On Friday night we had a zany little family party for Annabeth. First we ate Mexican food and then we came back to our house for dessert. The Cinderella cake from Randall's was our honored guest. It was pretty small and we are a cake-loving family, so I got three cupcakes to go along with it. The icing did not fare well on the ride home and they looked tie-dyed. Cinderella almost plunged to the ground two times, but the Lord was very merciful and she survived.
You know those blogs that have really dreamy and beautiful party pictures? This is not one of those blogs. We try to do cute stuff, but we are not as awesome and professional as those people.
We are, however, enthusiastic. And we will make fools of ourselves to delight our wee ones. Exhibit A:
Bibby in a Rapunzel dress that was
Melissa also wore a princess dress, but she threatened to disown me if I published a picture of her in it. I'm not going to test her.
This is when we were singing to Annabeth. She sang along to herself.
She had a near-meltdown when the cake was cut, but homegirl triumphed over her emotions. She is three now, you know.
Mom got Annabeth this cute little ironing board.
She also got her this mask. I don't really know what to say about it.
These princess gloves were a gift from Aunt Melissa.
Dad reminded me of an Aztec something or other with this thing on his head.
And this is the classic "Dad falls asleep at the party" picture.
Cinderelly had kind of a rough night.
Me and Sis.
Today is my sister-in-law Lindsay's birthday. We wish so much that we could celebrate with her in Missouri. We love you, Lindsay Ellen! You are an amazing sister, aunt, and friend.

Love the princess dresses! Looks like y'all had a fun time.
Love the theme...so cute!
There is the princess dress! So sweet. Bibby got her princess dress, I see! I love it. And I love the "dad falls asleep" pic. I have finally advanced to the "I can't watch a movie at home without falling asleep." I joined the club!! Sweet family, Amanda.
Your princess is adorable! (BTW, I've got ALOT of pics of my father doing the same thing - must be a dad-thing! :)
Happy 3 years to Annabeth! She is such a cutie and I LOVED that cake! I also love that you were all wearing your princess dresses. My littlest angel, Cate, just turned one today. We had a winter "onederland" party on saturday but the weather outside was more appropriate for a luau - haha! new jersey is bizarrely having such warm weather this winter :)
LOVE this! I love that yall all wore princess dresses!
I laughed all the way through this post! I love that you "altered" the dresses so you could be princesses too. What we won't do for our kids and grandkids! Such fun!
This looks just like the birthday parties I had growing up...though I was the only one in the princess dress. How sweet!
That is an awesome party! Several years ago we threw my mom a surprise PINK Barbie party. Dad had a friend make the cake; she had to stop quickly when delivering it and poor Barbie sunk a little. We told the lady- she felt so bad about it- that it was entirely appropriate to have a middle-aged Barbie with her chest closer to her waist! :)
Oh this so made me smile!! My (now 9) daughter had a Cinderella party when she turned three. It was so much fun...and she did melt down. I love that your mom modeled everything...absolutely precious.
I am now near sobbing realizing that was 6 years ago.
The mask...maybe Bibby needs to break out some Psalty the Singing Songbook CD's so AB can dress up and sing like Charity Churchmouse..."Jesus put the song in my heart...!" ;) (Rock on, Jesus children of the 80's!)
This was hilarious. I love reading your posts Amanda-they are so funny.
I love your family! I was about to say especially your mom...and you...and Annabeth...okay, fine I love all of you! Although, I must say I'm a little disappointed that Melissa was not willing to be publicly humiliated. For crying out loud, Mama Beth has a non-profit organization! She has a reputation to uphoold....oh, wait this is her reputation! :) Never mind!
Oh, and I must say, I think you're dad looks a little terrified with that on his head...I'm just saying!
Oh, and another thought I had: I know I said that Bibby just glowed in that picture on twitter. That picture of you with your girl, Amanda! YOU glowed in that picture! I kid you not! You all are so beautiful! I just really need a picture of the glowing Melissa now to complete the set!
Oh my word, you are awesome!!!! And I am right there with you on the fact that "there will be no amazing photography or blow your mind decorations, but by golly we had a blast!" kind of party thrower. And your Mom is hilarious!
Thanks for sharing the party with us! Such fun :)
So sweet! Blessings on the birthday girl. My dad does the same thing, too, and also, that mask!! :)
That cakes looks delicious!! It's hard to tell who had more fun w/ the gifts, Bibby or AB...:) I'm guessing Jackson opted to dress as Optimus Prime to counter some of the girlyness of the party? Thanks for sharing. Great memories!
So incredibly cute! I love that all the big girls dressed appropriately for this shindig...and that your Daddy feels so relaxed in your home!!
Yes that mouse mama would be our fearless Bible Study leader...Grin.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY ANNABETH!
How sweet! My little girl has a big brother who is very much into Transformers, Mario, Teenage Ninja Turtles...and the likes, so to see my little Miss FINALLY start to like princesses THRILLS me! Haha. I love that you ALL got right into the theme...even your Daddy seemed to play along! So fun!
I must also say, which I have mentioned to you before...I am so envious of AB's HUGE bows. My Marley just won't tolerate it....that's not to say I don't keep trying!
Thank you so much for sharing! :) This post certainy gave me a smile today!
I saw the picture on twitter of all three of you (your mom, you, and Melissa) in Princess dresses with Annabeth! What an ingenious, loving, and fabulous thing to do! I just thought it was so fantastic. What a way to celebrate with a special little girl.
And the mask? Well...it's both darling and creepy at the same time. haha
Your dad must be hilarious!
It looks like y'all had such a good time! That Cinderella cake looked amazing. Happy third birthday to Annabeth!
Looks like so much fun! (I'm totally jealous of that Keurig I see in the background, or at least I think it is!! I was addicted to my mom's at Christmas) We miss you on Twitter. Hugs.
The Cinderella cake is so much fun. I kinda want one. Grin
Happy Birthday ANNABETH...!
So sweet to read, Amanda! Love all those sweet pictures. Never having children it struck me that as a baby they don't know much, they learn and maybe like a blank piece of paper where if love is poured into them the paper is filled with beauty and light and grows into more of a precious flower. I see that with your children. It's always a treat to visit your Blog! xo Allison
This will be a day your little princess will always remember. Why? Because she was surrounded by love! There is no need for a flashy party when the light of love is shining forth so brightly. ;)
Blessings and Happy Birthday Annabeth!

Oh my word. Your mother in a Tangled dress made my day. Caroline wore her Cinderella costume to her big brother's karate class yesterday because I can only choose so many battles with a 2.5 year old girl. One lady remarked that if she had that dress in her size, she too would find it difficult not to wear it outside of the house. I have to agree.
Great! Thanks for sharing. Your dad looks like one of the old british or one of the founding fathers with their white wigs.
Amanda, your birthday pictures make me smile...I should tell you a story. I have wedding pictures on my wall at home opposite my dining table, and my little girl likes to look at them and occasionally say, "Mommy princess, Mommy princess!" She thinks my wedding dress is a princess gown...I'm praying mommy princess proves to be a warrior princess for Jesus! He is able...
This may be on of my favorite things I've ever read on the Internets. A MILLION loves that you big girls dressed up as princesses. Can NOT wait for those days with Zoe.
Let's be neighbors now - I need all the ideas I can get :)

hi amandaa .... hehee, cute and beautiful ...
I've missed your blogging, hope everything is okay!
The picture of your dad with the tutu(?)...priceless! I was feeling really down but I saw that pic and laughed out loud! Now I know why God directed me here. Thank you so much for being real! :)
I am reading this blog entry late, but had to comment. I love the birthday pics! The princess dresses are so cute! I have a grand-daughter who would have loved to have been at the party and the tea party! She definitely would have come in her leggings and princess dress too. What fun! Thanks for sharing this with us. --Janet from FL
Amanda -
Just read your mom's blog...will be so prayerful for you as you travel! I know how stressful it is to leave your kiddos...I have 8,6, & 4 yr. old. Breaks my heart to leave them but thankful to God for such wonderful men to have "daddy time".
I am visiting from Kelly's Korner and I just LOVE your tablecloth on your table in the picture of your sweet daughter blowing out her birthday candles. Would you mind sharing where you got it??
Miss your posts Ms. Amanda but I can imagine how busy you are with your new role as wife of a Pastor and your new church. Take care. Think of you and your church often as I get BCF emails. Love to all of you.
