Getting Ready for Baby

This is the crib bedding our principessa is getting from Bibby for Christmas. Yeah! I didn't think I'd be able to post a picture until we had it in our possession, but I figured it out. I love it so much! I was very thorough and even ordered swatches beforehand, so I know it's going to be super cute.

The walls in the nursery are "latte" (like 80% of the rest of the house). Once the bedding, new crib and glider arrive and we can see them in the room, I'll decide whether I want to paint the wall behind the bed pink. Excuse me, did I say "I"? No, no one in the Jones family will be doing any painting. You should have seen how hideous our DIY paint job was in the nursery of our old house. AWFUL. It might have been okay if we had finished it. Oh help me.

I emailed the girl who painted Jackson's canvas letters but I haven't heard back from her. I'm so scared she doesn't do it anymore! I loved, loved, loved Jackson's.

I've spent all afternoon looking on Etsy for fun things. I'm only on page 90 of 200-something under "nursery decor." Wow, that is a lot of handmade stuff.

I got a gift card to Anthropologie for my birthday that hasn't been used yet due to this wonderful little being taking over my body, but I bet I can find some very fun vintage-inspired pink, blue, and yellow knicknacks in there. (Thanks KMac!)

This weekend Curtis and I are dropping our son off at his grandparents' house and going on a little babymoon. We were going to go somewhere awesome, but every scenario that we considered awesome either had to do with swimming, skiing, or involved excessive amounts of walking. Hmmmmmm, not for Pregnant Girl. So, we are checking into a hotel here in Houston that's close to everything fun. We are going to join our Sunday school class for the adults-only Christmas party on Friday night, sleep in as long as possible, order room service, get spa treatments, do a little Christmas shopping, drive through River Oaks and look at Christmas lights, and see a movie. Jackson is hanging out with his grandparents and he will have a great time. Needless to say, I'm counting down the hours until our mega-date weekend!

Ok, PROPS to the people who were able to shape the bedding like it's in the crib, but without the crib. Seriously, awesome photog skillz.
2. LOVE the bedding. Very "new take on an old school style."
3. I paint canvas anything and everything. I will gladly paint Sweet Girl's letters if you want me to - just send me a holler. I can match Jackson's, match bedding, all of the above, or none of the above. Whatever you'd like.
4. Have a blast on your babymoon. Your life will change more with an addition of #2 than it did when Jackson came along. 6 months after she's born, you'll think back and say, "yep, she was right."
I'm serious about the letters. And I know what I'm doing. :)

Oh honey, your babymoon sounds wonderful.

We did the same thing for our anniv last year, incidentally. I was 8 months pregnant, so we just stayed at a nice hotel downtown.

Amanda, when you all are driving through River Oaks, you HAVE to go by the scary angel house. Have you ever seen this huge angel? It is almost as tall as the house. Go down RO Blvd toward the country club and it is either the closest street or the one before the country club. Take a left and it will be on the left hand side a couple of houses down. It is a highlight of the Christmas Light tour. Bring your camera.

The bedding is beautiful, Amanda! I can't wait to see it all come together for you. And thanks for introducing me to Etsy.com (I just got through perusing the site, and oh golly how much fun)!

Yeah for babymoons! Me and my hubby THOROUGHLY enjoyed ours and I know you all will too. You've got wonderful things planned, and how fun to do it at Christmas time with all the lights, sounds, smells of such a special time of year. Blessings on your time together!

Your babymoon sounds fantastic! It was just the other day that I said to my husband, "Remember when we would decide to see a movie on the spur of the moment?" I wouldn't change the season of life we are in but there are times I miss the spontaneity we experienced before children. (:

Enjoy your weekend...I know Jackson will have fun with his Bibby!

Girly's bedding is so pretty! It is really going to look so very cute with her new crib and the room all done up sweet!
I'm with you on the paint job! 2 years ago my sister in law and I decided to paint my room and we never did finish it off! All the walls are painted (3 tan and 1 red) but the trim is not done! She ended up getting pregnant and we just stopped then!

I love your bedding. We had a girl in College Station paint our baby girl's bible verse on canvas for her nursery - it reminds me of your bedding. She paints anything - uses her talent so well. If you're interested in her info, let me know.

Enjoy your babymoon! They are such great ideas!

Hey Amanda, you might, just might want to check out the Christmas program at FBC on Saturday night. I'm singing in it and well...if you guys come in and sit at the top row in the back if no movie fits your taste, than I promise this will inspire ya'll's heart. One of the songs is "The Prayer" you know, sung by Josh Grobing and Celion Dion. Just a passing thought to you. Allison

I have a suggestion on contacting the nursery letter artist. I had the same difficulty last year when I had placed an order with her for my grandson's nursery (by the way, I found out about her by reading your blogspot--many thanks!!) Got better results by going through her e-bay site; she would reply to those e-mails quicker than her doodlingartist.com site. Enjoy your babymoon--sounds like great fun.

Gorgeous bedding! That site is where I got the color scheme of Bug's bedding... then had my personal seamstress (aka cousin) whip up her version of it.

Am so jealous of your babymoon. I'm still waiting for mine! Have fun, you guys!!

oh yeah! I LOVE Javis Davis! Does that make me crazy that I recognized your bedding from the web site? I was a little obsessed with finding the perfect fabric for Carson's nursery so I am pretty sure I have all the best fabric websites memorized....you did a great job picking out the bedding. Baby girl is going to be precious in that crib!!

I thought this was so funny! You called her Pincipessa! Principe means prince, princesa means princess, you combine both and called her Principessa!!! Love it!LOL

Rose, I love it too! I think I learned that from the movie "Life is Beautiful," which is in Italian with English subtitles.

OH MY WORD the bedding. I think I have an addiction to kids bedding; I've been known to glaze over when the PB Kids catalog arrives. So maybe I shouldn't keep looking at that picture. But OH MY WORD, how do I look away? It's adorable. Pregnant Girl has fantastic taste.

Oh, Amanda, the bedding is beautiful! I hope you have a wonderful Babymoon-weekend, relaxing and wonderful.

I tried to order the canvas letters from the girl you ordered Jackson's from and had difficulty. Apparently, her town (and her house) was hit by a tornado some months ago and she lost everything. I don't think she has her business up and running again. But, you can look on ebay and LOTS of people make canvas letters that are just as beautiful!

Elizabeth said...

I love it that you call baby girl Principessa. That's what I call my baby girl too! (and yeah, I got it from the movie...ha!). You will love having a daughter!

Alison said...

Oh, while you are on Etsy, check out my sister-in-law's site. She does the most amazing custom mobile's I've ever seen (she also did letters for my daughter's room). Little Acorn Products: http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=6174129
