Packing Lite in a Big Bag

Four posts in 24 hours - that may be a record for me. In a few minutes I will rise from my big green chair and start packing for my weekend getaway with my mom and sis. Melissa and I received these instructions by text message a few hours ago:
"Sweeties, don't forget to bring a larger suitcase with room to take stuff home." Wonderful, wonderful words for a daughter to hear! This is our first girls weekend in about two and a half years and it is much needed. Curt's mom and sis are coming to stay with my boys and I know they will have a blast too.

While I am looking forward to spending this fun time with my mama, my heart is heavy for one of my best friends and old roommate, Mel. Mel's mom has been battling ovarian cancer for four years. Next week she will have a PET scan to see if there are any tumors. If there is more than one tumor, the surgeon will not operate on her again. If she does not see more than one, Mel's mom has another chance at fighting this. Mel is enlisting some prayer warriors on her blog. If the Lord prompts your heart, please pray for Mrs. Roberson and consider leaving Mel a word of encouragement. Thanks a million! Y'all are the best.

I hope you have a wonderful Labor Day weekend with friends and family. I will be back next week for a full report on the joys of eating well, shopping till we drop, and just hanging out with my two favorite women in the world. I'm still waiting to hear from Courtney and Jennifer's people about doing lunch, but there's still time!

I can't wait to hear about it--especially what will fill the rest of the very large suitcase! Praying for your time.

Praying for your friend's Mom. Lord, heal her completely. May no more tumors show up. In the mighty and accomplishing name of Christ Jesus...no other Name! Amen.

Enjoy your time with your Mom and Sis!! What a blessing that you get to spend it together. Can't wait to hear what you can share. Remember some things should remain between mothers and daughters--blog or not!!

Praying for your friend's mom. I have a coworker in a similar situation. So my thoughts and prayers are with your friend's mom.

What fun! I know you will have a blast! My aunt always packs an EXTRA suitcase in one of her suitcases for stuff she buys (she loves outlet malls and is an expert shopper!). Praying for Mel's mom.

Amanda,
May God fill your time with your mom and sister with laughter, love and lots of fun!!
I also will pray for your friends mom!! My best friend lost her mom 3 years ago to a brain tumor I know the agony we feel for our friends when they suffer through such things.
I will pray that God will heal Mel's mom and when they perform the PET scan the results will come back completely clear - no tumors at all!!! Our Jehovah Rapha will be her healer - that is my prayer.
God bless!
Kim

Holy Cow! You have been a busy bloggin' girl!

Hope you come back with bags bursting at the seams. I can't imagine a more fun weekend. I'd love a couple of days with your sis just to pick that exegetical brain of hers! :) I am forever a big ball of questions...

Also praying for your friend's mom to be healed in the way it brings most glory to our God. I especially pray that will come through a full earthly recovery.

Have fun - all of you deserve it!

much love,

Lisa

I found this blog and I thought of you since they are moving to Dallas. I don't know her(like many of the blogs I read), but she seems funny.

Those are some of the sweetest words a momma could say. :-)

When I lived 3000 miles away from my Mom, we would fly home once a year for a visit...eventually we learned to just bring a whole empty suitcase! Hee hee. Gotta love shopping mamas!

Hey friend...I got so tickled on Sunday when Curt said he had talked to you and all three of you were changing into your tennis shoes at the hotel to prepare for more shoppin' because your feet were hurting! I LOVE IT!
