Koala Park

We couldn't visit Australia without feeding kangaroos and petting koalas. We wouldn't have been able to show our faces back home. So Christine took us to Koala Park, which happened to be far, far away from her home and from anyone who knew her.

Never mind that Chris was slightly embarrassed to be at Koala park with her corny American friends.

Mom and Christine were so blessed to take their daughters on a play date at the zoo!

This is a wombat. So cute.

Eek! Pure happiness!

All the koalas are in the background, hanging out in the trees. Did you know that eucalyptus leaves make them inebriated and that's why they're so chilled?

Here I am feeding a mommy kangaroo with a joey in her pouch.

These are the male kangaroos that you weren't allowed to get close to. They were huge and scary and as muscular as a man. Notice how they lean on one elbow like a person.

There's Nick feeding one of the males. You can see how big it is standing up.

The joey came out to play for a few minutes. This is him trying to get back in. The look on mama's face is priceless. Can you imagine what that feels like? These babies are leggy, to say the least.

Oh my goodness, I had no idea Joey's still got in pouches when they are that big! Poor Mama. :P

Thanks so much for sharing pics of your trip. What an amazing adventure. Spending two quiet weeks alone with my Mom would top my list too! That is a rare treat for a busy mom of small ones, but what a wonderful way to re-fuel!

I have had a love affair with koalas since I was a little girl. :-) The Dallas zoo just got some and I am beside myself!!! I'm dragging my kids there this week so I can go nuts at the exhibit. I'm going to try not to embarrass them too terribly.

Maybe. :-)

Hillsong. WOW. Thanks again for sharing!

Never commented on your blog I don't think but your pics got me sooo pumped. My son, Wade is studying abroad in New Zealand til July (from UTKnoxville) and he went to Australia for his spring break from Univ of Otago in Dunedin, NZ just week or two ago also! He posted pics of Bondi BEach, the Koala and Kangaroo Park, Sydney Opera House and Harbor Bridge (at sunset) TOO! I wonder if you might have passed him, or even smiled or said hello to him if you both were there at same time? Only God knows but warms my heart knowing it might have happened! So cool!

I am from the KC area and your mom shared about the kangroos and koalas this weekend at the conference. Sounds like a great time and I am amazed that joey came out and was able to get back into his momma! Sounds like it was a great trip!

A very late welcome home to you!! I so loved catching up on your photos and stories about Oz. I went to the conference with my bff last year! She is a southern girl who fell in love with an Aussie and lives in Sydney now.

I am still changed from my amazing time at the conference. Keep singing the songs in the midst of the mush brain...the words God spoke to you will keep settling quiet into your heart.

I think I will go look at my pictures again now :)
