The Motherload

The Motherload has arrived.

Yes, it is what you think it is.

Psalty the Singing Songbook in all his blue splendor.

We weren't getting in the car for a while, so I played CD #1 on the computer for Jackson. (This is 100% about the kids! I promise!)

Annabeth came running in as soon as she heard the music and started dancing. She was doing a squat-like move here.

Lest you think it's all roses in the Jones home, this was Annabeth just moments before. She got in trouble for hitting her brother for the 50th time today.

Curtis just walked in the door and I got caught singing loudly. The kids were nowhere near. But, like I said, this is all about them!

I recommend starting with Kids Praise 4. It is a personal favorite. :)

I was in those musicals when I was a kid! I bought two of the Psalty CD's just a few weeks ago! I was singing so loudly with one of them that my two year old kept telling me to turn it off.

We did Psalty's Hymnological Adventure Through Time when I was 8 or so (my dad got to play the big blue songbook himself! :) ) and all my favorite hymns today are from it (I'm 29)- Take My Life & Let It Be, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God... Good stuff, and great memories!!

Lauren, I listened to the first one then skipped right to number four. Love it!

You do remember that one of my college girls had a dream that I was marrying Psalty, don't you? I wanted to think it was prophetic, but then I did some internet research and found out that he was already married to some chick named Psaltina.

I loved these as a kid and can't to introduce them to my little ones. So fun!

Alison said...

Oh my goodness, I used to love Psalty when I was little! That is what we grew up singing! Didn't even know you could still find Psalty! Yay!!

Oh my word -- HAVE FUN! Nothing else plays in our van, and still my kids insist they listen to them at home all the time. It's all Psalty, all the time. And I LOVE it! My favorite part is when they ask me "Mommy, what's a record?" when Psalty says it's time to turn over the record. Kills me every time!

It won't be long til Jackson and Annabeth have all the songs and dialogue memorized. It will be music to your ears! Have fun reliving Psalty - I still get giddy!

One more thing. When I was dating my husband, we bonded because we both knew Psalty. I knew it was meant to be when he told me he went to THE REAL PSALTY's church growing up. I may have fainted, I can't remember.

I can still remember all the words from every song of the original VHS in the early 80s. My children (who are now married/out of college) LOVED Psalty and Charity Church Mouse. (Except the part about "Oh, no, don't do it, Charity!")

Jessie said...

What a great flashback! I'd kinda forgotten about good old Psalty! And charity the churchmouse? Loved her!
My girls are going be rocking out to these soon! Thanks for the reminder.

This is my first time commenting. I just couldn't pass up a shout out to Psalty. Thanks for sharing. Love your blog. :0)

Sweet!!! I'm totally adding these to my list! I've been meaning to get GT and the Halo Express for my son, but I totally forgot about Psalty! I don't know how I could have considering my dad played Psalty in a local show when I was a kid!
And you should totally check out GT as well, love 'em! (I think you can only get them from their website, not on Amazon or anywhere else I've found, but they are really good!)

I will mention this AGAIN, but I have met Psalty AND Charity in person!! We even ate Turkish food together.... eat your heart out bloggers.

How fun! I have to admit we had similar reactions to the Adventures in Odyssey collection that I ordered. They are fabulous for car trips. In fact, I got honked at the other day because I pulled up to a gas pump and then sat there for a moment to get to a good stopping point!

Honestly, I had forgotten about Psalty. Thanks for the reminder!

HAHA! Annabeth cracks me up!!!!

So cute! My kids loved "Hide 'Em in Your Heart" CDs and DVDs... not sure if they are still around? To this day if I hear or read a scripture that was on one of those CDs I sing it! : )

I love Psalty! I have a lot of memories of these songs as a kid. And, my own little guy knew "The Patience Song" word-for-word by the time he was 16 months old. He needed it!! So fun! I might have to order a few now...

Kristen said...

I got on the website and ordered a couple of things...and now the songs from my childhood are stuck in my head. such good memories.

Kiki said...

You were not kidding when you called it the Motherload! You don't order just a couple to make sure the kids like it, do you?!

HappyascanB said...

Are you kidding me? Psalty the Singing Songbook!?!?! I LOVED HIM! And I called myself searching the internet for Psalty now that I have a 20 month old niece and newborn baby, but I couldn't find him. . . . But you did AND you linked up to him! THANK YOU!!!!

Yeah, it's all for the kids. I'll be saying that, too, as I sing along!!
