Yesterday I was sitting on the couch in my living room and I knew my son had something odd going on in the breakfast area. I couldn't see it, but I just knew.
Mommy, I made a picture!
I get up from the couch to see what he's so excited about.
Jackson is hopping up and down in an expression of glee and merriment.
I see that he has used his spit like finger paint and made a lovely little design on our glass kitchen table.
Jackson stood before his masterpiece and presented it to me with outstretched arms.
Mommy! I made this picture for YOU!
Saliva art: what I get for not letting my kid use markers.

That's really funny!
Oh my word! That may be priceless in boy world!
Certainly there must be a picture of this creative masterpiece?
Markers are friends, but spit is just so much better. No one even knows if if he gets spit all over himself and his clothes, right?
ingenious! my boys usually practice spit art on the windows - but the table is a much more prominent place for such creativity! :0)
Did you get a picture??? We need a picture! ;)
How funny!
Oh, Amanda! You should totally take a picture and hang it on the fridge!!! Markers scare me, too.
Oh my! Please tell me you took a picture! That is creativity at its best!
This title made me smile but then I read the rest of your post...oh my! I hope you took a picture.
So the real question is: Is his art still there?
Two words: Color Wonder! :)
Necessity is the mother of invention.
way to put Office quotes to good use! i like that!
I will take spit any day over what I once found my man child "painting" the wall in his room with. Enough said:)
After three boys of my own...things like this no longer surprise me. Boys will be Boys!!
I too think we need a picture. ;o)
You did take a picture, right?!
That is so cute.
At least it wasn't marker spit, a marker point bitten off. Sage has done that, except he didn't use it to color with, just bit it.
No one caught the Office reference in the title?!?!? That alone makes the already funny story even more funny!
Stay with the spit- markers are ALWAYS a bad idea- I spent the better part of the morning trying to get the city my eight year old drew on our sidewalk with Sharpie. Oh- and that was after she cut her hair at school during art. We've had ourselves a week with some school supplies.
Sweet moments...cherish them.
Then...go get the boy some "crayola Color Wonder!"
It's great and NO MESS!!
Love the office reference in the title.
I thought the title sounded a little "Office-ish"!!! Funny!
Have you tried Aquadoodle? I just discovered them a few weeks ago when playing with my neices and nephew. It is a "marker" with just water. You get special paper or a special mat and you can color and draw with it. NO MESS!
I agree with the others.....we need a picture!
That is too funny. Jackson is quite creative!
Wonder what he did when you needed to get out the windex?!!
I have three boys and this is a new one for me! Little boys will certainly keep us on our toes... Never a dull moment!
Love,
Jennifer
How long does this masterpiece get to hang around before a new canvas replaces it?
Love it! I'm such a sucker for when they do it for mommy! But I'll take saliva over markers any day.:)
Love it! I thought I would get brave and let Caroline use finger paints the other day. It was messy. Messy. Messy. And there was a little bit of paint consumed. Not a good idea. :)
Too cute!
Adrienne
That is hilarious! What a little goofball. :)
How creative...perhaps you have a future famous modern artist on your hands!
I'm with Rhonda- spit is a much better medium than that alternative.
How creative, Jackson! :)
It's easier to clean up, though!! And just as fun for a 3 year old!!
Ummmm, give him washable markers and at least you can frame the artwork on the fridge. Saliva art....sadly, just doesn't last forever. :)

Don't blink! Enjoy Enjoy Enjoy!!!
If you have a glass table you could let him use dry erase markers and it would come right off with a paper towel and water.
did you take a picture??
That's precious!
I hope you took a picture...it will be one of your favorite....someday! :)
That is hilarious!... but stories like this continue to develop my deep fear of raising the boy child I'm about to birth. Having a girl first completely spoiled me!
Do y'all have an aquadoodle? It writes like a marker, but uses water. You open the "marker" top, pour water in, and then use like a regular marker. My kids have one and love it and I don't worry about marker mess. Ours only came with one marker though so I need to get another.
Rumor has it I drew a lovely picture with squeeze Parkay on my mother's brand new sofa at that age.
I'm just waiting to see what mine will come up with!
I'm an awful commenter lately, but trust me, I'm still reading. I just wanted to say that this is my favorite post title of yours, ever.
Makes me smile, Little Momma!:)

I was the same way with markers when my children were young. I found some markers - I think crayola makes them - that only color on a certain kind of paper. My kids had as much fun enjoying the markers as they did testing them to see what they wouldn't write on
