Birthday Week is Here

The birthday week is here. Annabeth is turning one on Wednesday. Can you believe it? My memories of sitting on this couch and feeling her move around in my tummy are still so fresh. All weekend I've been playing the "What was I doing one year ago?" game. (One year ago VVPG was at Monster Jam because of her very great love for her son.)

I was a bad blogger last week and I need a little warm up post to get ready for this one. So all I know to do right now is a weekend recap.

Friday:
We had dinner with a really neat couple from our church, My-An and Kevin. Our kids are very close in age and they played great together. I found out My-An potty trained each of her three kids before age two. I'm so inspired! Maybe I'll get brave and try that with Annabeth. Kevin and I realized we had gone to high school together. Curtis was then treated to seeing his wife's ninth grade yearbook picture.

Saturday:
Annabeth slept late, so I didn't wake up until 8:20. PTL! If you had told me 10 years ago that one day 8:20 would be "sleeping late," I might not have had kids. They're so worth it though. I woke up to the smell of something cooking and it was my hubby making pancakes! To make a great morning even greater, Mom and I did a little birthday shopping with Annabeth. It started with lunch at Ruggles Cafe, where Annabeth got her own kids meal for the first time. We went to Fleet Feet and Mom got some new walking shoes and I got a pedometer. I can't wait to use it. I didn't run one time last week, so I need to get my rear out of the bed tomorrow and hit the road. AB was having a mini language explosion on Saturday. She started saying "uh oh" and also mimicked me saying "bless you" after she sneezed. Then, to top it all off, as we were checking out at this cute kids boutique I love, she started saying something else. It took us a while to figure it out, but we decided she was trying to say "love you!" I'm sure you can imagine how excited we were. I think she was thanking Bibby for her new birthday frocks. Later we all had dinner at a neighborhood cafe and then Mom took Jackson home for the night. He loved getting to do that.

Sunday:
We had church this morning as usual. It was so great. I really missed my boy and couldn't wait to see him. This afternoon I went to a bridal shower for Heather Sproule. Her mama, AKA Mama Sproule, has worked in the youth ministry at our church for years and years and years. She's an awesome lady. It was fun to get together and love on the Sproule girls. It's so weird to be past the bridal shower stage of life and onto baby showers. Our newlywed years seem like they were in a different lifetime. This evening my mom came over and we went for walk in my neighborhood. It was chilly but so pretty outside.

Before I sign off, please celebrate with me that I still have not had one french fry in 2010. It was hard when we went to James Coney Island today but I prevailed. Thus far the Lord has helped me!

Ok...just seems like yesterday that you were talking and showing up pix from the Monster Truck Jam thingy.
Where in the world does the time go?

Glad you had a good weekend. I'll be getting my bootay on the treadmill this week all because I had french fries today. Shoot.

Happy birthday week. You are a fabulous momma and i'm saying a prayer over that baby girl tonight. May God grow her in wisdom and a love for Him that is simply beautiful.

Hugs!

NOT ONE FRENCH FRY?! Congrats, girl. It is the Lord's strength, don't you know it! It would be for me, that's for sure!

Have fun planning Annabeth's birthday! I know it will be super special.

"Thus far, the Lord has helped me!" Wow! I've used that phrase in so many contexts since I finished the "Believing God" study...but you inspire me! I think I'm gonna go have it put on some sort of cute sign to hang on my fridge. :)

By the way, just something to add to your prayer list...my cousin is on staff AND in grad school @ Baylor in Waco (and her hubs is working on his doctorate). She's in the throes of all things grad school, and her baby boy is being admitted to the hospital today...on his second birthday. www.gilhouserock.blogspot.com Please join me in praying for them.

Wow! Cant believe your little muffin is turning one! My "baby" will turn 4 in June and I can barely believe it. I tried showing him how I used to rock him as a baby the other day and could barely fit him in my lap. OH how it hurt my heart!

So girl...set up your Ebenezer stone!!! Congrats on the french fries. That is very impressive. I should totally do that with cookies. :)

Have a great week celebrating Annabeth!

I don't know if I've ever told you this, but I think it's very neat that our Noah shares a birthday with your Annabeth and I share a birthday with Jackson. Fun! Noah will be 12 and I will be 39 (I accidentally typed 29!).

Great about the french fries--is it for the whole year? I've given up sugar and have lost 20 pounds so far.

Yes, Amanda, I had already been thinking about you, because. . .I will always remember Anna Beth's birthday. . .my daughter will turn 20 on Wednesday!
I am sad, because she didn't get to make it home this past weekend, as planned, because of the weather. This will be the 2nd year for us to not be with her on her birthday, because she is at college.
We had a lot of fun with the 1st birthday parties and always celebrating birthdays.
Have a great week!
I wanted to talk to you last weekend, but you were busy talking to others.

I am totally feeling you on the french fry thing. If I had to choose one food to live off of it would be fries. Every year I give them up for lent. I have cut back to once a week (the waistline was getting somewhat out of control)!

Love your blog!

Such an exciting week!! I'm being induced on the 9th if baby doesn't come sooner, so I'm *exactly* in that VVPG stage thinking of all these "lasts" ~ trying to enjoy this sweet one's movement these last days. Mostly, I cannot wait to get my body back, although that doesn't really happen during nursing, does it?! =)

Last night, I slept *really* well thanks to some Tylenol PM. I know those days will be behind me for a while...and I look forward to the month when I get to sleep back "in" to 8:20. AMEN =D Babies are totally worth it, but OH how hard it can be sometimes!!

Celebrating with you and AB ~ may it be a sweet time rejoicing over her!

love,
rachel

So fun...I shared about your french fry resolution this morning when I spoke at MOPS (didn't use your name).
I was talking about how having the best of intentions does not equal being intentional. (in other words...I had a french fry or 4)
I'm back on track, though : )

Hey Amanda, Happy birthday to miss Anna-Beth!
I am happy to hear that AB slept in for you the next day! It's always nice to stay a little longer in bed on Saturday mornings. We had a great time with your family.

Sorry. Mouse in the house so I had to GO! All the girls were screaming. We just moved to the country to a house surrounded by 30 acres of woods. Who knew there'd be mice. No worries b/c my 12 yr old son shot it with his bb gun that he had gotten for Christmas. BLESS that boy!

Anyway, Happy Birthday to little Miss Annabeth. And try to bless blogging world with another family photo. I miss her in the photo you have up. When you can, of course. I know how HARD family photos can be. But afterwards they're always a huge blessing.

Thanks for all you do!

I had NEVER even heard about blogs until a little over a year ago...I know..I know...anyway where was I....I somehow got on one accidentally and I was hooked....one led to another and I soon had to put limits on my time :( Then I started my own... anyway yours was one that I found quite by accident just a few months before you delivered. It does seem like yesterday.

Kara Akins said...

I may just be paranoid but I want to make sure asking for a family pic didn't hurt your feelings. I thought at first I may have come across as harsh so I tried to lighten it up but it still may come across as too much. Instead of worry I thought I could just apologize. I was on my phone when I made the comment and you never know how a comment can come across.
Thanks

Hey Little Momma I was catching up on your posts:) I pray that the Lord does do the impossible thing with Debra's adoption!...I was thinking that Annabeths bday was close too:) Our kiddles are almost a year apart exactly in age, i think:) I understand about the facebook thing, you really don't know a person fully unless you can meet them face to face. I don't blame you about the limiting your facebook friends thing. You all need that friend base apart from just being associated with your momma cause people love her so much:) Don't feel ill about that decision. I'm just a blog and e-mail only type of girl myself. Anyway, happiest bday to Annabeth!:)

Blessings, ((HUGS)), love in HIM,

Ok, so I haven't been around in forever, but I just had to ask about the french fries! Are you giving these up as a carb thing?? So went my sister who has balanced her diet and looks great, and I know I should follow suit--but we ARE talking about french fries here. French fries. One of my absolute faves! Oh how He must really be helping you! Meanwhile, do stop by and tell me your bit on this story, or please drop me a quick email. We carb fighting wannabes must stick together... ha!
