Will You Run for Her?

I WILL RUN from As Our Own on Vimeo.

People run for lots of reasons. We give you 10.

We’ve chosen 10 girls to be featured at 10 races in 10 cities across the nation. Their stories give reason to our running. You can make a difference for countless girls just like them—simply choose a half marathon, join the As Our Own Racing team, and raise awareness and funds.

Will you run for her?

Houston friends, will you run for Aashi? Aashi was born in the red light district in India. Ninety-five percent of girls born there become enslaved. Girls who don't get out early will likely never get out at all. Her mother found a safe, healthy future for her daughter and allowed her to be rescued out of the district at 15 months old. Aashi is now five years old and lives in the loving care of As Our Own. She is learning to play the guitar, she loves song time at school, and she dreams of being a doctor when she grows up. By setting a goal for yourself to run or run/walk a half-marathon for Aashi, you will help Aashi reach her goals.

Not in Houston? Visit AsOurOwn.org/run to learn more and join one of our 10 teams.

About As Our Own

God has opened the door in India for As Our Own to rescue girls before they are exploited, giving us the privilege to care for each one as our own—for life. We are building strong communities and training leaders to break cycles of exploitation for future generations.

A friend sent this to me. We have a race in our area and I CRIED just watching the video. My mom and I may do it together. Love that you support such an amazing ministry. Thanks for sharing it on your blog--it's how I first heard of it.

My hubs is running in TN! That's what I asked for for my birthday :-) He mentioned it as a sidenote to our students at church yesterday, and one of them approached him about maybe running too. Double :-) :-)

Very interesting. I had just talked myself out of running the 1/2 here in San Antonio because of what a portion of the money raised goes to, but I may reconsider now. I just finished reading a book called Half the Sky and learned so much about what is happening around the world (and some in the US also.) It was a tough read, very convicting...so this is timely.

This is great! I'm a runner and mom of 4 littles. As soon as a race comes close to Richmond, VA I will run. Thanks for keeping so many in the loop of those w/o a voice.

Wow! I wish I lived near one of these cities! This would be great motivation for me to get in shape and start running again! I'd be helping her and she'd be helping me! Isn't that beautiful! Maybe someday you'll do it again when I live near one of the cities you choose!

This is GREAT!!! I am a marathoner/half marathon and I love when my running counts for something. I usually send my metals to cancer fighters with a letter sharing the Gospel with them. Thank you for posting this. Keep us updated on your training! Ever heard of 5 fingers (the shoes that look like feet?). . .that's what I've been running in for a couple of years now. . . LOVE them. . they make me faster :)

I'm not a runner, but I may just start training so I can run/walk in this. The only problem is that the race in my area is on Sunday. I am a worship leader and my husband is the Pastor. I will have to see what I can do....better start training now!

Amanda,
Hi! My name is also Amanda and I am a member of First Baptist Church of Arnold, Missouri. I heard about As Our Own through reading your blog and have had a passion for fighting against sex trafficking for the past two years since hearing about it at a Passion Conference. I told our outreach pastor, Bob Caldwell, about this God given burden and how I wanted to support As Our Own. Our church is hosting a 4 on 4 basketball tournament to raise funds for them. It's Friday October 7th and Saturday October 8th. Participation is low and it's only 3 weeks from now. I was wondering if you would give us a little shout out to motivate people in the St. Louis area. The website it register is www.fbcarnold.org/4v4. Thank you for all that you do to encourage so many!
