Still Thinking Pink

She's still a girl! Yeah! I would have been so great with having another son, but I'm not sure how I would have done after thinking I was having a girl for two or more months. That might have been a little rough! However, I have been really sentimental about Baby Jackson and lately I've just longed to spend a few minutes with him as a tiny little baby again. Last week I was looking at pictures of a friend's newborn twin boys and got a little emotional about it.

Anyway, the 3D ultrasound was great. The first thing the technician did was verify that she was indeed a girl. There was no doubt whatsoever. PTL. After that, the first clear view we got of Baby Girl's face looked exactly like Jackson did when we had his 3D ultrasound. That was my favorite moment. What a sweet thing to already know that they will at least resemble one another! When Jackson was a baby, people told me all the time that he was too pretty to be a boy. So Baby Girl shouldn't mind looking like her big bro!

Baby's hands were in front of her face (in her mouth, actually) most of the time, so we didn't get too many clear shots of her. Most of them are pretty bizarre looking. (If you've ever seen a 3D ultrasound pic before, you know they can look pretty distorted.) Of course, a mom and grandma can overlook the sonogram distortion, but I will refrain from posting those pictures online. I promise you will get so many pictures of this baby after she's born that you will be begging for mercy!

It was so thrilling to see her little face though. I hope the next 12 weeks pass quickly! I don't know if I can stand it! I should probably call Kay and let her tell me how tired she is with her 6-day-old. That might inspire some patience.

Here are some additional thoughts I'm having that do not fit in this post:
-It was 75 degrees today and I had to turn the AC back on. Pregnant Girl needs some crisp air, y'all! Curt tells me to open the windows but I do not want to let in all the allergens that live in my backyard. It's not so bad when you have to turn on the AC in November, but next month I will not be smiling! (Just found out we're getting a cool front tomorrow. Back to the 50's!)

-I finally got to have a slice of cake at that restaurant I was telling y'all about recently. Holy cow. It was better than it looked.

-Jackson is no longer calling himself Tachi. In fact, he says his full name sometimes! Of course, now I miss Tachi.

-Curtis and I both have next Monday through Friday off work. And we aren't going anywhere. I'm not sure we'll even know what to do with ourselves. We need to buy Jackson some new furniture, that's for sure!

-I got out my Snoogle pillow a month ago but at that point it didn't really help me sleep any better. This week I tried again and it has been bliss.

Finally, here are some pics from today.

The belly (and the B's of Doom) at 28 weeks. I think I've gained most of my weight in my FACE! Bleh! I'm trying to take my thoughts captive about this, y'all. It's not forever. It's not forever. It's not forever.

This special moment was brought to you by Bibby and her Visa.

After the ultrasound, we went to Starbucks and enjoyed looking at our pictures and talking about the baby over hot drinks. So fun! Then we joined the LPM girls (and Curtis) for lunch at Sweet Tomatoes. What a great day! Thank you so much, Mom! We've made so many fun memories over these babies, haven't we?

I hear you on being emotional about Jackson. I just had my third child ... a girl after two boys. I honestly didn't think I would bond with her. I was soooooo nervous even going into labor. I just couldn't see how in the world I would bond with her like I had my boys. I was soooo emotional about my youngest boy and held on to him the night before we went to the hospital. It was as if he was dying to me ... not literally but my emotions were all over the place. All I knew was BOY and I loved it. Most of my friends all had boys and I didn't know what I would do with a girl ... enter thrid child ... a precious little girl that I couldnt be more in love with. Still don't know what to do with her sometimes :) but I wouldn't trade it for the world. Anyway, I say all this to say I've been there and am now on the other side.

By the way ... baby girl is having some medical issues and has been for the past month and a half. We would appreciate your prayers if you don't mind. We are taking her to another specalist for a third opinion and hoping that we can finally get some answers.

So exciting Amanda - and I'm so glad it's still a girl! I wanted you to have some pink! And you are right - if she is half as pretty as Jackson is - she is going to be Miss Texas!
You look AMAZING! Seriously - you are tiny. How are you so little? And your face looks beautiful - not big!
Such a special day!!!

My son, Caleb, called himself "Caybub" when he was about Jackson's age. He's now 21 and that is my nickname for him. Sometimes I even call him "Caybubby." He doesn't mind at all. :) So save Tachi for 20 years from now! :)

Peek-a-Baby looks like a fun place to get an ultrasound!

You are radiant!!!

I can relate to your need to be with newborn Jackson...I would LOVE just 10 minutes with my little guy when he was a newborn and he's only 9 1/2 months old! I try so hard to savor every moment with him because there are no guarantees of more babies in our future.

And that place just looks too cute! I think that it is so awesome that you and your mom are getting to share these special times together...what a beautiful pair you are!

*Never put your purse on the ground....yucky stuff there will end up on the bottom of your bag and then on you girl!

Thankfully I was pregnant with my daughter when my son decided he no longer wanted to be rocked to sleep. Man was I glad I had another one on the way. When baby girl decided she didn't want to be rocked to sleep, I was so tired that I was thankful I didn't have another one on the way. Man it's amazing how God works the details out!!

Bless your babies this night :-)

You look so stinkin' cute pregnant! I can't believe you are 28 weeks--you are so super tiny! (I'm 9 weeks with baby #2 and I seriously think I'm already showing... Doesn't bode well for this pregnancy.)

Baby girls are the greatest! You are going to have the best time with her--congratulations! :)

Savor these last few weeks alone with your firstborn. Once Baby Girl comes there's no going back! If you need a reminder of sleepless nights I was up last night at 10 pm, 12 midnight, 3:30 AM, 6:00 AM, 8:00 AM. Baby Boy is a month old and with 3 older siblings to care for naps aren't allowed for me throughout the day like they were when Boy #1 was a baby!

Rachel said...

I totally understand those emotions. I have a son and then a daughter as well and when I was pregnant with our daughter, i was so emotional at times about our son growing and never being a baby boy again. I was so excited to have a girl, but I so loved by boy, too and just went through weird sentimental moments of missing him as a baby.

About you're looks, you're gorgeous!

Is it strange and annoying sometimes to get so many comments from so many people you don't really know? You don't actually have to answer that. :)

Looking at your pictures confirms two things: 1) y'all are just darlin' and 2) good hair is Baby Girl's heritage. Oh yes ma'am it is.

I am so happy that you are having a girl! I look forward to seeing as many pictures of her as you share with us!

You look fabulous! You look tiny if you ask me. I'm 22 weeks pregnant and feel like I look bigger than that. So glad to hear you guys had a fun day. I understand about getting emotional over Jackson. Today, I went and picked up my 16 month old from his crib and held him why he napped. Yes, I realize he could have very well woken up, but it's not very often that he sleeps in my arms anymore and I miss that. Enjoy your week off and enjoying doing nothing and all the yummy food that comes with Thanksgiving!

Congrats on the confirmation it's a girl. I was so nervous that I packed a little boy outfit to go to the hospital - just incase. We didn't do the 3D ultrasound - I had heard horror stories but now kind of wished I had done it. Maybe next time!

I must say, when you did your Aggie ring post last week and it was title "The Precious" I thought you'd come up with this gal's nickname. You know, Jackson is "The Mister" and she's "The Precious". But then I read the post and could hear that creepy thing from Lord of the Rings whispering "My precious..." and I'm not sure it's such a cute nickname anymore. :)

Okay, you don't look pregnant. You just look like you've had a big lunch. And your hair is doing some truly magnificent things, so be encouraged.

So fun! Congrats on baby girl once again! I had a boy first then a girl and it couldn't be a better combination--I still wrestle with my little man and my girl just sits and laughs at us--and she adores her brother, which makes him feel proud. They're still little but you can tell they think the other one is pretty cool!

So glad you had a fun time. I got to have 3D and 4D with my first here in Wales b/c my doctor was trying out the machines to see which ones he liked, so I got to have them for free. That was a blessing. And you look great for being 28 weeks. I'm 4 days ahead of you and look massive, so I'm trying to take my thoughts captive too. Maybe it's because this is my 3rd and my stomach just popped out the minute I took a home test? Ya, I 'll just go with that.

Have a lovely week!

Now have you seen the picture of Kate Gosselin (Jon & Kate plus 8) when she was pregnant with 6?!?! I hurt all over every time I see that picture on their tv show! You should see my husband cover his FACE to keep from seeing that. It is so funny.
Did you pick out nursery stuff? You and your mom have the best taste. I can just picture the crib! But I don't think I'm seeing a vision of pink. Let us know when you can what's up in the nursery.
And that is so sweet that she looks like Jackson in the 3D shot. She will be a beauty with those blue eyes and eyelashes like Bambi!
Enjoy these days...

This time last year, when I was about 30 weeks pregnant, I commented to my best friend that I didn't like wearing so many maternity turtlenecks.

"It makes my face look pudgy," I complained, looking in a mirror. "I think it's because I can't see my collar bones in a sweater, and those are the only bones I have left that show through my skin."

"You've lost your skinny place," she said confidently.

YES! That's it EXACTLY!

All that to say, I understand feeling like you've gained a baby in your facial cheeks. If it's any comfort, you look just adorable. And that sweet little girl will be here (and covered in pink) before you know it.

I wish they would have had those 3D ultrasounds when I had my babies. It was so much fun just seeing the regular ultrasounds, but these 3D's are like looking right inside. How fun!

You are going to enjoy having a little girl so much. After my son, I wondered how I would ever love another child as much as I already loved him, but found out that there was plenty of room in my heart for more. I adore my daughters, who were born 15 months apart - and now I'm looking forward to the day when they have little ones of their own!
