Barefoot Baby Booted from Burger King

Curtis and I were laughing so hard while we were watching this, especially when they said the incident happened in Missouri (Curt's homeland). I was literally wiping tears off my face.

Just today the kids and I were getting ready to meet my mom for lunch and I was spazzing out because I couldn't find Jackson's "crocodile shoes." (They're the only ones that fit right now.) Mom said, "Honey, just let him come barefoot."

"Um, Mom? Jackson is not a baby anymore. They're not gonna let him in the restaurant like that."

Mom's been working way too hard lately, so I had to cut her some slack. She was fatigued.

Call me a redneck, but Annabeth hasn't worn shoes in a couple of months. I've never worried that I might be asked to leave a restaurant because of her barefootedness, much less that someone might threaten to call the cops on us.

Oh man, thanks for the hearty laugh, BK!

I've never liked Burger King anyway!

Oh my goodness, so funny! I was laughing so hard. I guess I am a redneck also because I do not put shoes on Ava right now either! Guess I should start putting shoes on her when we go out to eat...she is not far behind at 4 months!

Thanks for the laugh!!

All I know is I've seen a lot worse things in some Burger Kings than some bare baby feet.

That's just crazy!

that is greatness!! our babies didn't wear shoes or socks for months after they were born, too. i've never considered that we might be violating any codes! :0)

Now that is funny! Thankfully I never ran into Barney Fife when I was toting around my shoeless babies or even as early as... a FEW weeks ago!

Seriously, the other day we go to get out of the car and my FIVE yr old has ONE shoe on!! Mercy...she had to be carried in to Chic-fil-A! When you are loading 5 kids in the car, sometimes shoes get missed. Thank you Jesus I have never left a kid behind!

Oh my!!! Call me a redneck too - my kids didn't wear shoes unil they were walking! Thanks for the laugh!

Love,
Jennifer

I remember seeing a picture you had posted of Annabeth with shoes on and I thought to myself - I should put shoes on Liz. She's nine months old and has still not had the priveledge of wearing shoes. Coming from a mom who L.O.V.E.S. shoes, I think I'm crazy. But I just love her little bare feet. I'll probably do the same with Bladen (that's right - we found out it's a BOY!). I'll just keep Burger King on my list of food places not to enter now! Ha! Thanks for the laugh!

Oh my word! My oldest didn't even own shoes until her first birthday. :)

We live in Arkansas (where everyone thinks we don't wear shoes anyway (same goes for MO)) and it's 95 degrees and Harper's favorite thing is to suck on her toes......so she hasn't worn shoes since April. I try to at least put on cute socks on her for Church but they are usually off before we come home. ha!
I say let the kids enjoy being barefoot before they start walking and HAVE to wear shoes.

That is hilariously ridiculous! My niece Kensley does not hardly ever wear shoes...shoot it is hard enough to get Cole (who is 3 1/2) to keep his flip flops on...tell him we cannot go in the store/resturant etc..without them so he usually is happy to obey :) (especially if it is the "train store" aka barnes and noble!)
Thanks for the laugh!

Now that's pretty funny!

I JUST saw that on the news this morning and laughed REALLY hard. I think it is TOO hot for babies to wear shoes right now. Heck, I don't want to wear shoes!

I hear about this on the news this morning! Couldn't believe it. That poor mom!!

How funny! Maybe the manager inhaled a bit too much zit cream that day?

Count me in on being a redneck, Levi rarely wears shoes.

Too funny!

Lindsey said...

You are not a redneck because Annabeth hasn't worn shoes. I am a firm believer in no shoes if you can't walk. My baby is 8 months old and has never worn shoes!

Heather said...

that is crazy! Glad we aren't BK fans!

Craziness.

I would have LOVED to see the cops called and see what they had to say about a 6 month old and no shoes.

Too funny!

I am with you...this is absurd! This guy was taking his job too seriously! If BK was not losing popularity anyway...this might just sink the ship!

I hadn't heard the story--what a bunch of crazies!!

I saw this on the news last night & was SHOCKED!!! SO RIDICULOUS!!!

My 8 month old has NEVER worn shoes and now that it's so hot she doesn't even wear socks. That's completely crazy!!

Come on, is Kelly from Arkansas equating Missourians with Arkansans, really???

Ok, maybe I am a redneck....I didn't make my daughters wear shoes until they were in grade school....JK :)

babies shouldn't have to wear shoes till they are walking on surfaces that you swish to protect them from. sheesh. they are only free from these adult burdens for so long, let 'em go barefoot. Ginny is almost a year and we only recently bought shoes and only because her early learning teacher informed us that she would have to wear shoes for class.

um..guys? this is the same classroom she has been wandering around in barefoot on Sundays for almost a year!

oh well. At least she isn't fighting the shoes. I've seen babies try to kick them off, but she doesn't seem to mind at all. so I guess we got lucky.

Still, kicking someone out of a BK cause their baby isn't wearing shoes?
crazy.

OK, funny, yes...but also infuriating! I had a person at a home and garden show come after me when I sat down on a chair holding my baby - (and yes, my intent was to nurse her, but I never even got my shirt lifted) when this person called SECURITY on me, saying I couldn't nurse my baby there...health code violation because they were demoing cookware. The ignorance is sooo very sad. Glad this momma stuck up for herself!

Ryland hasn't worn shoes for her entire 15 months...she's as stubborn as an ox and she doesn't like them, if that makes me a redneck and keeps me from BK...so be it ;)

Erin said...

ohhhh, and furthermore...since my girl is (and has been for 5 months) walking, she perm. has black feet as well...ahhhh, baby #3

This is too funny. My 5 1/2 month old hasn't worn shoes a day in her life. She wore socks when she was a newborn because it was still cold outside, but she doesn't even wear socks now that it's summer. We're much more concerned with putting a cute bow on her head than with shoes! :)

Hi Amanda...didn't see a 'contact me' place on your blog, so you don't have to publish this, but I just wanted to say 'thanks' for the verse over at Marla's...I hadn't thought of that one...and very true.

Hope you're keeping cool in Houston!

Apparently that manager is a "rules" guy. Too funny. I watch my 14 mo old niece and I have never gotten her from my sister with shoes on, ever. She is just starting to walk so I am sure the shoes will be coming with her soon but I love bare feet.
Smiles!

I used to think the weirdest thing about Burger King was their "King" guy in the commercials. I see they've one upped themselves without even trying.

My favorite part is the woman who called in suggesting that the baby took her shoes off herself.

wow. that is awesome.

I saw that this morning, too. I was amazed. I can't tell you how many times my boy has gone into a restaurant sans shoes. And now even when he does wear them, they end up magically coming off before the meal is over.

I think that's another good excuse for me to stay away from Burger King.

My girls never wore shoes as babies. Plus, a lady at my church who is older and wise says that Southern girls do not wear shoes until they are 4 years old! : )

girl I think what is killing me the most right now is the breastfeeding baby for small children. UNREAL!

-- BK-Rude!! Welcome to king burger where we can do it your way but don't get crazy! They should have gone to King Burger!

Are you serious? Price never wears shoes and he's almost ONE! This cracked me up. I have seen a lot worse things in Burger King than a baby with no shoes.

Last night when we were pulling out of the parking lot from the store in the next little town, out walked a mama carrying a barefoot baby and a (probably six year old) little boy walking out with no shoes on... BK would have a fit here.

This is the same grocery store that when I asked incredulously if smoking was allowed IN THE STORE, the clerk responded, "Oh, yes ma'am!" Like I wanted to light up...

Live in redneck city,
Lora

It really doesn't matter until they walk. And are potty trained. Because barefoot kids in Burger King restrooms - OHHHHH - breathe in, breathe out...

Michelle said...

My pediatrician said not to put them in shoes until they are actually walking-it's better for their foot and ankle muscle development not to wear shoes. She said this because I had brought my first baby in to an appointment in a cute outfit complete with matching shoes. I felt so dumb at that moment. 4 babies later, and I never put the others in shoes until they were old enough to walk. Plus, their little baby feet are just so cute!

My son had an enormous amount of hair from birth so by six months he really needed a hair cut. It was the middle of summer and he was 6 months old and he just needed a little trimmed out of his eyes in front. We were dressed and had the camera in tow and went as a walk in to a little barber shop near our house, where they refused to cut his hair because he wasn't wearing shoes! I wondered what they thought would happen to his feet!
