I Would Like a Piece of Cake

My appointment is in 45 minutes. Can I just tell you that I am dying for a big piece of cake right now? Like, a BIG piece of cake. I've had to eat since my appointment is so late in the day, but I haven't let myself have anything sweet. Except a sip of Curt's Dr. Pepper. And if that does me in then I don't know what to say. I even made scrambled eggs for breakfast instead of the usual toast and jelly. Jackson kept saying, "Big eggs, Mommy!" which meant he wanted me to watch him eat a really big bite of eggs.

I have a new restaurant obsession but it's so sad because I can't share it with you. I think it would give away my neighborhood if I haven't already done that inadvertently. It is so good though! I took Curt there for lunch today and won him over. They have slices of cake for dessert, which is why I am now being mentally tortured by thoughts of baked goods.

Bunco last night was great. We were really hoping to be wild enough to send Kay into labor, but not so wild as to give NancyMon any heart troubles. For one round Kay and I were partners but the two preggies together did not do so hot. Dumb and Dumber couldn't keep track of their sixes. Also, I won the boobie prize. (All the losers qualify for the boobie prize roll-off.) I thought it was very fitting and that I above all people in attendance deserved it.

That's all for now. I need to be alone with my thoughts (i.e. obsess about whether I'm about to get scolded for weight gain or congratulated for my self-control. We'll see.) Take care, peeps.

There is no way I could have kept up with my Bunko score when I was pregnant. I couldn't even remember to hold my keys in a store and not put them down on a random shelf....

Mmmmmmmm cake - I wish you could share the new restaurant! I hope the glucose test goes well!!

I'm sorry but you are making me want a piece of cake, too! A girl can't eat alone! Maybe by now you will have been congratulated for your self-control and will be able to celebrate with something sweet tonight! I love how you say, "peeps"! My daughter is like you and would NEVER let me say that word. I may try to say it on facebook and see if I am in trouble!
Take good care!
Love,
Angie xoxo

Amanda! I know you're going for your gestational diabetes test. I want you to know when I had that with my third, I blew it! I went home to wait until the next testing, and absentmindedly popped a lifesaver in my mouth.

Duh.

That threw my numbers off and I had to have the 3 hour test.

No sips of Dr. Pepper!

Prayers and blessings to you!

Hi Amanda! Long time reader, but first time commenter. I just wanted to wish you the best with your glucose test. I ended up having gestational diabetes with my 2nd pregnancy, but it wasn't as bad as I thought. I cried like a baby when I found out, but my OB's office has a wonderful Dietician who helped me understand exactly what I needed to do and I was able to keep my sugar controlled by diet - without having to take any meds! I had a healthy baby boy 11 months ago yesterday, so everything worked out wonderfully. Even so, I will say a prayer for you!

Amanda, didn't your dad say he remembered you girls in a red coat? I think I remember reading that somewhere. Anyway, I thought of that when I came across one while looking through The Children's Place web-site. I don't know if it's anything like what he meant but just in case here's the link if you are interested...

Hope the glucose test went well... I always failed the first one for some reason and had to do the 3 hour version... Yuck! I still think of it every time I see a Sunkist or Orange Crush! (is it still that orange drink?) I just remember taking that first sip thinking... this isn't so bad... then Ugh by the end you are just gagging!

Hope you get a big piece of cake afterwards!

I sure hope you got your cake this evening!!!!

And, if your restaurant obsession is what I think it is, I have been CRAVING it all week! What did we do to ourselves in discovering that place???

So...thanks! so now I want cake! and I can't use pregnancy as my excuse! and worse yet, I spent most of last week eating up the rest of the chocolate chip cheesecake my mother made for my birthday...all by myself. I had so much that my face is now breaking out like I've eaten too much chocolate!

At least I know I'm not the only one who needs to "break free" from cake! :)

UGH! I know about wanting to blog about stuff but knowing it might not be a good thing. I really wanted to blog about getting ready for our 2 week vacation and all the Pain and Stress of getting ready. But I was having a housesitter and didn't want to compromise her in any way.

Hope your appointment went well and you got yourself a big 'ol piece of cake!!

Did you get a piece of cake?

I want cake too. but I can't eat cake because my baby is nearing 7 months old which means I only have about 2 more months to justify this post partum figure and therefore need to kick it in gear....BBBUUUTTTTTT I'm going to be in H-town in less than two weeks so I'm afraid you're going to have to e-mail me said cake serving restaurant, because all diet bets are off when I'm home for the holidays!!!!!!

I have been praying that your glucose test was good. I had to do the 3 hour one when I was pregnant 18 years ago. I do not have fond memories of it. All that sticky sweet stuff I had to drink!

I was just invited to a cake tasting to pick out a cake for my parents 50th anniversary. Wish you could come with me.
