Vanilla

The fact that I have about a hundred things to say, none of which matter a hill of beans, is proof that I need to re-establish my blogging discipline. Because up until 10 days ago I blogged timely, concise posts about very important things.

Wonder Woman Week is going well. It has been a pretty boring, uneventful week but I think that was the point - to be busy at home. Not at the mall. Not driving all around town. Not going out to eat for every meal. It's been good though. It's like homemade vanilla instead of mint chocolate chip. Both are good but if you only eat mint chocolate chip you forget how good vanilla is.

So here are some random things that have given me at least mild amusement lately:
-Today I heard Achy Breaky Heart on the radio in Spanish.
-Jackson has outgrown all of his pajamas, so we got to buy new ones yesterday. I absolutely love little boy pajamas.
-I'd heard that those, um, interesting ladies from a certain kids' hair salon were relocated. We ventured back in today after Gymboree and Jackson got a hair cut from a wonderful, normal lady. There he experienced his first lollipop. Unless a certain dad or a grandparent has given him one without my knowledge.;)
-My mom and sister and I booked a girls trip to a certain sunny city for Labor Day. I'm going to have my people call Jennifer and Courtney's people and see if we can do lunch.
-We rented Night at the Museum. Lots of people had told me we would like it and they were right! I loved Owen Wilson's Little Cowboy character. Also? I have a major weakness for Kettle Corn, which is sold in individual packets right next to the cashier at Blockbuster.
-This is old news, but Curt and I have greatly enjoyed welcoming the Beckhams to America. As you know, we have a lovely golden retriever named after David Beckham. I'm sad to say that our invitation to their party (hosted by the Cruises) got lost in the mail. Is anyone else but me obsessed with Katie's new hair? She was my sister in baby bangs, you know.

It's time for this Wonder Woman Wannabe to don her Adidas and make an appearance at aerobics! See ya!

Katie Holmes hair is cute, but what is with Posh Spice's haircut? It's just so... so... so... odd? I don't get it. I'm a traditionalist, I guess, when it comes to hair...

PS I should add that I know Katie's hair is supposed to be similar to Posh's, but I don't think it has the same overall effect at all. It works with Katie's hair. Posh's looks alien.

I deem you as an official Wonder Woman. You deserve it.

I love boy pajamas too! Mine are more into sleeping in their boxers now, it is kind of sad! I love the way those tight little cotton summer shorts fit their little bodies. Wow, it was a while ago! It flies so fast Amanda, treasure every moment!

I agree with Debra. :) Wear that cape girl! I love love LOVE Katies new hair. Too bad it would look terrible on me or I'd allready have it! :) And kettlecorn... girl you are a temptress! LOL!

Have fun finishing Wonder Woman week.... this post is about as random as yours!!

Big Mama and I have had a couple of Deeply Meaningful conversations about Coming to America. Because we love it. I have watched it two and a half times. And I'm never deleting it from the DVR because I am a sick, sick woman.

i still have my baby bangs... and will be getting some more soon. So I'll take Katie's place in your life.

I've been trying to avoid the whole Beckham thing... I just don't understand why she can't smile once in awhile.

Blessings,
Karla

You're not a NIKE girl???

Lori said...

Hey Amanda...I don't think I have posted yet on your blog but I have been lurking!! Glad you have had a great week at home and the second haircut went much better! I laughed so HARD after your post about 2 haircuts in one day...see I told you I am a lurker!!!

Amanda said...

I'm sad to admit this, but I'm not a Nike girl because they are too narrow for my awful feet. They're just not very comfortable. In fact, if my friend Julie is reading this she will testify because I gave her the last pair of Nikes I bought! I did have a horse named Nike in junior high though.

Forget Jen and Courtney, I want a few hours with their hairdresser. Oh, to have those great layers and perfect sunkissed highlights.

And as for Posh, she is major.

It makes me feel so much better that I am not the only one keeping up with the Beckhams these days! Love Katie's hair and wish I could pull off short hair!

BTW - my husband and I would love to get the website to the place in Cancun where you just went on vacation. We are wanting to go somewhere next yr for our anniv. If you don't mind, would you leave me a comment and let me know.

Love your blog and Jackson is PRECIOUS!

well, i figure the sunny city is not houston, and the courtney you speak of is not me, since i had no idea you were in town last week! maybe you can come back to the humid city and meet this courtney for lunch one day - i miss you, fellow diva!

I love Katie Holmes new haircut! Even her skin/make-up looks better than ever. And as for Posh, I think her hair is great. I think it's very chic...not everyone can pull off that style, but I think she does it very well. Coming to America was great TV...I wish they would do a sequel! My hubby watched it with me...in complete disbelief that an hour was dedicated to the Beckhams. I loved it. It was a nice break from Diego, Wonder Pets, and Backyardigans. :)

Love,

P.S. We liked Night at the Museum too. It was a pleasant surprise!

Did you watch "Victoria coming to America"? Jeffrey watched it twice! He thinks they are the coolest people ever...that is why I wore high heels to our anniversary (Posh thinks you always have to wear heels). AND...I got some new cool shades like she wears. Pretty funny! If you didn't see the show...I have it on tivo.
Also, so proud of your Wonder Woman Week!!! Way to go!

I'm still laughing about hearing Achy Breaky Heart in Spanish. And now that I have it in my head (in English), I might really have to go do the dance in front of my sister to embarrass her :)

I just love your happy, upbeat blog! I, too, adore Katie's new haircut! I just bought the new issue of People so that I could view it from all angles.... now to get up the nerve to actually ever cut it? Yikes!
Blessing to you and your sweet little family!

Hope your grandpa got to go home today. I am still praying for you guys, and was glad to hear from Gary C. that your grandpa was out of ICU and doing better. I know that relieves all of you. I love vanilla days, too, and that's what makes mint chocolate chip better. Sometimes, I prefer vanilla particularly BlueBell! Here's to vanilla days hopefully with less rain. Special blessings on you and your family as your mom and dad are away.

I was so obsessed with the hair cut that I got in the car and drove my little self to the salon and asked for it. It looks a little different but that is what i was going for.....

I'm sad to hear the ladies from the hair salon have relocated! I was hoping to take Ella there for her first hair cut! :-)

1. I love the ice cream analogy. I might just steal it.
2. Achy Breaky Heart in Espanol cracked me up.
3. Katie Holmes' haircut IS awesome. She looks like a grown-up now.

Thought it was about time to post a little something from the great (but too far away) state of NC! We are missing you guys in so many ways! Hopefully our blog can be created soon, but we're having some computer issues. Miss you Amanda! And oh, I'm such a fan of Victoria after her special on nbc last week. What was her line- "it's fantastic being fabulous" or something like that. Love it.

i'm gonna have to browse the internet and get caught up on life. we don't have tv at camp (where i've been since may so we struggle to stay up with the world...which is normally a good thing!) i have heard lots about the hair cut though so i'll have to check that out.

i missed this "coming to america" thing too?!

We've been loving some Posh on TV... she cracks me up, but I don't think she's meaning to be funny.

We just got Wog's first haircut last Saturday. There was a sucker involved (his first & second) and it went smashingly!

I bought Asher some new p.j.'s yesterday and have noticed in pictures that he and Jackson have some of the same ones! My son in tight little pajamas melts my heart.
Victoria Beckham is "absolutely fabulous!" Major! (...or may-juh) PDLAM, but I have TiVo-ed the show and can't bring myself to delete it. (I attended L.P. in Columbia where your PDLAM post was incorporated into a session. Hysterical it was!)

I am laughing my head off reading about your obsession with Katie Holmes hair. I bought a copy of People magazine so I could show it to my hairdresser. My husband is getting sick of answering the questions :"Do you think my hair would look good like this?" AND "Should I get my hair cut like hers?"
Sometimes I forget that I am not a millionaire mommy who would look good in anything. I think that all the women who have commented on this post should run right out and ask for the "Katie do" then post pics of what they looked like before and after. Wouldnt that be a hoot?
My appointment is not until August 9th (it is like pulling teeth to get in with my hairdresser - I am from TN and we women here are serious about our hair :-) so I have some time to mull it over, but I think I will do it -- I think.
