Happy Anniversary to Us

Curt and I are celebrating our 6th wedding anniversary this weekend (along with Father's Day and my mom's birthday on Monday). I can't believe it was a year ago that we were living it up at El Dorado Royale in Mexico. This year is a little - well, a lot - less eventful, but we are just as blessed. The last 12 months have been very full. Last summer we ended the Saturday service at First Irving. Afterward we dove back in to college ministry at full speed and had a great fall with our students. We took a Thanksgiving trip to Jackson Hole. The Lord opened the door for Curt to come on staff with LPM. We celebrated Christmas with Curt's family in Missouri. We married off my sister. Curt took his last trip to Honduras for the foreseeable future. We said goodbye to a church family and incredible friends that have impacted our lives forever and planted our lives back in Houston, Texas. Curtis bought me my dream house that I'm still pinching myself over. I hope I never stop. We bought some grown up furniture. We rejoined the church where I grew up and where Curt worked for 2 years. We reconnected with lots of very dear friends from our newlywed years and me with some girlfriends from high school. After being church staff members for our whole marriage, we got to find out what it's like to be a visitor again. We joined a Sunday school class that we weren't leading. And we love it. We've put ourselves out there and made some new friends. We've fought and triumphed over some new work dynamics between us. We've watched our baby become a little boy. For the past three months we've had regular date nights with free babysitting. Give Him praise, people! Tonight will be the ultimate date night/grandparent babysitting extravaganza. Jackson is spending the night at my mom and dad's so we can SLEEP IN. A moment of silence, please. I am so pumped. I'm praying that my body clock doesn't wake me up at 7:20. Tonight we are having dinner at some cool place downtown. I hope they have good dessert. I won't expect the ricotta strawberry bombe. That wouldn't be fair. Later, peeps.

Amanda! I'm so excited for you! My anniversary is the 16th (#7 for us!) and I can't believe that time has gone so quickly. Hope you and Curtis have one heck of a weekend. You all deserve it! (and what's with your family and having weddings right next to birthdays?! Your anniversary and your mom's bday...Melissa's anniversary and Jackson's bday...interesting...) ;-)

Congratulations to you and Curtis! Hope you have an awesome date night and celebration! And if your body clock wakes you up at 7:20 tomorrow, do my favorite pre-kiddos Saturday morning ritual--the breakfast sandwich. Wake up, have a little breakfast, may be read the paper a bit and head back to bed. A little breakfast sandwiched between sweet glorious sleep! God is so good!

Aww, Happy Anniversary y'all! Enjoy your time together!

I remember about 20 (almost exactly) years ago, going to a prom in Katy and eating at a fancy restaurant in Houston called the Rivoli. There were no prices on the menu--and it scared me to death! I think I may have ordered a pretty expensive item, too...and what fork do I use and what is that little bowl of water for and what is the sorbet for?? 17 doesn't know those kinds of things, usually.

May you enjoy every little thing about your time together--down to the smell of some honeysuckle as you walk past. And may God say, "Let there be sleep!" And it was good.

Love,
holly

Happy Anniversary. Free Grandparent babysitting rocks my socks off! Have fun!

I got your hubby's book in the mail. Quite impressive with the shipment, I wasn't expecting it so soon. It looks great, I could read it cover to cover but 1.)it's for guys, not me 2.)hubs would see his (used) fathers day gift.

Two words: Tylenol PM. Whenever I have the chance to sleep in, my body clock doesn't cooperate, so I give it a little "help."

Happy Anniversary, Amanda! (and Curtis!)

We'll celebrate our sixth anniversary in August and also have a two year old boy, so we're in similar seasons of life.

I can't imagine any scenario better than living in the same town as my parents. I'm drooling over the thought of frequent date nights with babysitting. And SLEEPING IN!? The ultimate luxury!

Hope your day is very special!

Kelly @ Love Well said...

I'm sorry. Did you say you get to SLEEP IN tomorrow?!?

Sigh.

Color me jealous.

But praise God for your sweet and growing relationship, Amanda. A healthy, vibrant marriage is such a reflection of His glory.

I can't believe it was a year ago that you went to Mexico. Is it possible?

Congratulations... Grandparent babysitting is wonderful for all party's involved: memories that will cherished forever.
Sleeping in sounds wonderful but that's not likely anytime soon but... praise Jesus... Sophia (almost 3 months) slept through the night last night. Granted VBS was calling my name until 3 am so I didn't enjoy really, but hopefully it's a trend! Enjoy your dinner & dessert... Happy Anniversary.

Congratulations on everything! What a wonderful year :-)

My darling husband has taken the kids away for four days to go fishing on the other side of the state. I get to paint in peace! I was just stressing out about trying to arrange something so everyone would be happy and then it hit me, "Oh! I'm alone!" Woo hoo!!!!

Praying for many more overflowing years ahead for you.

Happy Anniversary! In the Catholic Church, matrimony has the official rank as a sacrament - "an outward sign instituted by Christ to give grace." So, by your faithful love of one another - may you and Curt continue to be a sign of grace to each other and our world.

Blessings to you and your lovely family,

Happy Anniversary!

I had to laugh at the "grown up" furniture. After being married almost 17 years, we just got some grown up furniture for our living room--and now it's actually being lived in!

I bet that after the week your parents have had, that little boy is just what they need! I'm sure he will wear them out and they will love every minute of it. Grandparents are priceless.

It's almost 10 in the morning here in GA and I sure hope you are still sleeping!!!

Happy Anniversary to you and Curtis! I can't believe it was a year ago you went to Mexico either! I think that was about the time I started reading your blog - or a few months later - it has flown by. Hope you had a great date night! We recently moved to my husband's hometown and his mom is the most enthusiatic babysitter (she calls us!) so I know you must be enjoying that - not to mention your parents!

wanted to tell you, too, that tomorrow is the free train ride at zube park. email me if you have any questions, but i think we're going to go around 9:00 am to beat the crowds.
