Six Degrees of Separation or Something

I've been wanting to do a post like this for a long time and today is the day! Just for fun, here are some questions.

Do we know each other? If so, how?

EX: Yes, I was one of your bridesmaids, you dork!
EX: We went to junior high church camp together. Remember when you used to wear plastic shorts with bikers underneath? And baggy tank tops? In neon colors?
EX: Yes, we were Rec Divas in 2000.
EX: Yes, are you trying to guilt trip your friends into leaving you comments?

Maybe we don't really know each other, but have we ever met?

EX: Yes, I met you in the bathroom that one time at church. You acted a little weird. (I'm seriously so sorry.)
EX: Yes, we met briefly in the mall one time. You were on your way to get your highlights done. Bless your heart, you had a 6 inch black stripe down the middle of your head.

Do we have a mutual friend or acquaintance?

EX: I'm friends with your old roommate.
EX: I'm your sister's ex-boyfriend's sister.

If the answer is no to all three, do we have something in common?

EX: Yes, I have a little boy who likes to be nekked all the time, too!
EX: Yes, I was in Phi Lamb.
EX: Yes, I have also been known to buy the same shirt from Banana Republic in two colors and immediately regret it when I don't like how they look after the wash. Dern, dern, triple dern!
EX: Yes, I wanted to be Barbara Walters, too, until I read her autobiography which was TMI.

I just thought it would be cool to know how we're connected. If our only connection is that you visit this blog every now and then, you're still totally welcome here. And no need to feel bad if you've never commented before. I have certain blogs that I comment on every time and others that I never do. And sometimes it just depends on whether I'm nursing the baby and can only type with one hand. You never know!

Hi Amanda, we actually just met briefly this month in a parking garage in the Woodlands. We didn't talk much except that I told you I'm a blogger and our babies are a month a part and I LOVE reading your blog. Your mom was so sweet to snap some pictures with me and my friends. It's really funny because everytime I'm out and about I always scan the crowds just thinking that I'd run into you or your mom (or an Astro) at the Galleria or the Zoo or some other Houston attraction.

Let me tell you, it was just such an honor to finally get to meet you and your mom in REAL life! You have both inspired and changed my life! Keep up the awesome blogging!

No, we haven't met but I love your mama and her Godly wisdom and teaching!! Linked to your blog from Big Mama's blog. Would love to hang with you and go shopping - he,he!! I'm a mama myself but in the next phase of mothering (10,8,6) I have a real heartbeat for mom's and raising Godly children in this world. I like to read how other mom's are doing. I wrote LPM about a branch ministry for mom's after the MOPS years ~ so think there is a need for that. So, you are blessed with wit and wisdom like your mama and sister and I like popping in here occassionally!! My mama did a mule ride in TN with one of your mama's good friends last year and is doing so again in Oct.!!!!

I met you in San Antonio at the LPL event. I was with my daughter Grace and I took a picture of the two of you together on Friday night before the event.

We also happened to be at Disney at the same time this year, although we did not run into each other there.

Of course, being a Siesta, a feel like I know your whole family. We have a few things in common. I hate to cook. Not that I can't do it, but get no joy out of it. And then like everyone else...I love your Mom. :o)

Bobbie said...

I had heard about you through all of your Mom's studies and then when you started the LPM blog I jumped on there and have loved every blog. You Moore women are wonderfully human!!

I did meet you in San Antonio last August, but you met MANY Siestas that weekend. The day after I returned to Seattle after the Fiesta we packed our car and started south for our retirement to Aggieland. My man & I both went to school here and love being back. So I guess being part of Christ's family, our Siesta family and our Aggie family, we have a lot in common!!! AND, I've raised a daughter (35) and a son, class of '98(32) and love and identify with almost every story you've shared! It's like reliving their lives through Jackson and Annabeth.

BTW, I promise I'm trying to find a picture to replace my flowers!!

we've never met, but i'm a texan, too! i was at baylor at the same time as sunni. she was in tri delt with my husband's cousin (all of us went to baylor). my husband, jeff, and i were in marriage counseling with lauren and tyler self. we also have a (terrible) golden who could be twins with beckham. just the other night he ate a WHOLE banana bread (made with ORGANIC bananas, i might add) while husband and i were out of the kitchen. brought back memories of beckham eating the gingerbread house. oh, and i delivered our 1st, emory, at baylor grapevine in march of 2008.

love your blog! thanks for being "real" for all of us moms.

No, we don't know each other. Although I would love to be a part of your Bunco group! Too bad I live in Illinois. :( I lived in Texas during my junior high years (when you weren't even born yet) and my parents still spend the winters down there.

I found your blog through thebigmamablog. Don't know Melanie either, just love your blogs! They make me smile, laugh and think.

Yes! I have a 3 1/2 year old nekked toddler...who, much to my chagrin, has recently become so fascinated with his (well, you know...).
I also attend Siesta Mama's Tuesday night bible studies, and I'm on the "scripture memory team".
Although we don't know each other personally, I feel like family :)
Reading your blog and the Living Proof blog is such a encouragement to me....you'll just never know how much.
I am a ex-smoker, and when I was desperately trying to quit, I would pop on the blogs when I was having an especially hard time (at one point, I even went all the way back to the oldest-of-older posts...just to have something uplifting to read).
So, see, you all are ministering to others when you don't even know it!
"Many, O Lord my God, are the wonders You have done.."
Ps. 40:5

We've never met, but I know who you are from doing your mom's Bible Studies. :) I also read the LPM blog, and a friend told me about your blog. I have a baby girl the same age as Annabeth (born 2/15), so I love reading about what Annabeth is doing. I'm in between your age and Melissa's, and I have a sister 3 years younger than me. My mom has always felt a connection with your mom because of that!

Thanks for sharing your blog with us.

Hi Amanda,
I know you through Leslie (Stewart) Peck (A&M, Phi Lamb)... but, I believe that we officially met while at Passion in Atlanta in January of 2007.

We've never met, but I do enjoy your blog. The only connection is that I live in the Atlnata metro area where Melissa and Colin live.

I can't remember now where I found your blog, but I linked to it because of the title. I've been reading (and commenting rarely...sorry) since you guys were in Irving.

My kiddos are just a little older than yours (my son is 6 and my daughter is 4), and I have another baby girl on the way. Love your take on motherhood! Thanks for sharing your lives with all of us.

I'm not sure if we've ever met, but we do have a mutual acquaintance...Brett Laxton. He was my youth pastor about 8 years ago, and still a family friend. Curt, Jerrell, and Kay were leaders at our D-Now's. How lucky was I to have such great leaders in the terrible teenage years of my life? We also went to the Houston Project a few times, so we might have seen each other in passing.

One of my childhood friends introduced me to your blog about 3 years ago(she also has the same connection). I am expecting my first baby in a few weeks, so I love reading about your experiences as a mother. I appreciate your honesty about your struggles and accomplishments in life and as a mother.

I only know you in wonderful blog world. I am a rare commenter but faithful reader. Our husbands both love Duke basketball. My children are 2.5 years apart with the girl first. However, she is full of spunk and the boy who came next is mild mannered and quiet. I enjoy reading about your life because it brings back sweet memories of my little ones. They are almost 12 and 9 now. It really does go by too fast!

We have never met, but I am best friends with Kelli whose house you went to to see Marla Taviano. I have a daughter just days older than Kelli's daughter, and we are expecting a little boy in November.

We don't know each other but I do enjoy your blog. The one thing we would most have in common is our love for Jesus! What better thing to have in common than that!

Melissa Terry said...

I found your blog through Lauren Chandler and was reading through a couple of the comments amazed by how many people didn't know you.

This common thread is actually something I have been pondering for a week or so. I'm just throwing this out there. There are so many of us young moms out there who are looking to be mentored and I think you should pray about starting a mentoring group. You sort of do that through your blog in a round about sort of way. I think it would be neat if you did it via the world wide web or something. I don't know, just my thought for the week :)

Bless you!

Jesus Chicky said...

We have not met however, I am a Siesta so I feel like I know you. I have been very encouraged through your blog.

I have been doing Beth's studies for a while and have read a lot of her books too.

You emailed me once about bible study.

Thanks for a fun question!

We met and visited briefly in San Antonio. You delighted my heart when you looked at my name tag, saw where I was from and asked me about the trip. I asked you a goofy question - if you had brought Jackson with you... You were gracious and kind and stylish (cute leggings!) and you were much taller than I expected. I am so blessed to be your sister in Christ.

I came across your blog from Kelly's Korner as you were preparing to have your daughter. I was pregnant with my daughter and I also have an almost 3 year old son. I love reading your stories about motherhood. My little girl is also an easy baby and her big brother was quite the opposite!

Kelli said...

We have met. You came to my house to meet sweet Marla and saw my kitchen a MESS. I hope you were too distracted by conversation and rain to notice that I was going to clean after visiting! :)

We do have a few mutual friends... I worked at camp with Michelle and I think your church friend/acquaintance Kristy is in my bunco group!

And back in the nursing days, I too typed a many of comments and post with one hand!

We have never met but I found your blog through Sunni's. My cousin Tim is married to Sunni's sister Tiffani. I also have a son and daughter. They are slightly older (6 & 4). They share a precious bond and love each other so much. When I read about Jackson and Annabeth it reminds me of my own kids.

Nope we've never met and I don't think there is any connection that I can think of...I do have a sister-in-law that lives in Houston and I visit her occassionally but that's about it :)
I do have a precious baby girl who is 8 months old...so I enjoy watching Annabeth grow up and learning more about being a mommy!

I don't think we've ever met. I graduated from A&M in 2005. I was in Phi Lamb while I was there, and I was also on the Discipleship Team for Breakaway. That was the year they were trying to find a new speaker when Gregg left and Curt came down to speak a few times, so it's possible that I met you then (if you came with him...I don't remember!).

Love your blog!

Leslie Lauren said...

My first time posting! I found your blog around the same time you visited Orlando and posted some pictures of your adventures. I've lurked occassionally and find you to be extremely hilarious :)

Do we know each other? If so, how?
- Well, no. I follow the LPM blog, but that's pretty much it :)

Maybe we don't really know each other, but have we ever met?
- No, but I'd love to one day!

Do we have a mutual friend or acquaintance?
- Does Jesus count?

If the answer is no to all three, do we have something in common?
- I get the feeling that you are a great shopper. I loooove to shop, and especially love bargains! Also, your sense of humor is right up my alley. My son is my favorite person to blog about; especially my conversations with him. Here's a glimpse of one from a few years ago, since my blog is private: "That reminded me of a prayer Corbin said several nights ago. We three were laying in the big bed just as it was getting dark out, and Corbin decided he wanted to tell satan that "he was not going to win." I told Corbin that we don't ever address him because he is evil and horrible, but that he could tell Jesus to pass along the message! So Corbin began the following prayer....

"Dear Jesus, I just wanted you to know that satan is NOT going to win! And, I just wanted to tell you that I love my mommy and daddy, and I love Star Wars and Darf Vader and the star troopers, and hey Jesus, did you know that I can wrestle foxes and snakes and wolves and liiions?..." The prayer went on to further elaborate on all of the things Corbin loves and can do, and ended with another affirmation of his love for Mark and I, and the final statement that began the entire monologue..."Jesus, please tell satan that he is NOT going to win. EVER. Amen." :)

Well, I wouldn't say we're BFF, but I would say we know eachoter a little bit. And yes, we have met before, and even been to dinner which was so fun! There's just nothin' like some good ole' Pappasito's. (And sharing fajitas with girls who've never had the divine pleasue of eating such glorious food.)

(And I saw Jen's comment about Chilli's one night after a "By the Tree" concert. That was forever ago! But since our moms went to bible study, we knew who you were. Or really, she told me who you were!)

Some mutual friends are Nancy M., Kim M., Shelly, Your sister, Abby, Lauren B., and at the moment my brain can't think of any more, although I am sure there are some.

Something in common? Well, I was in Phi Lamb, too! Which I loved and was the chaplain for one year. And now I know we've both had Monty's Revenge and it totally stinks. Both literally and figuratively. (Sorry, TMI!) We're both in ministry. (Although you're much farther ahead than me!) We both love Chinese Food and Mexican food, especially fajitas. And hey, we're both tall! :)

Seriously though, I love reading your blog. It is on my list of favorites. So real and relational! And, you're just as sweet and genuine in person, which is a huge plus. Plus, you make me excited to be a mommy one day because your kids are too darn precious. Thank you for sharing part of your life with us, Amanda! You are a mentor from afar for this 20 something.

Love ya girl!

We have a mutual friend, Melissa Schmidt, but I found you through a blogroll. I wanted to see what "Baby Bangs" meant. I wondered if it was what I thought it was, and it was! :) I thought you were pretty funny, so I kept coming back. It took awhile before I figured out you were BM's daughter. Then I was even more intrigued...

Hey, I usually never comment but I love your blog and most of all your honesty about parenthood.

Do we know each other? If so, how?
We've met several times but have not clue if you remember me, that sounds so odd to write! I'm class of 2000 and was in Phi Lamb and also go to HFBC.

Maybe we don't really know each other, but have we ever met?
Hmmm. I've definitely seen you at First but how do you really go up to someone and say..."I read your blog."

Do we have a mutual friend or acquaintance?
Yes...a few. Becky Davis is a good friend of mine from both college and now. Allison Wendler was my little sis in Kappa Delta after we both left Phi Lamb. I know several others from Phi Lamb

No to #1 & #2 (even though I feel like I do, but not in a freaky stalker kind of way). #3 - I'm an Aggie (class of '92), I love Jesus, and I have a son. Oh, and a sister that I love (but she's older). I'm sure we have more in common, but that's all that popped into my head. :)

Melanie said...

Just to warn you, I'm a rule follower, so here are the EXACT answers to your EXACT questions...

No, we do not know each other, although I feel like it since reading your blog here and your posts for LPM.

No, we have never met, and likely won't since I live in KY, unless you're going to be at the LPL in Memphis and no one else shows up :)

No, we do not have any mutual friends or acquaintances that I know of.

Yes, we have adorable children, we both sometimes get bent out of shape about things like undelivered canvas letters even though we SO know better, and we are part of the only-nursing-baby-poo-loving sisterhood.

Laura said...

We have something in common. My sweet baby Violet was born just a couple weeks before Annabeth, and I have a very attractive row of baby bangs coming in as well. Your blog makes me smile.

Nope we've never met but I found your blog on Lysa Terkeurst's blog after your picture appeared there and I thought I recognized you from the LPM blog pics (insert breath here) - wow, that was convoluted. I pop onto your blog because it's fun to read and your kids are so adorable. I feel so connected to your family because of how close God has brought my family through your mom's teaching. God bless you!

Hi, I'm Kelly, and...
We don't know each other. We do have an acquaintance in common - Marla Taviano, who I believe you met in person earlier this year? I haven't met her yet, but I found your blog through hers back when she was on Xanga. Thanks heartily, Marla!

As I mentioned the other day - my son Will is just a few days younger than Annabeth. He was born on 2/6. It trips me out that they're doing so many of the same things (veteran moms are probably rolling their eyes and moaning "DUH," but I'm ignoring them!). And yes... I also have a rockin' case of baby bangs now. So, so glamorous. :)

Do we know each other? If so, how?
--No, but I'd love to know you!

Maybe we don't really know each other, but have we ever met?
--Not in person, only by email. :)

Do we have a mutual friend or acquaintance?
--Not you and I, but some friends of ours from church know your mom and dad. He owns a hunting guide business (or something like that) and has hunted with your dad.

If the answer is no to all three, do we have something in common?
--We are both:
*Christians (my dad's in the ministry, so I grew up in the fish bowl)
*Aggies (I'm an ol' Ag now...class of 95),
*wives to manly men (i.e. love trucks and dogs),
*mommies to rambuncious boys and sweet girls (mine are 6, 4, 2, and 9mo)
*Beth Moore Bible study students (I've done two, live, at FBC),
*living in the Houston area
*bunko (bunco?) players
*adventurous enough to take our newborn/nursing babies to Disney World for the sake of the other children
*first-born/big sisters

There's probably more, but children are now crying and I must go! Hope we can meet soon!

As far as I know, we've never met, and therefore I don't know you in person.

I do love Texas (from history and reading--I've only ever landed at GHWB Intercont. once on my way to Florida...from Ohio. Gotta love airline logic). I'm an oldest. I think I'm approximately five years older than you. My favorite Aunt lives right down the road from Wheaton College, but I never saw you there when visiting your sister/for graduation/etc.

I enjoy reading your blog (have since '06 or '07 and I appreciate the ways in which you're honest about the lack of perfection in life. I find that Godly contentment is one of my biggest struggles in blogland and honesty about the way it really is goes a long way towards redirecting my eyes upwards instead of across the 'perfect internet'.

Thanks for writing and thanks for good questions. :) Happy Weekend Approaching!

We have never met in person although I had planned on meeting you at the Siesta Fiesta, but due to illness in our family, I was unable to attend. I have known about you and your sister though for several years through your mothers teachings and most recently through the LPM blog. I remember the first mention that I heard of you was in a tape of your mom speaking at Women of Faith and she was talking about teenagers being "globe-heads" thinking the world revolved around them. I laughed until my sides hurt. I have loved watching you mature into a Godly young woman, wife and mother. God truly blesseds me and so many others through your blog ministry.

2 - We have several mutual friends, Sophie, Melanie, several others from 1B, and I went skiing once with Amy Hodge, whom I think you know, and I have a very funny story about her when she was supposed to be set up with my husband's best friend Dave Stotts

3 - We have wild boys, dirty furniture, baby bangs, and I have loved your momma for a very very long time

-I also have a VERY spunky toddler. Hoping my next will be like Annabeth.

I don't know you - have never met you or anyone I think you might know. But we are connected by Aggieland. Both my daughters graduated from A&M so I am a proud Aggie mom. Alyssa was the class of'98 and was a Phi Lamb and went to Breakaway all the time. In fact she got me some Breakaway CD's that I just love. My youngest daughter, Ashley, was the class of '05 so I think you were right between them and probably never met either one. They both now live in Houston - Clear Lake area. Alyssa has a son born January 18 so he is a month older than your daughter. The day you went to visit Woman's Work in Rice Village was the day I flew to Houston because Alyssa went into the hospital. Since you recommended the place, I drove up there when Kaiden was two weeks old to buy a K'tan for Alyssa. So that's our only connection. I love reading your blog but don't usually comment. Gay

Do we know each other? No

Have we ever met? Nope

Do we have common friends/aquaintences? YES! I live near Sophie and we get dinner every now and then. I know that there are more (and a TON that I talk to online), but Sophie's probably the closest to you. :)

Been to a thousand Siesta things including San Antonio and Travis' taping in the ATL. Love my Siestas! <3 And I love you and your sweet family too, even though we probably won't ever meet on this side of Heaven (unless you want to come hang with us Bama girls)!

*I like to think we know each other but mostly from posting on Lifeway's Community site and through our blogs.
*I've met you twice. Once when you were a sweet teenager and I visited your mom's Sunday School class while I was on a business trip in Texas. You should have heard the telephone lady when I called information from San Antonio and asked for the number in Houston for First Baptist Church. She said, "Which one...we have 13?" I almost said never mind. But the first number she gave me was the RIGHT number. And I was the visitor from the most distant place that Sunday morning (Georgia). Your mom talked with me after class and I gave her a gift basket to thank her for the blessing her study on the Tabernacle was to our church ladies in Georgia! That's when she introduced me to you, Melissa and your daddy. Such a treat!
And I hugged you taking pictures at the Siesta Fiesta!
Mutual friend? Your mom and Georgia Jan.
Love your blog! It is so refreshing to read about mommyblessings.

Holy cow!! Lots of comments on this one......

No, we don't know each other, but we have met!

It was at the LPM Open House....I am one of the volunteers there. We were talking about which neighborhood you had just moved into here in Houston and I immediately morphed into "friend matchmaker" mode telling you about friends of mine that live there.......like you didn't grow up here or anything with all kinds of church and high school friends already in place. Geesh!!!

And, since you mentioned it, I was the one that scared you to death when you were trying to sneak into the bathroom and I was in there....door unlocked......classy, right? Wasn't at church, but embarrassing all the same!

Besides LPM people, the only friend I think we have in common is Joy C. God gave me a HUGE gift in giving Joy to me as a mentor. That woman is walking wisdom......she has prayed me through some tough stuff! In fact, I had lunch with her today.....we splurged on grits and shrimp at Oesie's Table. Yummmm!!

Very fun post....have a great day!

We've never met but I started reading your blog about two years ago. You drew me in with your love for Jesus and your funny tales of motherhood...I was living vicariously through you at the time but now I'm living and telling my own funny mommy stories! :) Your authenticity is so refreshing and something else that keeps me coming back.

We will probably never meet this side of Heaven...but oh how happy I would be if we did!

Nope, we don't know each other. I believe I first found your blog through Big Mama's. I have a 3 year old named Jackson as well. I really became addicted to your blog through your pregnancy with Annabeth because I was pregnant at the same time with my Ace. I loved reading and sympathizing with all the pregnancy/ adjusting to 2 kids stuff.

Are you a Phi Lambber too? I am from the IOTA chapter at Angelo State University. What a wonderful season that was. I also have a precious 5 month old baby girl, Sophia. Much love from West TX.

We have never met, but we do have lots in common. I am a stay at home mom of three boys, ages 10, 8, and 5. Though I am s nurse by "former" training, God has, by His grace, called me into full time ministry. When I read your posts, I honestly think our hearts are very similar and we share many core passions - longing to know and love Christ more with every passing day, striving to be a wife and mom that honors God, and also relish the honor it is to be a mom!

Love,

Okay, well...Nope, we've never met in person. I found you through my real life friend, Marla Taviano. Of course, I kinda have an idea of who your Momma is:) funny thing though, I didn't realize you were her daughter for the longest time...So, do we have somethin' in common? Well, we're both Mommas (I have 3 little girls), we both love Jesus, we both have incredible husbands...those are all pretty cool things I think! If we lived closer, I think we'd find even more in common:) Have a super day!

I don't really know you, but I do think I might have met you at A&M a time or two. I was in Phi Lamb and I know we have some friends in common. I love reading your blog and always recommend it to friends with little ones!

- No we don't know each other nor have we ever met.
- I don't think we have any mutual friends or acquaintances.
- We both have kids (I have 3 boys - 6yrs, 3yrs, & the youngest is a few weeks older than Annbeth), both grew up with parents in christian ministry (preacher's kid), and both currently have little "baby bangs" sprouting up to make for a nice hairstyle for the next few months.

Take Care,

This may be a repeat here...not sure...so forgive me if you've read this before:)

We've never met in person, or by email, or by comment, or anything actually...but I found you through my real life friend Marla Taviano, whom I think is pretty neat:)

I love reading about your family...my lack of brain cells (due to drinking way too much Diet Pepsi in college I think:) didn't allow me to make the connection about who your Momma was for a longgg time...but, now I get it...and I see the resemblance too:)

As for other things in common: We both are Mommas...I have 3 little girls, we both have really incredible husbands, and we both love Jesus...I think those are pretty neat commonalities to start with! I think if we lived closer, we'd find even more!

Have a great day...and enjoy reading all those comments!

*I now live in the Dallas area
*My baby boy (I have 4 others) turned 3 in June. I have laughed at your stories of potty training and such as I am walking through it for my last time with John ...big heavy sigh! :( It goes by so fast.
*I LOOVE being a Mom
*I am married to a guy who passionately loves the Lord too!
*I am so in love with Jesus :)

No, we don't know each other, but we did meet/chat for a second at the Siesta Fiesta in San Antonio. I was the last "questioner" at the Fiesta who has also worked with my folks (something we have in common) - not that you would remember me out of the many there! I am an aquaintance with Amber Burger (she came to our playgroup once or twice - I think one was at my house- until her son's school schedule conflicted - or maybe we scared her off!).

Common things? I have one sister although I'm the baby. I've worked with my folks as I said before. I have a son (just turned 4) and a daughter (she's a Feb. baby too - Valentine's Day to be exact but she is 2 years older than Annabeth) so I can relate to a lot of your stories. Baby #3 is due to arrive any day...

Thanks for sharing your life...

I can't remember how I found your blog, but I've enjoyed every single post. I read it regularly, but I don't know if I've ever commented before or not. I've only been to Texas once, and it was so long ago that it was probably before you were born. I don't have children, but I do laugh and cry over the stories and pictures of yours. I think the only thing we have in common is that I've done some of Beth's bible studies - but WOW, isn't that a fabulous thing?

Hi Amanda! You don't know me (except that I comment to your posts sometimes), and we have never met. I know of you by reading the LPM blog and your mom's Bible studies. I love reading your blog. We don't have much in common because I don't have a child, but I am married and I strive to love Jesus like you. I love reading your blog because your posts are so encouraging to me. I always thought that you and Melissa are way ahead of me and better off because of having a mother like your mom (I wasn't raised in a christian home). It encourages me to read about your daily life because I realize that you are real. You are striving to love Jesus and serve Him every day through your own personal struggles too. Its encouraging for me to know that even though you have a Godly mother, you face insecurities like me too. Reading your blog reminds me that all I need is Jesus Christ. Thank you Amanda, I look up to you as my big sis too!

Kind of late responding...been out of town!!

No, we have not actually met, although I was thrilled to be a part of the smaller, more intimate Siesta Fiesta group in San Antonio. :-)

Our connection goes waaayyyy back...actually as God has saved me from a pit dug from my own choices your mom has been huge in teaching me truth. But one of the reasons she was so effective was not only some similarities in our past, but as she would talk about you girls, I could so relate. You and Melissa share some similar personality traits as my two daughters...which are quite different from each other.

I also felt a strong connection to your Michael. As the director of special education for eight small districts, I could empathize with many of his struggles.

So, I love your mom and I love you girls, so...I lurk.

Hi Amanda,
So I don't know if you will remember me or not, but I served on the Servant Team for the Houston Project back in 2000, (you and Curtis actually picked me up from the airport) and then was an Intern a couple summers later (I can't remember the date). I have an 11 1/2 month old little girl and love reading your blog about being a Mom and hearing how your family is doing. Your mom has ministered to me in so many ways through her conferences and books. I actually met her the very first time at the Passion One Day event in Memphis, TN. I didn't know who she was at the time, but she prayed in our car as we were driving in and then later the next day spoke on stage. I was like "that's the lady who prayed in our car" and our BCM director was like that's Beth Moore haven't you heard of her. Thanks for sharing your blog-- I love reading it!!

I was Aggie class of 01. Lived in Dallas for 6 years. Now I live in Waco, which is where I grew up.

Love your blog because our kids are similar ages. I have 2 boys...Noah is almost 3 and Charlie is 9 months.

Also, I am a major coffee drinker in the morning! I am intrigued that you are into drinking tea with your breakfast. I'd love you to post on the "how-to's" of that. I can make iced tea (cause I'm from Texas) but hot tea? What kind do you buy? What do you put in it? Any tips or tricks to this? Interesting.

Thanks for writing and sharing your life :)

HOWDY from KANSAS! We have several connections, but have never officially met. First of all - our last name is Moore. When we lived in Houston we referred to y'all's family as our "Cousin Moores". ;) Before my husband and I got married we attended your mom's Sunday School class at Houston First Baptist. I went to her Bible study nights on Tuesdays. We got engaged and we were in the Newlywed Class with Mrs. Cindy and Ken. We were small group leaders in the class. Y'all got engaged after us and were also in the class - but in a different small group. Your friend Sunni is a dear friend of my sister (Kim Donkervoet) from Baylor. My sister married my husband's brother - yes it is legal. So now she is a Moore too. They also attended First Baptist, but moved to Tomball and attend a church closer to their home now. My husband, Brian, knew Jennifer Hamm (who works at Living Proof) and her husband very well from A&M. Yes - we are Aggies too! Y'all now go to our old Sunday School class - the Tates were our directors. We moved from Houston to San Antonio to Philadelphia and now live in Wichit KS due to job transfers for Brian. We now have 4 children with the oldest being 5. We have many mutual friends which is so funny to me that we have never met. So - I feel like I know you, and we refer to y'all as our cousins. It is great keeping up with you through your blog. Our blog is:

What a fun post! I so enjoyed reading all your comments. I would do this on my own blog, except the four (or 2) people who read it would think I'd lost my mind.

I have never met you, although I would love to. I stumpled onto your blog because I get the Proverbs 31 Ministries devotional and came to adore Lysa TerKeurst. One day while reading her blog I saw your picture and I immediately recognized you from the LPM blog that I also adore (having done about 5 of your mom's studies).

Our things in common are our kids. Although mine are older (9&5), I can completely relate to every stage yours are going through. It brings back memories and makes me smile. I think you are an awesome Mom and I love what you wrote about a routine being elastic. So many mom's these days are so rigid.

I also have quoted you saying "if you are going to show me your butt, then do me the courtesy of showing me your face." I am paraphrasing, but LOVED that one.

We will soon also have in common Latte walls. I just need to find a painter. Someone said recession and the painters became insanely busy around here.

I hope I get to meet you--or at least see you-in Houston in January. Your whole family is just precious.

Blessings,

Wow Amanda. I read this Wednesday, when you had about six comments, and bookmarked it for a future date. (Read: A date when I didn't have a whining baby in my lap, trying to type her own reply.)

And now ... look at all your friends!

For the record, we've never met. Although my head (or a picture of it) was at the siesta Fiesta last year, courtesy of Missy @ It's Almost Naptime. She carried it around all weekend so I could "attend" the event in an out-of-body sort of way. (Teyla was only 7 months at the time, so I was banned from travel.) You can actually see me near your Mom's foot in one of the group pictures. Missy was hoping to get a picture taken of "me" with you, but Annie (from Annie Blogs) left me in a restaurant before they could make that happen.

And I guess that answers the second question -- I know Missy. And you know Missy. Ergo, one degree of separation.

We met at Lisa and Steve Cauble's, back in 2004 or so, when you and Curt first moved to DFW--do you remember?? For some reason, I don't remember much about it, except that Lisa went all out and had some type of Tex-Mex meal complete with cowboy boots on the table!! I think I was pregnant? (Why on earth am I not remembering this very clearly?) But I DO remember thinking you were so sweet and quiet, and that Pace and I told a story about something that happened to us when we were newlyweds serving at Centrifuge, and later on I was totally horrified that you guys thought we were crazy. No wonder I don't remember the rest of the evening; clearly I've blacked it out!

But I "found" your blog a couple years later, when you first started blogging, and Sophie emailed me to tell me that you had a blog--and I've always wondered if you knew that we'd met back in 2004? And I've been reading your blog ever since :)

have enjoyed your honest, christian, motherhood tales ever since. admire you for keeping everything real...i.e. smelling breast poop! That was hilarious. Have a darling husband and 3 kiddos of my own, and love every minute of breathing in daily life moments with them!

Hi Amanda! No to the first three. I've done your Mom's studies and fell in love with all of you through the stories she tells. And wouldn't you know you have the same openess on your blog. I love reading. God's strength really shows through His Spirit in your weaknesses. Thanks for your honesty, your unashamed love for your sweet kiddos and hubby and your encouragement in the faith.

I have four boys 7, 5, 3 and 4 months. Your blog was a gift from God during my morning sickness last fall when I could check on you and see how you were doing and know that I was only about six weeks behind you. And you keep me encouraged to take pictures and document milestones. Thank you sweet friend.

'Remember when you used to wear plastic shorts with bikers underneath? And baggy tank tops? In neon colors?' I didn't get the privilege of going to camp with you, but I did wear the same clothes when I went to Camp Minnetonka with my church. :)

Thank you so much for sharing your life with me. We may not know each other, but I am so blessed by your blog. You are an amazing woman. You have such a beautiful family.

I am in the Esther Bible Study with 'our' First Irving friends, and am thoroughly enjoying my 1st study with your Momma. I absolutely love your family. :) Thanks for keeping it real, ladies! :)

Hope you have a great weekend!

Hmmm...let's see. We met in Kindegarten. And we've been friends ever since (at least off and on!). BtW, answer to your question about the locker room. It did NOT stink. I was pleasantly suprised. they may have unloaded a 1/2 dozen cans of oust in there right before we arrived, but it smelled pleasant. even the area with the urinals.

I just love reading about your sweet heart for Jesus. AND...I REALLY wish God had given me your wit and humor...at least he gave it to my hubby ;)

Nope, we don't know each other and we've never met. But I was a year older than your sister and a Chi O at Baylor with her...didn't know her well though. I think I found y'all through Kelly's Korner, but maybe Star Smith's?

We've had dinner together (maybe twice?...hard to remember) with the blogging crew up here in Dallas. It was with Lauren C., Angie Iles, Simri Davis, etc!

Thanks for sharing your life and heart through your blog!

So I'm a little late in posting. ; ) We didn't really "meet" per se, but we did exchange hand touches via a gift certificate to a Houston pizza parlor back during the Beloved Disciple study because you pulled my ticket number for ladies who had carpooled to Bible study on Tuesdays! lol! I also posted a pic of your mom and I from the "wedding feast" of that study on my blog way back when I first started blogging and you commented then. I'm in North TX now, not Houston....just a wee bit north of your last church. Hubby is a children's min. so I love keeping up with other wives married to ministers. It's a unique bond. Thanks for sharing your heart and being real in cyber space. Blessings!

I met you at my brother's wedding, him and my sister-in-law (josh stephens and gilda alvaranga)were in your class at FBC Irving two years ago. They always talked about how much they loved the class and gilda would tell me about how much fun the girls would have. I was telling her one day about my bible study I was doing and how the lady (beth moore) was telling the story of how she found out she was going to be a grandma. The whole "praise dancing with granny banners" and all, the story was so cute it made me cry actually, and then Gilda said, "hey guess who my teacher is...Amanda Jones...OMG! I screamed!!!! Anyway, at the wedding you and I were introduced at the cake table as I was serving and I want to apoligize, I stuttered and stumbled and probably said, "I love your mother", which I do, but what I wanted to say was, thank you for being a wonderful influence and leader to my baby brother and his precious wife. I'm glad they have put Christ first in their lives and marriage,it makes my heart swell!!! You and Curtis had a hand in their walk and I am truely greatful to you for that, and having done all of your mom's bible studies makes me feel as though I know you. Gilda gave me your blog address and I haven't stopped reading it since. It's great entertainment.
thank you again and it was nice to have met you, after hearing so much about you!

Oh, sorry I missed this yesterday. We recently moved from Seattle to the Bay Area and things have been crazy.
No, we've never met in person. Yes, we have mutual friends. I went to college with CM & Faye Habermehl at HPU. (graduated 98 but spent my junior & senior year at A&M--transferred back to HPU just to graduate.) They were seniors my 1st semester there. CM also helped out with the youth at FBC Brenham, where I went to church. I also used to live in Houston (we moved to Brenham when I was 15). I grew up in JV so it is fund to recognize some of the things/landmarks you talk about--especially since I'm not in the area anymore. I also went to FBC Houston from birth till about age 4 and my Dad & stepmom continued to go there until about 10 years ago. Dottie, who prayed over your kids sounds very familiar to me as well but I'm not sure why. Well, I'm sure you weren't asking for my whole life story..sorry.
Hope you guys are having a great summer!

I'm always afraid to comment because I've never met you and here I am reading your blog:) but I thought this was a great idea! Last year when I was new to the blogger world, my friend who went to high school with you, passed on your blog to me. And I find you really funny and often with a lot of wisdom...so I stayed!

We breathed the same smoggy air when you and your mom came to Santa MOnica, Calif together some years back. I live about 25 miles away from Santa Monica. That's how we're connected.

Do we know each other? If so, how?

No- I have only met your mom in Woodstock in Jan.

Maybe we don't really know each other, but have we ever met?

No, I hope to one day. The journey we are taking right now is very similar and I am sure that we would have plenty to talk about.

Do we have a mutual friend or acquaintance?

Again...nope. i talk with your sis and Sunni occasionally but again it is only through the world of the internet.

If the answer is no to all three, do we have something in common?

YES!!! I have been married for almost 7 years. I am 29. I have three kids. I am a stay at home mom. My middle son is exactly the same age as Jackson and my baby was born just a few months before Annabeth. I am an older sister and I have the most amazing mom-she just went through a traumatic experience with me and with the Holy spirit I saw her change the situation right before my eyes-LOVE HER!! So...i enjoy reading and of course i found you because of your mom but now I have grown to love you and your sweet family!!

We've never met, Amanda. I think we both have a love for shopping and eating out (although I don't get to partake as often as I'd like - you need money to do that! HA HA) And I think we both are passionate about faith and family. I adore being a mom.

We don't know each other, but looking through your older posts(i.e. when Jackson was a baby) I saw a pic of a girl I go to church with @ FBNO. Actually, I saw her name on your blog roll also and thought, "There just can't be 2 Cimbrey's." Anyway, I've greatly enjoyed reading your blog. I have an 18 month old little girl, Hadley, & trust me it gets so much more fun & girly as each day passes. Maybe one day I'll be a little boy mommy too.

I love this idea:
1. We know "of" each other through the wonderful world of the LPM Blog, but I feel as if I know you through your tender heart and this blog of your heart!
2. I met you briefly for a moment last year at the Siesta Fiesta in San Antonio and told you how much we love the LPM Blog and how real the community of women there was/is. You seemed genuinely delighted and I know there you were as sweet as a Georgia Peach. :)
3. I was so blessed and tickled to stay with your Mom and sister at the Governor's Mansion (GA) this past January the weekend we attended Travis's live concert at FBC Woodstock. I adore Melissa so much, and your Mom has done more to encourage me in my walk with Christ than anyone on the planet.
4. We are both minister's wives. (I wanted to add this even though my answer wasn't "no," to all 3 above.)

Blessings sweet girl,
Mrs. Jan

I miss you!

We have never met. I found your blog through another blog. At the time I didn't know you were Beth's daughter. I read the LP blog as well but it took me a while to connect the dots. The name of your blog was cute and so true. At the time I had just had my second child and the baby bangs were in full force :) Now my third is almost 1 year and the baby bangs are still in force. With 3 kids in 4 years I'm not sure they have ever fully left :)

I so enjoy your blog, your wit and your wisdom. Thanks for letting us read and know that we are not alone :)

We aren't friends, but I have met you on a few occasions. I introduced myself and chatted with you after ReLit that Curtis taught in the Spring. I also have sat almost right next to you at MetroLive.
We have quite a few people in common though... Jerrell was my Sunday School teacher and I went to Cuba with he and Kay. I also know most of the rest of your crazy crew (Christine, et al), and Evangeline and I have become friends though Darrell going to Cuba with me in March. Oh, and forever ago you commented on my blog. :) Love to read about your kids and fam! I totally would babysit for you, except I'm moving to Egypt in 15 days!

This is such a cute idea! I am a little late but thought I would answer anyway! : )

We don't know each other but I feel like I know you because of all your Mom's stories and reading your blog!

We did meet in San Antonio and you were so gracious to all of us! I think I said something geek like "Do you feel like Paris Hilton?" because everyone was lined up to take their picture with you... then when you Mom started her teaching about heiresses and used Paris as an example... I was even more mortified! LOL : )

I am so much older doubt we have any mutual friends... I do have four kids so we have kids in common! William 17, Lizzy almost 16, Thomas 14 1/2 and Mary Harbin 10! So if you ever need any advice I have probably been there! : )

Anything else in common... hmmm my Dad was an Episcopal Bishop (conservative) so in some small way (very small way) compared to you I know what it was like to grow up in the ministry... I think the coolest thing was the love I felt from all the surrounding churches in my Dad's diocese from people who didn't really even know me... I hope you feel that same love from all of us in this blog community!

Have a blessed day! Emmy : )

We have never met and have no mutual friends..but we have a few things in common :). I love my husband, kids (I have 5),mom (my daddy is in heaen now), and siblings (I have 4) like crazy and am so thankful for them. I have a 3 year old son who I think might have as much energy as you claim that Jackson has! I also enjoy tea. We both grew up in the church (although mine was in NC :). And the biggest thing we might have in common? We both believe in the "power bows" for our baby girls :). My baby girl is nine months and is rarely without a bow. My older daughter (who is 7) & I like to say, "Bald babies have to accessorize!"

1. Sort of. We "met" as I was the contact person for my group going to the Siesta Fiesta and we had email contact a few times
2. Yes, we met at the actual Siesta Fiesta. One of my group said something and you said "oh, you are the Ila's from Weatherford, TX"
3. Not that I am aware of unless the fact that I "feel" like your mom is my best friend. Ha!

Good to see you last night. I am catching up on some blog reading today, and I thought it was funny timing (and fun) to see this post today. :-)

I wouldn’t say we really know each other, but we have met twice now – once at the Nord with NancyMon and once at bunko. I feel like I know you better than I actually do because I’ve been reading your blog for at least a year, maybe more (I honestly don’t remember how I ever found it in the first place – most likely a link from someone else’s blog). I actually stopped reading it once because I felt like I was being a blog-stalker, but then a few weeks later I got curious and subscribed again because I like your stories. We have several mutual friends/acquaintances (mostly friends to you, acquaintances to me), most of whom were at bunko last night. We also grew up in the same neighborhood (I think one of my best friends in HS lived on your street) and went to the same high school, although I graduated a few years before you. And of course we both attend HFBC.

Nope, I have never met you in person or seen you except from a distance at a LPL or Deeper Still event, I don't remember which one!:) I don't think we have any mutual friends or acquaintances. We have the fact that we are both His child and we are both in our twenties in common. You've prayed for me before i think. That's mutual:)

Many blessings to you Little Momma:)

I was in the middle of a move and I read this post on my phone when you wrote it, but I hated to be rude and not respond when you directly asked us questions!

We do not know each other.

We've never met.

I'm not sure if we have a mutual friend or acquaintance. Do you know Kevin Bacon?

We may have more than this in common, but we're both moms. My boys are 8 and 5 and my daughter is 5.

I've read the LPM blog for quite some time now and I think I saw a link to your personal blog on Kelly from Kelly's Korner (We went to the same college. I was a charter member of the social club she was in and we've "met" through that.)

My kids are a little older than yours and reading your blog reminds me to enjoy this stage of motherhood because it passes so quickly. It reminds me that the eight-year-old with an attitude this morning was just a curly headed baby in my arms just five minutes ago. It slows me down and helps me to be in this minute.

Hey Amanda! No, I don't personally know you, but I do love reading your blog. and hearing your funny stories. I was roommates with Sunni at Baylor and she told me great things about you. My husband and I used to attend HFBC, but since moving to NWest Houston, we began attending Champion Forest. I have done many of the Tuesday night studys and have loved every one of them! Last year after delivering my newborn, the "baby bangs" really started coming into my hairline and I always loved that your blog was named that. We love The Office too. Your humor keeps me laughing and I love following your blog. Thanks for your genuine heart and authenticity. Blessings to you, Kim

I decided I had to come back to this and take minute to comment. It's fun!

We have a few mutual friends. My husband and I went to SBU and Shane (my hubs) lived with Jerrell Altic. So I met Kay a few times before they were married. They also came to Spfld to speak at our DNow when Shane was on staff at Second Baptist there. I was reading your blog one night and Shane looked over and said, "Is that Curt?" I guess they knew each other back in the day. Who knew? I'm also friends with Amber Burger, who it appears you know as well. Is she not a blast?

Now for the random...I also lived in Abilene for a couple years in high school and am quite certain that your friend Sunni was a choir super-star at Cooper High School. Is that right? She would probably never remember me. My parents are missionaries and we were only there freshman and sophomore year.

It's fun to make connections. I bet you've enjoyed reading through all these. Thanks for sharing life and the Lord!

I'm a little late, but hey, I have three under 5!

I am a fellow Aggie (though older than you), and we do have a mutual friend in K. Breed. I stayed in CS after school working in ministry, thus how I know her.

And honestly, I first "knew" your mom through her Bible studies, back when only folks in Houston knew who she was!

Obviously my blog reading is subject to extra time in the midst of child rearing. Fun post for you though, wish I had time to read how folks are connected to you!

Blessings....
