Ring Check

Curt and I got married so young that on our honeymoon I was kind of paranoid about people thinking we were teenagers. So my friend Michelle's explanation of the "ring check" was very enlightening. If you're single, if you just want to be in the know, or if you want to laugh, go visit Travels of a Lost Texan today. This is a very fun friend of mine from college who leads an exciting life in D.C.

It was great. Thanks for the link. Not only were we young when we got married but we were also young when we had babies. The ladies in the grocery store would stare me down sometimes. It didn't help that I could pass for a 12 year old with 2 toddlers calling out mom to me. I always made sure to wear my ring.

I was also young when we got married. I was more paranoid when I was pregnant and couldn't wear my ring. Three babies and ten years later I'm passed caring what others think.

Yes, I remember doing the ring check. But, now I have been married for 18 years and those are long ago memories. Kind of glad i don't have to check anymore.
And my man is one of those who can't wear a ring. So I agree- check for a ring and then if you get that close you better ask.

I understand the being young, looking younger thing! I WILL NOT leave the house without makeup on with JD. At least with makeup I look 18-20 not 12-15.

Chris and I married when I was 20 and Chris, 21. When I transferred to A&M, I signed up for a Campus Crusade Bible study. My leader, Heather, called our apt. and when Chris answered, she worried that something was amiss. She asked all her Christian friends to pray for this new girl in Bible study, who was *Gasp* living with someone. Well I was ;) and we were married...hee hee. She never thought a college student would be married!
She's also my friend with the great cat story, and her family serves as missionaries in Peru.
'Thought that would make you laugh!
Love,
Holly

I married at 18 and was pregnant within the year. I remember one preacher saying teen marriages and teen pregnancies would fail! Oh well, here we are 24 years later... hey! Did I just tell my age?!?!?!

We were super young when we got married, too, and on our honeymoon a waitress in a cafe started to offer us coffee, looked at our faces, and decided against it. Then she looked at our hands and literally gasped out loud in amazement that we were married. I think she thought we were about 16.

What's funny is that we were married over nine years before I had my first cup of coffee. So now I'm doubly old :)
