don't have a fav place to shop. I have only been shopping for myself maybe ten times since I was 18 and I'm 34 now. Maybe more than that but it's close. Thank goodness people like to give me their old stuff!

I can irritate people...I don't know how exactly but it seems more and more people get irritated about something. I've learned compliments and irritations can both have a very short shelf life so I don't place too much weight in either.

This was fun. Hope you enjoy reading it!

Here are my replies...

2) Ha! I totally agree. Just ask Kimberly Mc., we've had some serious discussions about razors.

6) As much as I love to socialize, I too hate being gone too many nights in a row. I love me some good home time.

8) Thank you. Some people just do not understand! I've washed my face literally every night consistently (probably the only thing I do consistently) since 6th grade. No joke. And let's face it, I didn't take Accutane years ago to ruin my face again by not washing it every night. I'm anal like that.

13) Me too! Thankfully my friends are very forgiving. I'm just awful at returning phone calls. Maybe I just don't love the phone? I'd so much rather be face to face.

18) Next time you need a good bargain shopper, just let me know. That is one thing I'm great at!

This was fun! I've seen it around a lot lately and have thought about doing it. We shall see!

With you on the razors, can't sleep with stubble on my legs. Our house is always stocked full of sour cream and onion pringles, I tried english and fence jumping but never got the horse over the fence (to nervous), my drawing horses look like dogs, my thirtieth birthday next month better not come with acne, my mom calls me Minnie Me and the gals in my family love to get together and watch What Not To Wear. That show is our class on how to dress. I just wish they weren't so snarky all the time, but ratings, gotta have the ratings. My eight month old daughter has taught me how to laugh out loud.

Just have to say - J.Crew stopped selling long pants in store also...it seems that most have. The point is to try them on - not order online. I am frustrated with the pant situation also.

Just a few responses: Love cheez-its, Home Alone (the first one) because it makes me laugh hard! I am a loud laugher. Got to remove the make up...I too would have a break out. My annoying trait is I am a little dramatic about things. :) I don't want to be famous...I like privacy. I love what Tara G said about being famous. I agree!!!

I don't love shopping except for shoes and books!

This was fun!
THanks for sharing, Amanda!

Thus the reason I never call you. Not because you don't return but because we share that distaste of talking on the phone.

I think I'll play along.

Eliseo said...

What is your favorite thing to snack on while your blogging?
Hmmm - I used to eat lunch while on the puter but now I don't and I don't snack too often. So I guess the most common thing to bring in while I'm typing would be a piece of dark chocolate or a cookie.

2. What is one thing you wouldn't want to live without?
Only one? My laptop!

3. Beach, Mountains, or Farm? Where would you live if you had a choice?
I love farmland. I love the look of acres of green grass, wheat, a few cows or horses and some rolling hills. Not sure I could handle the early morning working hours of a farm - but I sure do love the look and peacefulness of one!

4. What's your least favorite chore/household duty?
Cleaning bathrooms. I really procrastinate.

5. Who do people say you remind them of?
I don't know. When I was little - it was Carie on Little House on the Prairie. I can't think of someone I'm told I remind people of as an adult.

6. Prefer parties and socializing or staying home with the fam?
I am about exactly like you, Amanda! Love to be around people and socialize but I have to have breaks, down time, and some "homebody" time in between it all or I get a little stressed out.

7. What's your all time favorite movie?
Again - I don't have just one! One Night With a King, Pride and Prejudice, the Rookie - those are some of my tops.

8. Do you sleep in your make-up or remove it like a good little girl every night?
I have to remove it - but I probably don't do it properly with the whole soap/cleanser regimen.

9. Do you have a hidden talent or a deep desire to learn something that you've never had a chance to learn? What is it?
I'd like to learn how to make beautiful blankets - either crochet or knitting. I've always yearned to have horses to ride.

10. What's one strange thing you're really good at?
I've been told I'm really good at buying people gifts/presents.

11. What first attracted you to your spouse?
His humor and debonair composure.

12. What is something you love to smell?
My girls' hair after it's been washed. A baby right when it's a newborn - I love that "new baby" smell.

13. Tell something about you that you know irritates people.
I'm not sure! No one "cops" to me about it.

14. When you have extra money, what's the first thing you think to do with it?
Save a little - spend the rest.

15. Are you a silent laugher or a loud laugher? What makes you laugh the hardest?
I'm usually a smiler unless something is really, really funny. Then I'll laugh out loud.

16. Where is your favorite place to shop?
I like Ross but it's "hit or miss." If it's a "hit" I get fantastic deals. I also love Kohl's and Target.

17. What's one thing you'd do more often if you had more time?
I'd love to read more and maybe volunteer somewhere - like the hospital?

18. Are you a big spender or frugal?
I'm pretty frugal.

19. Who is your favorite character of all time?
I don't know.

20. Would you want to be famous?
I used to think so. Now I like my privacy too much. :) I think I'd love some benefits of knowing people who are famous (who wouldn't?) but I'd rather people not recognize me in public so that I could go about my business like normal. If my name was recognizable however and it got me some perks - that would be fun. So I guess I'd like a little of both worlds. I would never want to gain the whole world simply to lose my soul.

I would never, ever, ever want to be famous because people can be so mean spirited toward those in the public eye. I'm too thin skinned and I just hate mean-ness more than anything.

My blemishes finally cleared up (mostly) when I was expecting Elisabeth, our second child. Not sure why that pregnancy did the trick, but my skin is now a 6 or 7 on a scale of 1 to 10, rather than a 3 or 4. I'll take it! It's not like I'm famous and under public scrutiny or anything! See, another reason not to be famous.

Here are a few of mine:

1. What is your favorite thing to snack on while your blogging? Chocolate is ALWAYS my favorite thing to snack on whether I am blogging or not!

2. What is one thing you wouldn't want to live without? My unspiritual answer would be COFFEE! (Of course, these days I'm drinking de-caf, but still I love the taste of coffee!)

3. Beach, Mountains, or Farm? Definitely BEACH!

9. Do you have a hidden talent or a deep desire to learn something that you've never had a chance to learn? What is it? Ballroom Dancing or even Disco or Hip-Hop (growing up a good "Baptist" our motto was: "Don't drink, DANCE, smoke or chew, or go out with boys who do!" Then one day I realized there is nothing unspiritual about dancing...as a matter of fact there is a lot of dancing going on in the Bible...so now I've been set FREE TO DANCE! :)

10. What's one strange thing you're really good at? Playing the nose flute!
