Relief

First of all, one of my friends had to deliver her baby by c-section today at 31 weeks. He is in the NICU and is breathing on his own for now. They say the next 72 hours are critical for his lungs. His mommy was having major issues with her blood pressure and had been in the hospital this week for it. Will you please say a prayer for this family? Pray for Mommy's healing and for Baby to be strong and mighty and totally protected from complications that can arise for preemies. Thanks, y'all!

Second, this has been a weird week. I found out on Monday that Annabeth had been exposed to chicken pox. My understanding was that she would probably get them and it could take up to three weeks for them to show up. We have hunkered down all week and rearranged all kinds of plans to keep from potentially spreading it to our friends' babies. (Kids over age 1 normally get vaccinated for this.) You're contagious before the blisters ever show up. I have really stressed over this. I know chicken pox aren't terribly dangerous for otherwise healthy kids, but imagining her sweet baby skin covered in pox makes me want to cry.

This morning, a week after the exposure, she woke up with a rash on her tummy. I thought for sure that was it. Her doctor's office wanted to see her in the event that she got the virus in order to confirm the case, so I took her in. Praise the Lord, it turned out not to be chicken pox. She has very sensitive skin like me and apparently some lotion we used on her yesterday caused it. I'm so thankful. I also found out that the day she was supposedly exposed was not actually when the other child was contagious. What a relief! I wasn't going to Metro tonight, and now I am. Annabeth couldn't go to church for several weeks, and now she can. Curt wasn't going out of town to hang with his friends this weekend, and now he is. We weren't going to get to see the Lazos next week while they're here, and now we can. I feel like I just got my life back.

Great news! I know you are relieved. Wanna know what I did tonight? Pick through my 4 yr. old's hair b/c someone in her Nursery class has lice. EEK! UGH! GAG! She's clear for now, please, please spare us Lord! But I freaked and washed everything she has ever worn to school and stripped her bed down. I can't wait for my husband to come home!!!

Wow, times have changed, haven't they? I remember being young and it was no big deal when we got the chicken pox. Now everyone's vaccinating against it. But I suppose it could be kind of scary if a baby caught it.

Praying that our Great Physician will keep the baby wrapped in His big 'ol loving arms and give Mom and Dad the calm and peace they need while He heals!!

Glad to hear Annabeth's news, too! That's a relief. Enjoy your weekend now!

Not sure I understand. You said it could take up to 3 weeks to show. Then you said it has been 1 week, so you are taking her out to see friends?

Praying from your friend's baby. Glad she wasn't exposed.

I've been visiting Houston and hoped to come to Metro but I'm farther away from HFBC than I originally thought. Did get to see y'all church on Tuesday night when we took a wrong freeway in coming home from the Galleria. It looked nice and I can't wait to see it again in January.

Happy weekend! Jill

Happy for all of you. God answered that prayer quickly; PTL and thank You, Jesus.

If given the Chicken pox vaccine, does this prevent them from getting Shingles in the future and when elderly?

Will pray for the baby, mother and family.

Oh my goodness, I'm so glad! It is so hard to be stuck at home, even if it is for a good reason. And I'm also really glad Annabeth won't have to deal with the chicken pox! Can you imagine having it before you have good control of your hands so you can properly scratch?! ;)

Ck_tulsa, we found out that she had not actually been exposed to it after all. When she was around the other child who came down with it, that child was not contagious yet.

So glad Annabeth does not have chicken pox and that now you get your life back. That is no fun at all to sit at home and sit around just waiting for them to appear!

I was so sad I missed Metro tonight. We're leaving for high school camp on Monday and I am just overwhelmed at all I have to do before we leave, so I missed out. And clearly, will miss it next week, too. Stink! Hope it was great!

I know you are relieved. I can't imagine one that little having the Pox. But honestly? I'd rather my kid have them than the shot since it wears off when they're about 10 and the chicken pox are a much bigger deal then, in many ways.

I am glad you don't have to stay cooped up in the house, though. That can drive a woman crazy!

And praying for your friend and her baby. We had a friend who had an emergency C-section this week, 4 1/2 weeks early. It's scary for everyone!

I will be praying for your friend, Amanda. I am super sensitive to this kind of thing right now...it wasn't normal, but Praise the LORD, it has ended well!:) And the week is really not over yet:) I'm glad Annabeth is alright! I would take sensitive skin over chicken pox anyday!

Blessings to you!:)

Relieved that you found some relief!
And please know I'll be praying for your friend.
I made your Sopapilla Cheesecake for VBS workers this week and love the almond extract added to your recipe:) And loved the story about this recipe in the Siesta Fiesta Cookbook. I truly think it is a 'gourmet' recipe:)
Blessings today and always,

Thank-you Lord for this blessed reprieve!

I know chicken pox are just one of those things that most kids have to endure...but you're right Amanda...It's very hard to watch your child suffer with it.

I'm glad that she wasn't exposed! When my daighter was 2 weeks old she was exposed and never got them. The Dr. said that it's VERY rare that a baby under 6 months gets them, especially if they are breastfeed- so you can rest easy!
Praying for Momma & Baby- hope they are all ok!

Yeah - life does not have to stop. Last post I said, "chicken pox wouldn't be so bad" - I apologize if that sounded like I was making light of it.... I was just trying to look on the bright side. Sorry!
