Back in the Day

I just ripped these off Michelle's blog, so please go say hi to her. In fact, when you click on the pictures on her blog they are actually normal sizes. They're just some fun pictures from college that made me smile!

Michelle, Bonny, Mel, and me on Ring Day. Apparently I'm eating my words after saying how casual my school was. I must have had a presentation or something because I usually did not dress like that.

Ring Day is when you've gotten 90-something hours and you finally get your long-awaited, much anticipated Aggie Ring. And then you go dunk it. For me it was in ice cream, but the tradition is to dunk it in a pitcher of beer. Some Aggies swallow their rings and they are known as Aggies Through And Through. They should be very proud.

I have no idea what the context of this one is, but it's me, Maggie, Michelle, Mel, and Bonny. We look about 15.

You might be blessed to know that in our circle of friends (and in our Christian sorority), we referred to ourselves as P.H.A.T. C.O.W.s. Would anyone like to guess what that stood for? I will send a free book to the first person who guesses right. But if you already know the answer you cannot win. And you cannot ask an Aggie. It has to be a guess! Also, our life verse was Psalm 56:1a. "Be merciful to me, O God, for men hotly pursue me."

Hmm...

Pretty Hot and Tempting Christ-only Women?

Look how cute you all were. Wait. That makes it sound like you all aren't still cute. You know what I mean.

I look back at my collegiate photos and can't believe what a baby I was! I can't believe my mother let me out of her sight, so young and foolish.

I'm looking forward to learning what that abbreviation stands for! I knew of a group of college girls who lived together and called themselves the FOMA girls for "Future Old Maids of America." I always got a kick out of that.

This is a cute post. I would love to know what P.H.A.T. C.O.W.s stands for. I am not good at this but all I could think of was: Praising Him all times, Chi Omega Women. I don't think that is right by any means but that is all that popped into my head.

Have a fun weekend!!

hehe! i love it! at sbu we used that verse for everything we could think of! one of the girls had a version of that verse that the next line read "all night long" so Men hotly pursue me all night long! HAHA! i love it. so here is my guess...

Me, too, boomama. The last line made me literally scare everyone in the room with loud laughter.

I'm with boomama - I was laughing and laughed more when I read her comment.
That is AWESOME! I wish I would have found that verse in my college/single days - I'm passing that on to the single girls I know.

I am an Aggie, so I won't guess, but I know the answer!! No telling here.

Chris asked how fast you drank your ice cream (I'm hoping it was a float). Smiling :)

I remember your verse...your Mom shared it at a LP Live conf. I marked it in my Bible with a wink ;)

Oh and the worms are called Bag Worms ...Yuk!
Love ya!

Okay, it must be after my time (oh, I'm old.) but I have no idea what PHAT COW stands for.

But I will say that your life verse made me laugh out loud.

I love the photos!! You all look so young. I love looking at my pics from colleg of course my boys have no idea who I am in the pictures - I don't think I look that different :(
Ok I am going to guess as to what
P.H.A.T C.O.W.s means and I am so bad at this stuff (I really like the guesses so far they are really good!!)
Ok here goes:
Praising Him All Through College and Out in the World!!

Amanda let us know who wins!!
I look forward to finding out what it means for real :)

Just thought I'd ask!

I'm horrible at acronyms! But I'll give it a try because I'm zany like that.
Pursued Hotly and Tirelessly Christian Old Women

Ok, I kind of gave up there at the end.

BTW, I googled "PHAT COWs" and did you know that there is a website called phatcowcartoons-dot-com?? I didn't actually click the link because the description said something about pin-ups... but an interesting tidbit nonetheless.

Okay I'm not good at this stuff either, but I'll give it a shot: Praising Him all the Time, Christ Only Women.

Amanda! LOL! I am still laughing at the beta fish story from Michelle's blog (hopped over there...totally hysterical).

I have realized tonight that I need to keep a dictionary with me at all times. Clearly, the breadth of my vocabulary is about wee big.

P.H.A.T. C.O.W
Pretty hot Aggies take control of (the) World
Please have a tantrum. Cuteness of the world.
Pass hastily all the cupcakes of the world. (I'm craving one so badly right now...)
Pretty hot and tempting chicks of the Word.
Praise Him all the courts of women.
Perhaps here a trouble, clearly of wisdom (meaning my lack of intelligence to figure this out – not you and your girls! Lol!)

Okay...I give. I'll just go buy the book :( LOL! Thanks for the entertainment though!

Shelly said...

After thought from the verse and combo...

Pursued hotly and tempting chicks of the world

oh dear...i need a life. Bless my acronym-less heart

Allison said...

So, the real question is, do you still wear the much anticipated Aggie ring?

R said...

OK, here's my feeble stab at it. I just can't pass up a challenge:

"Praise Him all times; call out 'whoop'!"?

Hahaha! No non nonsensical ideas at the moment...

We didn't have sororities, but at BBC (Baptist Bible College) in NEPA (north east PA), Psalm 56:1 was the Fletcher Dorm (52 girls) verse. :-D Very fun!

College memories are the best! I just enjoyed some tonight with my best friend as I went through some old basement boxes. :) Can't wait to hear...

Backtracked through your posts to this one (maybe, just maybe while at work. Maybe). Read the last line of your post. Laughed so hard I got my Starbucks latte stuck somewhere between my throat and my nose. You are hysterical!
