BCF - Launch Day!

I can't decide if I feel more like our baby is being born tomorrow or if our baby just took her first steps. Curtis looked at me last February and said, "I'm nine months pregnant with a church." So technically that means our baby is just now sitting up. At any rate, our core team has spent the summer praying, seeking God's will, planning, and preparing to serve our city. The day we have been looking forward to since our vision dinner on March 26, 2011, is upon us!

Bayou City Fellowship launches tomorrow morning! At 10 AM! At Houston Christian High School! In the chapel! We are ready for you, peeps!

I can hardly believe this day is here. There is so much I could say about the process but it all boils down to this: God is faithful. And my husband is a pastor. Who woulda thought? Well, his grandma called it on the day he was born. But that's another story.

If you are in the Houston area and you don't have a church family, we would love for you to visit. If you're not a Christian but you're seeking answers to spiritual questions, we'd love to have you. If you're someone I went to school with back in the day and you're thinking about coming, please know I would be over-the-moon excited to see your face tomorrow. Or at any time, for that matter. Everyone is welcome, whether you have half the Bible memorized (wow) or whether you're not sure you even own one (we have one to give you).

You can visit our web site for more details: www.BayouCityFellowship.com

We will be ready to receive kiddos at 9:30. Since it's the first Sunday, it might be a good idea to come early to get your littles checked in. Cassi and Captain D and their whole team (which includes me every other week!) are excited to meet them.

Houston Christian High School is located on Beltway 8 at Kempwood, between I-10 and 290. The parking lot entrance is on Kempwood rather on than the feeder road. When you park, there will be signs and friendly faces to show you where to go.

We look forward to seeing you soon!

I couldn't help but think about you guys at my church plant this morning while we celebrated our 2nd birthday. I had already thought it was pretty cool that I got to celebrate my church plant's 2nd birthday and the launching of BCF on the same day, but things got weirder at our potluck. I looked over at this little boy and had to do a double take. He looked just like Jackson! I found out a few minutes later that he was also named Jackson. So, while your Jackson was at your new church plant in Houston, his "twin" who also happens to go by the same name was at my church plant here in Modesto, California. :)

I was praying for you this morning while I was getting ready for church. I was fretting over the debut of a new haircut and thought how ridiculous that was compared to the first Sunday at BCF!

Let us know how it went! Such a big day! God gets all the glory!

Hey Amanda! My family and I had the privilege of attending BCF yesterday morning. We were so blessed. And EXCITED. I wanted to encourage you in your walk with the Lord - the fruit is so evident. Thanks for stepping out and doing something that I'm sure felt kinda' crazy at times. We recently moved here from WI purely on a word from God, and He has been so faithful thus far it blows my mind. BCF is a huge part of His promises fulfilled to us. Thanks again. I look forward to meeting you. Even more I look forward to being part of the mission. Let's make Him famous! See you Sunday...

From what I saw of the comments on Twitter, it sounds like it went well. I've been out of internet, for 3 days. Hopefully, that won't happen again. I'm not sure we'll survive. I'm surprised my kids, in their technology charter school are still passing their classes. When you send your kids to a school whose charter is technology, being without the internet is a very bad thing. And just having a junior high boy who has a school website he needs to visit regularly, being without internet is a very bad thing. Come to think of it, living without internet in the 21st century is a VERY bad thing!!! I'm surprised we're still here. Our bank account didn't collapse, our roof is still over our heads, no one died. Nothing. We're all still here, and my kids are all still in school. AMAZING! And yes, we did it without internet. Never again! (Did I mention that already?:))

I have been meaning to comment for ages and I just saw your mom's post over at LPM but wanted to hop over here to tell you that numerous times over the past several months the Lord would lead me to pray for you and your family in this endeavor. Random times He would just put you on my heart. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. Blessings on you and yours as you fulfill His will for your lives!

Our family will be praying for yours during this most exciting time! :)

Our family and a tiny core group of fellow sojourners stepped out in faith on Sept 11th in the beginning stages of a new church work in our city!

We are so humbled and excited! All this and Jesus too?! For His glory and our good! We are praying for what God will do through BCF & all of you as you make yourselves available to Him :)
