Furry Happy Monsters

Not that I'm a fan of R.E.M., but I saw this on Sesame Street this morning and it cracked me up. I was trying to have my quiet time while Jackson watched and ate his breakfast, but I just had to stop and watch it with him for a minute. I think the girl singer flinging her hair was my favorite part. Furry sobbing monsters feeling sad...

I've always loved Sesame Street's "grabby" songs. (Like The Office's Michael Scott says instead of "catchy").

I do love some Furry Happy Monsters. Also, look for Norah Jones and Elmo singing about the letter Y. Classic.

Yeah! Thanks for posting the link to the video. We had quite the dance party this morning during this segment of Sesame Street. Your site meter will see some hits from us today since my kids want to see the video over and over!

Furry happy monsters feeling glad...

I love it! My two year old boy watched it with me. He's now telling me "Do again, the monsters". The girl singer was funny flinging her hair like that!

I saw this clip on "Sesame Street" a few years ago. It CRACKED ME UP. No one does humor like the writers of "Sesame Street." Which is why I love children's television.

(And I completely agree -- the hair flip is the best part.)

Amanda,

I decided to lurk no more because who can't resist coming forwarding for furry happy monsters? It is a favorite of mine, too! My kids are both in school now, but sometimes during the day I'll turn on Sesame Street just for the sheer joy of it!! :)

Never really thanked you enough for all of the blogging friendships you have sparked on the other blog! I'm extremely grateful!!

Blessings,
Dori

Isn't it funny how being a mom changes what you find funny? It just brings the kid out in you watching your toddlers revel in silliness!

I can't tell you the number of times my husband or I have become somewhat engrossed in a segment of Sesame Street. Then we sort of snap out of it and think, "I'm enjoying this too much."

But it's so cute and clever sometimes.

I especially love the things I remember from my own childhood. Ladybug picnic, etc.

I saw the same thing with Tabor and Sydney today! It was fun, wasn't it? Now go to youtube and watch, "You are my sunshine" with the same monsters (I forgot their names). It is really funny!

Our kids love it!

OH MY GOODNESS!!
I found myself bouncing to the beat in my chair and cracking up. My hubby (who is a REM fan) was like "WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE YOU LISTENING TO!!"
His reaction alone was so worth it!! LOL
Thanks for sharing - I just hope I do not sing that song ALL night long!! - ugh!

Hi Amanda,

My children are all grown now and one of the things I miss most is watching Sesame Street. Can't wait for grandbabies so I can catch up with Big Bird and Elmo again. Thanks for the smile!

I love this! I remember watching it with my daughter when she was a toddler. She is 10 now! I miss those years.

Too funny!! How about the rubber duck song or the telephone rock. These songs get stuck in my head and never leave. I have so many preschool songs stuck in my brain from Noggin'. I think I sing them more than my 4 yr old does, lol!!

I know, I know ... I am a lurker too. Sorry! I had to comment though. My Sesame Street junkie is now in pre-school when it is on and I have to say that I really miss it!! I have watched it since I was a kid - and in my adulthood, I was home sick the day that Luis & Maria got married and I watched!!!
My question is this ... do ya think that 4 months old is too young to start on Sesame Street? I am pretty sure that it is, but MOMMY wants to watch!!!

How fun that this is still around! I remember the exact segment from when my 8 year old was a toddler! It must be a classic, as it should be! I know what song is going to be in my head for the rest of the day!

You know, when I saw that, I had to call a much more culturally hip friend (which is basically any friend of mine) just to confirm that I DID see REM on Sesame Street. It made me feel really old.

OK, this is way better than the Barney "Clean Up" song!

Wish my girls were still watching... I miss the sweet days of toddler t.v.
Miss Piggy never had an unplanned pregnancy I had to explain to my daughters- ugh!

Amanda, thanks for this today, I needed a laugh! We can't get Sesame Street here, so that was fun to watch. I agree with Big Mama, I saw the Nora Jones one last year and it is pretty good too.

THAT'S HYSTERICAL! I'm usually catching up on my favorite blogs during the kids' lunch time. As soon as I clicked on the video, lunch came to a skreeching halt and an all out dance party started! Thanks for the exercise.

This made my day! Can you imagine the number of out-takes?

Even REM and the muppets together took me back to 1990 in college.
I sat and watched that whole video just then.....and, sang every word like the original. :)

Now I know I'm in a different phase of my life than you adorable MOPS. When I saw the mood swings from happy, to sad, then happy again, I could relate. Sent it to all my fellow perimenopausal sisters for a laugh!

Amanda,
I saw this SAME episode! I like R.E.M so Grace (my 2 year old) and I started dancing to the song. She had fun and I burned a few calories...win-win situation! :)

Hee Hee! I am not a big REM fan either but you have to give them credit for going along with this. I will have to let Tobey watch this in the morning. It will go well with his morning dance routine. I wish I had his energy!
